What the Tesira AMP-450P does in a conferencing system

The Tesira AMP-450P is a four-channel amplifier from Biamp's Tesira series, built for conferencing audio that travels over a network. It takes its power from a PoE+ connection that meets IEEE 802.3at Class 4 at 30 W, and it receives audio through a Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port on Cat 5e cabling or better. The unit is AVB/TSN enabled and is configured in Tesira software, so one cable run can carry both power and signal to the amplifier.

Continuous and burst power per channel

When all four channels are driven, continuous output is 3 W per channel. The output allocation is set in software, so a single channel can deliver 15 W continuous into 4 Ω or 8 Ω, while two channels deliver 7 W. For short peaks the amplifier switches to burst mode, rated at 50 W per channel into 4 Ω and 30 W into 8 Ω, measured at 1 kHz under ANSI/CTA-2006-B. An internal limiter is included to manage the output.
