Overview

The Newline Flex is a 27-inch 4K desktop display for video calls and touch writing. It combines P-cap multi-touch, an active pen, a 4K camera with Windows Hello, an 8-element microphone array and 20 W 2.1 speakers. One USB-C connection with 60 W power output connects a laptop. Suited to executives and staff in Doha offices or teachers in Education City who want a single desk setup.

What the Newline Flex is and how it is built

The Newline Flex is a 27-inch desktop display with a 4K (3840 x 2160) panel in a 16:9 format. It is built to sit on a desk as the central screen for one workstation, combining a touch surface, an active pen, a 4K camera, an eight-element microphone array and a 2.1 speaker system in a single unit. The panel is rated at 350 cd/m² typical brightness with a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and the touch glass is optically bonded with an anti-smudge treatment.

Touch and pen writing that works with Windows Ink

The projected capacitive touch layer supports multi-touch input from a finger or the pen. The active pen supports MPP 1.51 with 1024 pressure points and has two built-in hotkeys for switching to the eraser and opening the right-click menu. Palm rejection lets the user rest a hand on the screen while writing, and the pen attaches magnetically to the side of the display. Because the pen works with Windows Ink, notes can be written over any document in any software and saved.

Camera, microphones and speakers for video calls

The 4K camera has a 120 degree field of view and tilts from -20 to 80 degrees, so the user sets the angle. It supports Windows Hello for signing in. The data sheet lists no autoframing, so framing is a manual step. The eight-microphone array picks up voices up to 6 m away and includes automatic gain control, automatic noise reduction and acoustic echo cancellation. The speakers combine two 5 W units with a 10 W subwoofer, giving a total of 20 W.

Connections, power and physical details

The USB-C 3.1 port provides 60 W of power output and is the main link for a single-cable desk setup. The other ports are HDMI 2.0 with 4K at 60 Hz, USB-A 3.0, USB-B 3.0 for touch, and 3.5 mm line in and line out. It supports Intel SDM Ready (SDM-L) for a compatible computing module and has a Kensington lock. It has no VESA mounting holes. The unit measures 618 x 495 x 180 mm and weighs 10.02 kg.

Where the Flex fits in Qatar and what to plan

A faculty office in Education City, where a lecturer joins a video session with colleagues abroad and marks up a shared document with the pen.
A manager's desk in West Bay or Msheireb, where a hybrid meeting runs from one laptop using the built-in camera and microphones.
A business-centre desk at a hotel near Hamad International Airport, where one cable powers the laptop and the screen handles calls and touch notes.

Check that your laptop appears in the compatibility list published by Newline before ordering. Measure the desk for the 618 mm width and 495 mm depth. Because the source data gives no operating temperature range, confirm the installation environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before placing the unit near a sun-facing window or a space that is not air-conditioned. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey and professional installation across all eight municipalities of Qatar. The product is covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Questions about Flex

What is the Newline Flex built for?

The Newline Flex is a 27-inch 4K desktop display for one workstation, combining touch, pen writing, a camera, microphones and speakers in a single unit. It suits a teacher in Education City who writes on lesson slides, a manager in West Bay who joins hybrid meetings from a laptop, or a government office where staff annotate documents and join video calls from the same desk.

What resolution and brightness does the panel have?

The panel is 4K (3840 x 2160) in a 16:9 format, with 350 cd/m² typical brightness and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. At 27 inches, the resolution keeps small text in spreadsheets and slides legible at normal desk distance. If the desk sits opposite a window in Doha, check glare before ordering, because brightness alone does not settle that question.

Does the pen work with Windows Ink and macOS?

The active pen works with Windows Ink, so you can annotate over documents in any software and save the notes. The pen supports MPP 1.51 with 1024 pressure points, has two built-in hotkeys for the eraser and right-click, and attaches magnetically to the side of the display. The APAC product page lists a macOS multi-touch driver, so confirm your Mac model and macOS version with SmartRooms Qatar before ordering.

Does the 4K camera support Windows Hello?

Yes. The 4K camera supports Windows Hello, so a compatible Windows laptop can be unlocked with facial recognition. The camera has a 120 degree field of view and tilts from -20 to 80 degrees, so you set the angle yourself. The data sheet lists no autoframing, so if a presenter moves around the room, the camera must be adjusted to keep them in view.

How well does the microphone pick up voices in a meeting room?

The eight-element microphone array has a 6 m pickup distance and includes automatic gain control, automatic noise reduction and acoustic echo cancellation. That suits a desk call or a small meeting room in Lusail where two or three people sit around the screen. For a large boardroom with more participants, compare the Flex against a room-scale conferencing system before you decide.

Can the Flex power my laptop through one cable?

The USB-C 3.1 port is a powered connection with 60 W power output, intended to power the connected laptop, which is what makes a single-cable desk setup possible. Before connecting, check your laptop against the compatibility list on the manufacturer's site. Also confirm that your laptop's charging requirement does not exceed the 60 W output.

What ports and connections are included?

The Flex has HDMI 2.0 with 4K at 60 Hz, USB-A 3.0, USB-B 3.0 for touch, USB-C 3.1 with 60 W output, and 3.5 mm line in and line out. It also supports Intel SDM Ready (SDM-L) for a compatible computing module. A teacher in Al Rayyan might connect a classroom laptop by USB-C and a second source by HDMI, so agree the layout with SmartRooms Qatar before ordering.

How big is the Flex and can it be wall-mounted?

The unit measures 618 x 495 x 180 mm and weighs 10.02 kg. It has no VESA mounting holes, so the data does not support a wall bracket, and it is intended for a desk. It has a Kensington lock for securing it in a shared office. Measure the desk before ordering, and ask about a free site survey if the workspace is unusual.

Is the Flex suitable for hot, dusty or sun-facing spaces in Qatar?

The source data gives no operating temperature range and no dust rating, so this page cannot confirm suitability for spaces above 45°C or dusty areas. For a reception desk or a sun-facing room in Qatar, ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to confirm the environment against the manufacturer's specifications before you request a quote.

How do I request a quote for the Flex?

Send us the number of units, the desk or room location, and whether you need a purchase order for a school, ministry or company account. Quotations usually arrive within one working day, and payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. The product is covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and SmartRooms Qatar delivers to all eight municipalities of Qatar.

Is the Flex practical for a school fitting out several desks?

For a school in Al Wakrah or Mesaieed equipping several teaching desks, the same 27-inch 4K model at each station keeps setup, cable routing and staff training consistent. Each unit needs its own desk space of 618 x 495 mm, and each laptop should be checked for compatibility. Ask for one quotation covering all units to match a single purchase order.
