What the DS-D5C98RB/A2L is and who it suits
The Hikvision DS-D5C98RB/A2L is a 98-inch interactive display from the Select Series within the WonderHub range. Its 3840 × 2160 panel covers a display area of 2158.85 mm × 1214.35 mm, and its infrared touch layer recognises up to 50 touch points at once. That makes it a practical choice for lecture halls, boardrooms and training rooms where several people need to write, annotate or drag content on one screen at the same time.
Display, touch and build facts that matter
The panel is rated at 600 cd/m² typical brightness with a 1200:1 contrast ratio, and a second rating of 5000:1 is also listed. The glass is anti-glare and anti-fingerprint with 25% haze, which helps when windows or ceiling lights face the screen. Touch response is 2 ms or less, the minimum touch object is 1.5 mm, and the rated lifespan is 50,000 hours. The front has a multi-button layout for quick access in classrooms, and the built-in sensors measure light, humidity and temperature.
- Android 16.0 with 8 GB memory and 128 GB storage, plus a 16 GB and 256 GB configuration listed as the (16+256) model.
- Windows option: an optional OPS module measuring 195 × 30 × 180 mm adds a Windows system. The manufacturer recommends running video conferencing software on Windows.
- Networking: two 1000 Mbps LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6 with 2 × 2 MIMO, and a built-in network switch chip, so no separate external switch is needed for the display itself.
- Inputs: three HDMI 2.1 inputs (one front, two rear), VGA, and a Type-C port that accepts DisplayPort 1.2 input and delivers up to 100 W.
Where it fits in Qatar
A university lecture hall in Education City can use the 98-inch screen as a shared writing surface, with lecturers connecting laptops through the front HDMI and Type-C ports while students follow from the back rows. A ministry boardroom in West Bay can take a Windows OPS module for video conferencing, so that officials in Doha and colleagues abroad see the same material. A training centre in Msheireb can use the built-in WonderCast software to receive screen casting from up to nine devices at once, which suits group exercises with mixed laptops and tablets.
Planning the installation
The panel weighs 99.6 kg net and 140 kg gross, and its product width is 2219.8 mm, so the wall structure and access route need checking before delivery. The VESA pattern is 1000 mm × 400 mm with four M8 holes, and a wall mount bracket is included. The operating range is 0 °C to 40 °C with 10% to 90% relative humidity. Summer temperatures in Qatar regularly pass 45 °C, so the room must be air-conditioned and kept within that range. The unit accepts 100 to 240 VAC at 50/60 Hz, draws an average of under 325 W and under 0.5 W on standby. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to confirm wall loading, sightlines and the power point before mounting.
