Overview

The MAXHUB U8640 is an 86-inch 4K interactive flat panel from the U4 Series, built for large lecture halls and boardrooms in Qatar. It pairs a 3840 x 2160 display with 50-point infrared touch, Android 15 with 16GB RAM, a 50MP camera with auto framing, and an 8-mic array that picks up voices up to 12 metres away. It suits schools and offices that need one panel to teach, present and host calls. Request a quote.

What the U8640 is built to do

The MAXHUB U8640 is the 86-inch 16:9 member of the U4 Series. It combines the display, touch surface, camera, microphone array and speakers in one unit, so a lecture hall or boardroom does not need a separate projector, screen and ceiling microphones. Its 3840 x 2160 resolution gives slides, spreadsheets and video the detail needed on a wall-sized screen.

Display and touch: the figures that matter

The panel has a maximum brightness of 500 nits and a DLED backlight. Typical contrast is 1,200:1, with 50,000:1 dynamic contrast. Colour is rated at 98% sRGB typical, with 1.07 billion colours at 10-bit depth and colour accuracy of ΔE≤1. Response time is 8ms and the refresh rate is 60Hz. The etched non-glare surface, rated at 25% haze, reduces reflections from windows and overhead lights.

Touch uses infrared recognition with 50 touch points and ±0.5mm accuracy. MAXHUB Think&Ink adds direct annotation, palm rejection, sharp erase, simultaneous writing and erasing, multi-level object recognition and single-pen dual colour. The panel carries TÜV Flicker Free and TÜV Low Blue Light certifications for eye care.

Camera, microphones and SkyWave audio

The 50MP camera has a 115° diagonal field of view, 101° horizontal and 85° vertical. It supports manual mode, auto framing, speaker tracking, person counting and random election. The 8-mic array covers a 180° pick-up angle with a pick-up range of 0 to 12 metres, and adds an intelligent audio fence, AI spatial sound, echo cancellation, AI noise cancellation and automatic gain control. The SkyWave Sound System uses a 2.2 channel layout with speaker output of 2×8W+2×18W, rising to 2×12W+2×25W maximum, and a sound pressure level of 88 dB at 1W and 1m.

Android 15, ports and expansion

Android 15 runs on an octa-core processor (4 A76 and 4 A55 cores at 2.4GHz) with a Mali-G610 MP4 GPU, a 6 TOPS NPU, 16GB RAM and 256GB storage. Google EDLA certification is listed. Inputs include four HDMI IN, one DP IN, four USB 3.0, two USB Type-C, two touch inputs, RS232, RJ45 in, audio in and a TF card port. Outputs include HDMI OUT, USB Type-C, SPDIF, audio out and RJ45 out. The unit has an OPS slot and a Wi-Fi module slot. The listed Wi-Fi module, SI07B, supports Wi-Fi 6 across 802.11ac/b/g/n/a/ax on 2.4GHz and 5GHz, and Bluetooth 5.2 is listed. Optional accessories include the UC W31 USB camera, UC P30 PTZ camera, UC S07 video bar, OPS62A and OPS72A modules, SP30B smart pen, WL10C and WL20 sensor boxes, and ST33M, ST23B or EST09 mobile stands.

Planning an 86-inch installation in Qatar

Consider a public school in Al Rayyan refitting a science lecture hall, where one panel replaces a projector and screen. In a boardroom in West Bay or Lusail that takes regular calls with teams abroad, the camera and microphone array work best at a central position on the wall. Typical power consumption is 100W, standby is no more than 0.5W, and the input is rated 100 to 240V at 50/60Hz with Energy Star certification. Qatar mains run at 240V and 50Hz, so confirm the socket position and cable route during planning. The source data does not list an operating temperature range, so confirm room conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team before placing the panel near a window or in an unconditioned space. A panel of this size needs a suitable wall or stand, so SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey before professional installation to check the wall, sightlines and cable routes.

Questions about U8640

Who is the MAXHUB U8640 designed for?

The U8640 suits large rooms where one panel must teach, present and host video calls, such as a lecture hall at a university in Education City or a boardroom in West Bay. Its 86-inch 16:9 screen is sized for audiences rather than a single desk, and the 8-mic array has a pick-up range of up to 12 metres, which matches a room of that scale.

Will the screen work in a sunlit room with a glass wall?

The panel has a 500 nits maximum brightness and a 25% haze non-glare etched surface, which reduces reflections from windows and overhead lights. The source data does not list an operating temperature range, so ask SmartRooms Qatar to confirm the room conditions before installation, especially if the panel sits close to glass in a Doha summer.

Which display figures should I compare with other panels?

Check the 1,200:1 typical contrast and 50,000:1 dynamic contrast, the 98% sRGB typical colour gamut, the ΔE≤1 colour accuracy, the 8ms response time and the 60Hz refresh rate. Typical and dynamic contrast are measured differently, so compare like with like when reviewing competing datasheets before you request a quote.

Does the U8640 have eye-care certification?

Yes. The source data lists TÜV Flicker Free and TÜV Low Blue Light certifications for the display. These matter for teachers and staff who present for several hours a day in air-conditioned rooms under bright ceiling lighting, where reducing flicker and blue light exposure helps during long sessions.

How does touch work when several students write at once?

The touch system supports 50 touch points using infrared recognition, with ±0.5mm accuracy. MAXHUB Think&Ink adds palm rejection, sharp erase, simultaneous erase and write, and single-pen dual colour. This suits a school classroom where student groups write on the board together, or a company team annotating the same slide during a workshop.

What operating system and memory does the U8640 run?

The U8640 runs Android 15 with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, powered by an octa-core processor at 2.4GHz and a 6 TOPS NPU. Google EDLA certification is listed. The source data does not list specific supported apps, so confirm the applications your school, ministry or company relies on before placing an order.

Which inputs do I need to connect a laptop and a second source?

The inputs include four HDMI IN, one DP IN, two USB Type-C, four USB 3.0, two touch inputs and an RJ45 input, along with audio in and a TF card port. HDMI OUT allows the signal to feed a second display. The source data does not state whether two sources can be shown at once, so ask about your exact setup when you request a quote.

Does the U8640 support Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth?

The unit has a Wi-Fi module slot, and the listed SI07B module supports Wi-Fi 6 with 802.11ac/b/g/n/a/ax on 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Bluetooth 5.2 is also listed. Wireless connection suits a presentation area, while the RJ45 input and output remain available for wired networking in rooms where that is preferred.

What is the OPS slot for on this model?

The panel has one OPS slot, and the source data names OPS62A and OPS72A as optional OPS modules. An OPS module is a compact computer that fits inside the display, so staff can run a computer from the panel without a separate desktop. Name the module you need in your request so we can confirm compatibility.

How does the camera handle a hybrid lecture?

The 50MP camera offers 115° diagonal coverage with auto framing, speaker tracking and person counting, plus manual mode. In a hybrid lecture at a university in Education City, where some students join remotely, the camera follows the speaker while the 8-mic array with echo and noise cancellation keeps the voice clear for remote participants.

What electrical details should I plan for before installation?

The power input is 100 to 240V at 50/60Hz, with typical consumption of 70W... no: 100W typical and standby no more than 0.5W, with Energy Star certification. Qatar mains run at 240V and 50Hz. Confirm the socket location and cable route during the free site survey so the installation does not need rework later.

Can the U8640 be wall-mounted, and what warranty applies?

The source data lists optional mobile stands ST33M, ST23B and EST09, but it does not give wall-mount specifications or the panel weight. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey and professional installation to check the wall and recommend a fixing method. The manufacturer lists a 3-year warranty, so ask for the warranty terms in writing with your quotation.
