Overview

The Huawei CloudLink Box 310 and Box 610 are video conferencing codecs for meeting rooms, handling H.265 video up to 4K30 and dual-stream 4K30 plus 4K30. Both include a 10.1-inch touch panel powered over PoE, HDMI, XLR and RCA audio connections, and built-in Wi-Fi. The Box 310 suits small and medium rooms, while the Box 610 adds a third HDMI input and output for larger boardrooms and lecture halls in Qatar.

What the Box 310 and Box 610 do in a meeting room

The Huawei CloudLink Box 310 and Box 610 are video conferencing codecs, the units that encode and decode audio and video for each call. They sit alongside a camera, a microphone array and a display, and connect to H.323 or SIP based conferencing platforms. Both models use H.265 for video, which can carry 4K at 30 frames per second in a single stream, and they can run two streams together, such as 4K30 plus 4K30, so a camera feed and shared content can travel at high resolution at the same time.

Port layout: where the Box 310 and Box 610 differ

The two models share the same chassis dimensions and most connections, so the choice comes down to how many sources and displays a room needs. The Box 310 has one HT-RX port and two HDMI video inputs, with two HDMI video outputs. The Box 610 adds a third HDMI input, a third HDMI output and a third HDMI audio input. That extra capacity helps when a room must take a laptop, a document camera and a second feed at once. Both models include one HD-AI input, one XLR input, two RCA audio inputs, four RCA audio outputs and one HDMI audio output.

The HT-RX port carries video, camera control and power over a single connection, with a stated reach of up to 100 metres, which simplifies cabling to a camera at the far end of a room.

Network, security and content sharing

Each unit has two 10/100/1000 Mbit/s LAN ports, one PoE network port for the touch panel, two RJ45 serial ports, built-in Wi-Fi, and one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 Type-A port. Call bandwidth for IP connections runs from 64 kbit/s to 8 Mbit/s. Signalling can be protected with H.235 and TLS, media with SRTP, and dual-stream content is also encrypted. Access and control are guarded by separate conference access, conference control and administrator passwords. Each device is provisioned with one certificate at manufacture to help prevent spoofing and hijacking, and invisible watermarks embedded in conference audio help trace any recording that is shared without authorisation.

Content can be shared by wired or wireless projection, and a presenter can share from a PC or mobile phone with one tap, avoiding a cable across the table.

Where each model fits in Qatar

A Box 310 suits a small or medium boardroom in an office in West Bay or The Pearl, where one camera and one large display carry a call to colleagues abroad. A Box 610 suits a lecture hall or medium-to-large meeting room, for example in a university building in Education City or a government meeting room in Msheireb, where the additional HDMI sources and outputs let staff connect a presenter laptop, a second feed and a recording source without swapping cables. The datasheet lists Arabic among the supported languages, which helps bilingual teams in Al Sadd or Lusail who work in Arabic and English side by side.

Power is an AC/DC module that accepts 100 V to 240 V at 50 to 60 Hz with a maximum draw of 100 W, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz supply. The datasheet does not list a plug type, so confirm the power cord fits BS 1363 sockets with the team before installation. The operating range is 0 to 40°C at 10 to 95% relative humidity. Summer temperatures in Qatar can rise above 45°C, so the codec belongs in an air-conditioned room with ventilation around it, not in a sun-exposed cabinet or an unventilated space.

What to plan before you order

  • Camera and microphones: both are listed as optional, so confirm whether they are in your quote.
  • Touch panel: the 10.1-inch panel draws power over PoE, so reserve a PoE-capable port at its wall position.
  • Licences: codec software licences for upgrades from 1080P30 to 1080P60, 1080P60 to 4K30 and 1080P30 to 4K30 are listed separately, so choose the one that matches your target.
  • Site survey: a free SmartRooms Qatar site survey can check cable routes, wall positions and room conditions before installation.

Share your room size, the number of sources and displays, and your camera plan, and request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar. Quotations usually follow within one working day.

Questions about CloudLink Box 310-610

Which model should a Doha office choose between the Box 310 and Box 610?
Choose the Box 310 for a small or medium meeting room that needs two HDMI video inputs and two HDMI outputs. The Box 610 suits medium and large rooms because it adds a third HDMI video input, a third HDMI output and a third HDMI audio input. If a boardroom in West Bay runs a laptop, a document camera and a second display together, the Box 610 gives you the spare ports.
Does the codec handle 4K video and content at the same time?
Yes. Both models list dual-stream operation at 4K30 plus 4K30, as well as 1080p60 plus 1080p60 and 1080p30 plus 1080p30. A lecture hall in Education City that shows slides while the lecturer's camera stays on screen can use this mode. Confirm that your network path can carry the chosen rate before you order.
What bandwidth does a call need?
The datasheet gives an IP bandwidth range of 64 kbit/s to 8 Mbit/s. Its H.265 examples include 4K30 at 2 Mbit/s and 1080p60 at 768 kbit/s, while 720p30 runs at 256 kbit/s. Calls between a Doha office and teams abroad depend on upload capacity, so ask your internet provider to confirm upstream speed before you plan to run 4K calls daily.
Can the codec be installed in a hot room or cabinet without air conditioning?
No. The operating range is 0 to 40°C at 10 to 95% relative humidity. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so place the codec in an air-conditioned room with space around it, not in a sun-exposed rack or an unventilated storeroom. Your installer should check the room temperature before fixing the equipment.
Does the power supply suit Qatar's electricity supply?
The embedded AC/DC module accepts 100 V to 240 V AC at 50 to 60 Hz and draws a maximum of 100 W. That covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains. The datasheet does not list a plug type, so ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to confirm the power cord suits BS 1363 sockets before installation.
Can the interface and meeting features be used in Arabic?
The datasheet lists Arabic among the supported languages for meeting features, alongside English and several other languages. That helps a government office in Msheireb or a company in Al Sadd where staff work in Arabic and English side by side. Confirm the interface language in your quotation before ordering, so the room setup matches your team's preference.
Which camera and microphone can I connect?
The camera and microphone array are optional and are not part of the codec itself, so specify them in your quote. The HT-RX port carries video, camera control and power over one link of up to 100 metres. Audio can come in through XLR, RCA, HD-AI or HDMI, and two microphone arrays can be cascaded. Your site survey should fix the camera position first.
How is the 10.1-inch touch panel powered and mounted?
The 10.1-inch touch panel connects through a PoE network port, so one cable carries power and control to the wall position. Plan a PoE-capable port within reach of the planned location. The device also has a Kensington security slot, which helps deter removal in shared rooms. A free SmartRooms Qatar site survey can confirm cable routes before installation.
Does it connect to SIP and H.323 platforms and work behind firewalls?
Yes. Both models support ITU-T H.323 and IETF SIP as multimedia frame protocols. For firewalls, the datasheet lists H.460 public-private network traversal and static NAT. A university in Education City connecting to partners overseas can use these options, but confirm the platform and firewall rules with your IT team before ordering.
How does the codec protect meeting content from interception or leaks?
Signalling can be protected with H.235 and TLS, media with SRTP, and dual-stream content is encrypted. Access uses separate conference, control and administrator passwords. Each device carries one certificate from manufacture to help prevent spoofing and hijacking, and watermarks embedded in conference audio help trace any recording shared without authorisation. This suits ministry or legal meetings in Doha.
Can staff share a presentation without cables?
Yes. The codec supports wired and wireless projection modes, including one-tap wireless sharing from a PC or mobile phone. This is useful in a training room in Al Rayyan where participants bring their own laptops and phones and do not want cables running across the table. Built-in Wi-Fi is included in both models.
Are the codec upgrade licences included with the unit?
The ordering information lists separate codec software licences for three upgrade paths: 1080P30 to 1080P60, 1080P60 to 4K30, and 1080P30 to 4K30. Tell SmartRooms Qatar which resolution your room uses now and which target you need, and the quotation will show the licence that applies. Quotations usually arrive within one working day.
