What the 55-inch panel delivers

The ViewSonic IFP5550-3 is a 55-inch ViewBoard interactive display built on a 3840x2160 UHD panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen shows 1.07 billion colours at 10-bit depth, with typical brightness of 350 nits and a dynamic contrast ratio of 5000:1. An anti-glare coating and 9H surface hardness help the image hold up against reflections from windows and ceiling lights, which matters in rooms where daylight comes in during the day.

Touch is infrared. The panel recognises up to 20 touch points and 10 writing points, so a teacher can write with one pen while a student works with a finger elsewhere on the glass. It is also an eye-care certified display, with low blue light and operation without flicker at any brightness setting, which helps during long lessons and full-day meetings.

Writing, sharing and built-in software

Two touch pens are supplied. The display detects pen diameter automatically, at 8 mm and 3 mm, so two people can write with different colours and line thicknesses at the same time. Annotation runs on the built-in myViewBoard whiteboard software. When a Windows slot-in PC is fitted, the Windows edition of myViewBoard is embedded in that computer, and the panel supports Windows Ink and object recognition for annotations on Office 365 content.

ViewBoard Cast lets participants send their screens to the panel wirelessly, and the 4-way split screen shows four sources side by side for group work. Three HDMI 2.0 inputs, a VGA input, an RS232 port for control, an RJ45 LAN port and USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports on the front and rear complete the connections. The front SmartPort USB ports serve every channel, so a presenter at the front does not need to reach behind the panel.

Heat, dust and the operating range
