An 86-inch 4K panel for teaching and meetings

The BenQ Board Master RM8605 is the 86-inch model in the RM05 series. Its 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) IPS panel has an active area of 1895.0 × 1066.0 mm, 450 nits typical brightness and a 1,200:1 typical contrast ratio. The 10-bit colour depth helps lesson slides, spreadsheets and video stay clear when a full room is looking at the same screen.

Android 15 with built-in AI tools

The RM8605 runs Android 15 (EDLA) on an Arm Cortex-A78 and A55 processor, with a 10 TOPS NPU, 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage. The built-in AI tools can answer questions about on-screen content, search material a user has circled, and tidy up handwritten formulas and shapes. The platform also supports Google Play, and EZWrite 6.0 handles whiteboarding with 3D images, templates and live camera feeds.

Ports for laptops, PCs and conferencing systems

The connection panel suits a room where the presenter changes from one session to the next:

Inputs: 3 × HDMI 2.0, 1 × DisplayPort 1.2a, 1 × VGA and a USB-C port rated for 65 W power delivery.
Outputs: 1 × HDMI 2.0, 1 × optical S/PDIF, a USB-C output for video, audio and touch, and a headphone jack.
Slot-in PC: one OPS slot with 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet on the OPS side.
Storage and touch: seven USB-A ports, a micro SD reader and three USB-B touch ports.
Wireless: Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, both listed as optional.

Where it fits in Qatar

Three settings suit an 86-inch panel of this kind:

A secondary classroom or science room in Al Rayyan or Al Sadd, where a teacher writes, annotates and shares student work on one large surface.
A boardroom or executive meeting room in West Bay or Msheireb, where a PC-based presentation runs through the OPS slot during calls with colleagues abroad.
A lecture room or seminar hall in Education City or Lusail, where the 8-microphone array and two 25 W speakers help capture and play back lecture audio.

What to plan before installation

The panel measures 1957 × 1166.6 × 98.4 mm and weighs 50.8 kg, or 65.3 kg in its shipping packaging. It mounts on a VESA 800 × 600 mm pattern with four M8 screws, and a wall mount is included. Because of its weight, SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to check the wall structure, power point and cable route before fixing.

The operating range is 0°C to 40°C. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so install the panel in an air-conditioned room, away from direct sunlight through windows. Its power input is AC 100-240V 50/60Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz supply, and typical consumption is 127.6 W with standby below 0.5 W.

To request a quote, send your room type, wall details and number of units. SmartRooms Qatar usually returns quotations within one working day and handles delivery to all eight municipalities, LPOs, government tenders including Monaqasat, and payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Questions about RM8605

Who is the RM8605 designed for in Qatar?

The RM8605 suits rooms that need one large shared screen, such as a lecture hall, a large classroom or a boardroom in West Bay or Lusail. Its 86-inch IPS panel, 4K UHD resolution and 450 nits typical brightness let a whole group read the same content. It is larger than the 65-inch and 75-inch RM05 models, so check that your wall suits its size and weight before ordering.

How does the RM8605 differ from the 65-inch and 75-inch RM05 models?

The RM8605 is the 86-inch version of the 4K RM05 series. It has the same 8GB memory and 128GB storage as the RM6505 and RM7505, so the main differences are screen size, active area and weight. If you need more memory and storage, the BenQ Board Pro RP8605 in the RP05 series lists 16GB memory and 256GB storage, so compare both models before requesting a quote.

Which operating system and software does it run?

The panel runs Android 15 (EDLA) on an Arm Cortex-A78 and A55 processor, and the platform supports Google Play. Built-in software includes EZWrite 6.0 for whiteboarding, InstaShare 2 for wireless screen sharing, and device and account management tools. The manufacturer also lists support for Android, Windows, macOS and ChromeOS devices. Check the app list your school or ministry needs before ordering.

Can I connect a Windows laptop or a desktop PC to the RM8605?

Yes. You can connect through the HDMI 2.0 inputs, the DisplayPort 1.2a or the USB-C port, which is rated for 65 W power delivery. For a PC-based setup, the OPS slot accepts a slot-in PC. The package includes a 3 m HDMI cable and a 1.5 m USB-C cable. In a meeting room in Msheireb where staff present during calls with teams abroad, this gives a clear path from laptop to screen.

What touch technology does it use and how many touch points does it support?

The RM8605 uses High Precision IR touch with up to 50 touch points and a touch response time under 5 ms. Two pens are included, and the touch connection uses a USB-B cable supplied at 3 m. In a classroom in Al Rayyan where several students write at the same time, multi-point touch lets more people take part in group activities without waiting for a turn at the board.

Will the built-in microphones and speakers work for a lecture hall in Education City?

The panel has an 8-microphone array with a pickup range of up to 12 m (39 ft) and two 25 W speakers. Their practical use is capturing a lecturer's voice and playing lesson audio in a classroom or seminar room. For very large halls or rooms with heavy background noise, plan separate audio equipment, and ask SmartRooms Qatar to confirm the layout during the free site survey.

Can the RM8605 be installed in a room that gets hot in summer?

Yes, provided the room is air-conditioned. The operating range is 0°C to 40°C with 10% to 90% non-condensing humidity, and the storage range is -20°C to 60°C. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C outdoors, so avoid placing the panel near windows that receive direct sun or in an unconditioned lobby or corridor. Confirm your room conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team before requesting a quote.

How heavy is the RM8605 and how is it mounted?

The panel weighs 50.8 kg, and the shipping package weighs 65.3 kg. It mounts on a VESA 800 × 600 mm pattern using four M8 screws, and a wall mount is included in the package. Because of its weight, SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to check the wall structure, the power point position and the cable route before installation.

Does the glass and display have features that help in schools?

The glass is 9H tempered and uses a nano-ionic silver germ-resistant treatment. The specification also lists anti-glare, flicker-free and low blue light features. For a school in Al Wakrah or Al Sadd where lessons run for long periods, these features support comfortable viewing, but they do not replace a proper lighting plan for the classroom, so agree the lighting layout with the installer.

What accessories come in the box?

The box includes one wall mount, two pens, one remote control, a 3 m HDMI cable, a 3 m USB-B touch cable and a 1.5 m USB-C cable. The panel measures 1957 × 1166.6 × 98.4 mm, so measure the wall space and the route to it before the unit arrives. Check the delivered items against the document SmartRooms Qatar sends you with the quotation.

How much power does the RM8605 use and is it energy efficient?

The RM8605 is rated ENERGY STAR and lists typical power consumption of 127.6 W and standby consumption below 0.5 W. Its input is AC 100-240V 50/60Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz supply. Typical backlight life is 50,000 hours, and the specification lists operation for 18 hours a day, seven days a week. Confirm the plug arrangement with SmartRooms Qatar while the quotation is prepared.

How do I request a quote for one or several RM8605 units?

Send your room type, wall details and number of units. SmartRooms Qatar usually returns quotations within one working day. Schools and government bodies can order with a purchase order or LPO, and government tenders through Monaqasat are supported. Payment is by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order, and delivery reaches all eight municipalities. Lead times are estimates confirmed with the quotation. Request a quote today.
