Overview

The InFocus INF9850 is a 98-inch 4K interactive display from the JTouch 50 Series, with 40-point infrared touch and Android 9. It suits large lecture halls, boardrooms and training rooms in Qatar where one screen must be readable from the back row. Its 450 cd/m² brightness and anti-glare glass help in daylit rooms, and an OPS slot accepts an optional Intel Core i5 or i7 11th Gen module.

A 98-inch 4K touch display for large rooms

The InFocus INF9850 is the largest screen in the JTouch 50 Series. Its 98-inch panel has a native 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and a viewable area of 2159 x 1214 mm (85 x 48 inches). That size suits lecture halls, boardrooms, auditoriums and training rooms where a single display has to serve the whole room and several people may need to write or annotate at the same time.

The specifications that matter in a room this size

The panel is rated at 450 cd/m² brightness, with a native contrast ratio of 1,200:1, a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000:1, an 8 ms response time and a 60 Hz refresh rate. The anti-glare glass is rated 7 on the Mohs scale, which helps where windows or ceiling lights would otherwise wash out slides. The infrared touch system supports 40 touch points, with a typical response under 10 ms and an accuracy of ±1 mm.

Audio: two 20 W speakers.
Power: 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz supply with 600 W maximum consumption.
Security: PIN protection and a Kensington lock point.
Mounting: VESA 800 x 600 pattern.

Computing, connectivity and wireless casting

The display runs Android 9 on a MediaTek MT9950 processor with a quad-core ARM Cortex A73 at 1.8 GHz, 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. Ports include VGA, several HDMI 2.0 inputs with one port offering ARC, USB-A 3.0, a USB-C port that delivers up to 65 W to charge a laptop over one cable, RJ45 LAN, 3.5 mm audio, SPDIF and an OPS slot. The OPS slot takes optional Intel Core i5 or i7 11th Gen modules, coded OPS-i5-1135G7-8256 and OPS-i7-1165G7-16256. A built-in dual-band Wi-Fi 6 module supports casting through LightCast 3 over a local network or the display's own hotspot, and Bluetooth 5 is included. The software can be upgraded to Android 11 by download.

Where the INF9850 fits in Qatar

In a boardroom in West Bay or Lusail, a 98-inch panel lets a leadership team review documents at full size, while colleagues on the same network cast their screens to it. In a university lecture hall in Education City, the Whiteboard and annotation tools let a lecturer mark up slides and open Office files without leaving the front of the room. A training centre in Al Sadd or the Industrial Area can use LightManager to push apps and settings to several units from one administrator console.

What to plan before ordering

At 2244.7 mm wide and 1323.2 mm high, with a net weight of 103.6 kg (227.8 lb) and a shipping weight of 135.2 kg (297.4 lb), the INF9850 needs a wall mount or stand rated for that load, plus a clear delivery route through lobbies and lifts. Confirm the 800 x 600 VESA pattern before ordering the bracket. The operating range is 0 to 40 °C (32 to 104 °F) at 10 to 90% humidity, so the room must be air-conditioned and the screen should not sit in direct sun from a window. A free site survey from SmartRooms Qatar before installation checks the wall, the power point and the sight lines.

Questions about INF9850

Who is the InFocus INF9850 designed for?

The INF9850 suits organisations that need one very large screen in a big room. Its 98-inch 4K panel has a viewable area of 2159 x 1214 mm, which works for lecture halls, boardrooms, auditoriums and training rooms in Doha, Lusail or Education City. It is an interactive display, so teachers and presenters can write, annotate and open files directly on the glass. For a smaller meeting room, a 65-inch or 75-inch model from the same series is usually the better fit.

How is the INF9850 different from the 86-inch INF8650?

The INF9850 has a 98-inch diagonal and a viewable area of 2159 x 1214 mm, compared with 1895 x 1066 mm for the INF8650. Its maximum power consumption is 600 W against 550 W, and its net weight is 103.6 kg against 64.6 kg, so the wall and delivery route need more planning. Both models share the 4K resolution, 450 cd/m² brightness, 800 x 600 VESA mounting on the INF8650, and the OPS slot.

Will the screen be readable in a room with windows or strong ceiling lights?

The panel is rated at 450 cd/m² brightness and has anti-glare glass rated 7 on the Mohs scale, which reduces reflections from ceiling lights and daylight. Its native contrast ratio is 1,200:1 and its dynamic contrast ratio is 5,000:1. In a daylit boardroom, position the screen so that windows do not face it directly, and test the sight lines during the free site survey from SmartRooms Qatar before the mount is fixed.

How many touch points does the INF9850 support?

The infrared touch system supports up to 40 touch points. The specification lists a minimum object size of more than 3 mm for single touch and more than 8 mm for multi-touch, with an accuracy of plus or minus 1 mm and a typical response under 10 ms. The box includes two styluses, so two presenters can write on the board from the start of a session.

Which operating system does it run, and can it be updated?

The INF9850 runs Android 9 on a MediaTek MT9950 processor with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. The manufacturer's data says the software can be upgraded to Android 11, with the update downloaded from the support pages. The touch system lists support for Windows, Linux, Mac OS and Chrome. If your teaching or meeting software needs a Windows PC environment, an optional Intel Core i5 or i7 11th Gen OPS module can be specified.

Can I connect my laptop or a PC to it?

Yes. The ports include VGA, HDMI 2.0 inputs, USB-A 3.0, USB-B and USB-C. A laptop can connect through a single USB-C cable, which carries video, audio, touch and charging, with up to 65 W of power delivery. The package includes a 3 m HDMI cable and a 3 m USB A to B cable. Wireless casting works through the built-in Wi-Fi 6 module and LightCast 3 software.

What do I need to plan for the wall and the delivery?

Plan for the weight first: 103.6 kg (227.8 lb) for the display and 135.2 kg (297.4 lb) shipping weight. The panel measures 2244.7 x 89.5 x 1323.2 mm and uses an 800 x 600 VESA pattern. Check that the wall structure and bracket are rated for the load, and that lifts and corridors can take a shipping crate measuring 2483 x 376 x 1493 mm. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey before installation to confirm all of this.

Is the power supply suitable for Qatar?

The power supply is rated for 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, so the range includes the 240 V, 50 Hz mains used in Qatar. Maximum consumption is 600 W, with under 2 W in network standby and under 0.5 W in standby. A power cord is included in the box. Ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to confirm the plug type and cord length for the socket at your site before ordering, because the data sheet does not list the plug standard.

Can it be installed in a hot room or a hall near windows in summer?

The operating range is 0 to 40 °C (32 to 104 °F) at 10 to 90% humidity, and storage is rated from -20 to 60 °C. Outdoor temperatures in Doha can exceed 45 °C in summer, so the INF9850 should be installed indoors in air-conditioned rooms, away from direct sunlight and dust-heavy entrances. Confirm the room's cooling capacity during the site survey before the display is switched on daily.

How could a university lecture hall in Education City use it?

A lecturer can annotate over slides with the Annotation and Whiteboard apps, open Office files in WPS Office, and save lesson material to OneDrive or Google Drive through Cloud Drive. The LightStore lets the department add approved apps from one place, while LightManager lets IT staff push settings, firmware updates and alert messages to every unit remotely. The 98-inch panel suits large lecture theatres where students in the back rows need to read a full slide.

Can a government ministry or school buy the INF9850 through an LPO or tender?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar supplies the INF9850 by quotation and accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including Monaqasat. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. A school or ministry buying more than one unit should send the room list and mounting details with the request, so the quotation covers each display and its installation.
