Overview

The SP8612 is an 86-inch 4K interactive display in the ScreenPlay JTouch Series 12 range. It pairs a 500 cd/m2 panel and infrared touch with an OPS slot for a plug-in PC and two 5G Wi-Fi radios. Suited to lecture halls and bright boardrooms in Doha, it is sold by quotation, and SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey before wall mounting a 70 kg panel.

An 86-inch 4K panel for large rooms in daily use

The InFocus SP8612 is the 86-inch member of the ScreenPlay JTouch Series 12 range, built for rooms where a large, bright, touch-enabled screen anchors teaching or decision making. Its 3840 x 2160 native resolution (4K) and 16:9 format suit slides, spreadsheets, video and shared documents, and the panel is rated at 500 cd/m2 brightness, which helps where daylight enters through windows.

Specifications that matter when comparing panels

Panel: D-LED backlight, 1200:1 static and 4000:1 dynamic contrast, 8 ms response time, 1.07 billion colours and a 60 Hz refresh rate.
Glass and viewing: antiglare treatment with a Mohs hardness of 7, and a 178 degree viewing angle both horizontally and vertically.
Touch: infrared touch with 1 mm accuracy, supporting up to 32 touch points on Android and 50 on Windows.
Audio and life: two 15 W speakers and a rated lifetime of 50,000 hours.

Connectivity and the OPS slot for a plug-in PC

The SP8612 offers one VGA input, one HDMI 2.0 input, two HDMI 2.0 ports with ARC/CEC, three USB-A 3.0 ports, one USB-A 2.0 port, two USB-B ports, a USB Type C port, an NFC reader and a 3.5 mm stereo jack, with an SPDIF and 3.5 mm output. Two built-in 5G Wi-Fi radios support hotspot use, while an RJ45 LAN 10/100 port and an RS232 port serve wired networks and control systems. The single OPS slot accepts an optional Intel i5, Intel i7 or Google EDLA Android module, so Windows software can run from the panel itself.

Where the SP8612 fits across Qatar

In a lecture hall at Education City, the 86-inch screen lets students at the back read the same material as the front row, and the touch layer lets a lecturer annotate a shared file without leaving the front of the room. In a boardroom in West Bay or Msheireb, a Windows session from an OPS module can run alongside a laptop on an HDMI input, and the colour depth helps when reviewing charts and drawings. A school in Al Wakrah fitting out a large assembly hall can use the RS232 port to join the panel to an existing room control system.

What to plan before installation

At 1953 mm wide, 1165 mm tall and 70 kg, the SP8612 needs a wall or mobile stand designed for its weight, and a 400 x 800 mm VESA pattern. It supports landscape orientation only, so set the mounting height for comfortable viewing from the front row. Its operating range is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius, so install it in an air-conditioned room rather than a hot corridor, since Qatar summer temperatures can exceed 45 degrees Celsius. Power draw is 155 W minimum, 198 W with an OPS module, and 500 W maximum; ask your electrician to confirm the circuit beforehand.

Questions about SP8612

Which rooms suit the SP8612 best?

The SP8612 suits large spaces where people sit well back from the screen, such as lecture halls, boardrooms and training rooms. Its 86-inch diagonal and 3840 x 2160 (4K) resolution keep small text on spreadsheets and slides readable from a distance, and the 500 cd/m2 brightness rating helps where daylight comes through windows. Request a quote and we will confirm the room size and wall layout with you first.

How well does the screen handle daylight and glare?

The panel is rated at 500 cd/m2 and has an antiglare glass treatment with a Mohs hardness of 7. These features reduce washed-out images in rooms with windows, but direct sun on the glass still affects contrast, which is rated at 1200:1 static and 4000:1 dynamic. Ask SmartRooms Qatar to check window positions during a free site survey so the panel can sit away from direct afternoon light.

What touch technology does it use?

The SP8612 uses infrared touch with 1 mm accuracy and a typical response time below 6 ms. Minimum object size is more than 3 mm for single touch and more than 8 mm for multi-touch, and the panel supports up to 32 touch points on Android or 50 on Windows. A presenter can write, annotate or drag objects with a finger, and several teachers or students can work at the board together.

Which inputs does it have for laptops and room equipment?

Inputs include one VGA (Mini D-sub 15-pin), one HDMI 2.0, two HDMI 2.0 ports with ARC/CEC, three USB-A 3.0, one USB-A 2.0, two USB-B, one USB Type C, one 3.5 mm stereo jack and an NFC reader. ARC/CEC support allows one remote to control connected HDMI sources. Cameras and conferencing codecs are not part of this model, so confirm your equipment list with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

Does it include a PC, and what OPS options exist?

The base unit runs Android 12 on an octa-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 128GB eMMC storage. For a Windows system, the single OPS slot takes an optional plug-in PC: SPOPS1 with an Intel i5-11400 and 16GB/512GB SSD, or SPOPS2 with an Intel Core i7-11700 and 16GB/512GB SSD. SPOPS3 is a Google EDLA certified Android 13.8 module with 8GB and 128GB. Your quotation will list the module you select.

What power does it draw, and does it suit Qatar mains?

Listed consumption is 155 W minimum, 198 W with an OPS module fitted and 500 W maximum, with network standby below 2.0 W and standby below 0.5 W. The AC input is listed as 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, which covers the 240 V, 50 Hz supply used in Qatar, and a regional power cord is supplied in the box. Ask your electrical contractor to size the circuit for the 500 W maximum before installation day.

Can it be wall mounted, and what space does it need?

The VESA pattern is 400 x 800 mm. The panel measures 1953 x 88 x 1165 mm and weighs 70 kg, and its shipping box is 2080 x 180 x 1295 mm at 83 kg, so plan doorway widths and lift access. A wall mount is included. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey before any mount is fixed, which checks wall construction, cable routing and the right height for the front row.

How does it cope with heat during Doha summers?

The listed operating range is 0 to 40°C with 10 to 90% humidity, and storage is -20 to 40°C. Qatar summer temperatures can pass 45°C, so the panel belongs in an air-conditioned room, not a hot corridor, an uncooled space or a spot in direct sun. The built-in temperature sensor can trigger alerts when a room needs ventilating, which helps facilities teams keep the room within its operating range.

How is restricted content protected on the panel?

Listed security features are NFC profiles, PIN protection and a Kensington lock slot. The product information states that private content is held on the device and can only be accessed with the appropriate keycard via NFC. This suits a government office or school leadership team that stores restricted material on the panel, and the Kensington lock helps deter removal from a shared room.

What networking options does it provide?

The SP8612 has two built-in 5G Wi-Fi radios that can also work in hotspot mode, one RJ45 LAN 10/100 Ethernet port and one RS232 port for control. Bluetooth 5.0 is listed as well. A university IT team can keep the panel on a wired LAN for lessons while guest devices connect over Wi-Fi, and the RS232 port can link the panel to an existing room control system.

Can a school or ministry buy it through a purchase order?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including Monaqasat, with payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Quotations are usually issued within one working day. If you are equipping several halls or classrooms with the SP8612, state the number of units and any OPS modules in your request so the quotation lists them together. Products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

What comes in the box with the SP8612?

The box contains the interactive display, a simplified user guide, a VGA cable, a regional power cord, a remote control without batteries, a USB cable and a wall mount. Have batteries ready for the remote before commissioning. Items beyond this list, such as an OPS module, are quoted separately, so tell us what the room needs when you request a quote.
