What the DVY32 is built to do in a teaching room

The BenQ DVY32 is a Zoom-certified 4K conference camera for teachers, trainers and meeting hosts who need remote participants to see the whole group and hear whoever is speaking. It pairs a Sony image sensor with a 120° wide field of view, so a full class or a small seminar group can fit in one shot without a second camera. It suits classrooms, lecture spaces and meeting rooms where the camera sits at the front and the people it serves may move around.

The image and framing features that matter

4K UHD resolution with enhanced colour performance and a low-distortion lens, so faces and whiteboard text stay readable at the far end of a call.
AI-powered auto framing that adjusts the shot as students stand, move or turn, keeping the group inside the frame.
5x digital zoom with digital pan and tilt, useful for showing a demonstration, a document or one speaker during a lesson.
Low light performance for rooms where lighting is dimmed while slides are projected.

Audio pickup up to 26 ft (8 m)

The built-in omnidirectional microphones are noise-suppressing and pick up voices from up to 26 ft (8 m) away. That covers most standard classrooms and meeting rooms. Rooms with hard surfaces, air-conditioning noise or a long boardroom table should be checked during a site survey before the camera is fixed in place.

Where it fits in Qatar

An international school in Lusail linking a Year 10 science class with a partner school abroad, with the teacher working close to the board while the camera follows the group.
A university training centre in Education City inviting an overseas guest speaker to join a seminar, where students interact with the speaker through the camera view.
A government training room in Doha running sessions for staff spread across several sites, using the conferencing software the organisation already runs.

What to plan before installation

The DVY32 measures 180.1 × 47.4 × 44 mm (7.1 × 1.9 × 1.7 inch). Its supplied cable is a 3 m (9.8 ft) USB-B to USB-A cable, so plan the position of the host computer within that reach, or ask the SmartRooms Qatar team how to route the connection if the host sits further away. The manufacturer data does not list operating temperature, humidity or power consumption for this model, so confirm the mounting environment before installation, especially near a window that receives summer sun in Qatar, where temperatures can exceed 45°C. H.265 encoding helps reduce bandwidth needs when the connection is busy during a lesson. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey before installation.

Questions about DVY32

What is the BenQ DVY32 and who is it for?

The BenQ DVY32 is a Zoom-certified 4K conference camera for teachers, trainers and meeting hosts who run hybrid sessions. It suits classrooms, lecture rooms and meeting spaces where remote participants need to see the whole group and hear the people speaking. Its 120° wide field of view and AI auto framing are the main reasons schools and offices choose it over a fixed-frame camera.

Does the camera follow students who move around the room?

Yes. The DVY32 has AI-powered auto framing, which adjusts the shot so the entire class stays in frame even when students are moving. When a teacher wants to focus on one person or the whiteboard, digital pan, tilt and 5x digital zoom let the operator frame a closer view during the lesson, without repositioning the camera.

What image sensor and resolution does it use?

The DVY32 delivers 4K UHD resolution and uses a high-performance Sony image sensor. BenQ also lists enhanced colour performance and a low-distortion lens, which together help faces and written text stay clear on the remote end. Low light performance is listed as a feature, useful in rooms where lights are dimmed for projected slides. The source data gives no lux rating, so ask the SmartRooms Qatar team if your room is very dark.

How far can the microphones pick up a voice?

The built-in omnidirectional, noise-suppressing microphones pick up voices from up to 26 ft (8 m) away. That range suits most classrooms and meeting rooms. Rooms with hard surfaces, air-conditioning noise or a long boardroom table should be checked during a site survey before the camera is fixed in place, so the audio is tested in the actual space.

Is the DVY32 compatible with Zoom and other conferencing apps?

It is Zoom-certified and compatible with leading conferencing apps, so teachers can keep using the software their school has designated. The source data does not name other platforms individually, so confirm with the SmartRooms Qatar team that your specific platform and version are supported before ordering, particularly if your school uses more than one application for different classes.

Does it need software installed on the computer?

The DVY32 is designed as a plug-in device, and the manufacturer states that you can start a lesson without downloading any software. The supplied cable is a 3 m (9.8 ft) USB-B to USB-A cable. Check the cable route before installation, because that length determines how far the host computer can sit from the camera.

Can one camera serve bilingual lessons in an Arabic and English school?

The DVY32 captures video and room audio, so bilingual lessons are handled by the conferencing platform the school uses rather than by the camera itself. The source data does not list any language-specific features. For a school in Al Wakrah or Al Khor running Arabic and English lessons side by side, the practical question is whether the microphones cover every seat, which a site survey can check.

Is it suitable for a room near a window or in summer heat?

The source data does not list operating temperature or humidity for the DVY32, so no range can be quoted. Qatar summers regularly exceed 45°C, so a camera near a sun-facing window or in a poorly cooled comms cabinet needs its environment confirmed first. We recommend an air-conditioned room unless the SmartRooms Qatar team confirms that a different location is suitable.

What are the dimensions and how much space does it need?

The DVY32 measures 180.1 × 47.4 × 44 mm (7.1 × 1.9 × 1.7 inch), so it is compact enough for a shelf or a position above the front display. The source data does not list mounting hardware, so confirm the bracket with your installer. A free site survey before installation helps confirm the sight line to the front of the room and the distance to the furthest seat.

Does H.265 encoding help on a busy internet connection?

H.265 video encoding requires less bandwidth than older formats, which helps classes stay uninterrupted on less than ideal networks. This matters in a shared office connection in Msheireb or a school in Al Rayyan where several devices compete for bandwidth. Actual bitrate depends on your platform settings, so test a call with the conferencing software before timetabling important sessions.

How does the privacy cover work?

The DVY32 has a built-in privacy cover that protects privacy when the camera is not in use. Closing it between lessons or meetings means the lens is not exposed when nobody is using the system. This is useful in staff rooms, executive offices and government meeting rooms where the camera should not be recording while idle.

Can we buy it through a purchase order or government tender?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including Monaqasat submissions, and accepts payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Quotations are usually issued within one working day. Ask that the quote list the camera, its USB cable and installation separately, so the LPO matches the agreed scope exactly.
