Rather than placing a separate PC or media player beside the screen, the Intel Smart Display Module sits in the display's SDM slot and runs the content and applications itself. The module carries 8GB of dual-channel RAM and 128GB of storage. Its Intel Iris Xe Graphics is eligible for use, and hardware decoding covers H.265/HEVC, AV1, VP9, AVC, MPEG2, VC1, VP8 and JPEG. Support for Direct3D 12.1, OpenGL 4.6 and OpenCL 3.0 gives developers room to build graphics-rich displays beyond static playlists.
