LVC 420
Barco LVC 420 Video Wall Controller
The Barco LVC 420 is a standalone video wall controller that combines networked and local video sources with high-resolution images, driving up to 16 4K displays. It runs Windows 10 64-bit IoT Enterprise, so security software can share the unit. Redundant 800W power and RAID-1 storage suit control rooms across Qatar. What the LVC 420 does on a video wall
The Barco LVC 420 is a standalone video wall controller that runs Barco's CMS software. It captures networked sources and local baseband inputs, then places them on a wall next to high-resolution images. Operators arrange windows in a graphical interface using drag-and-drop, so a layout can be changed quickly when a briefing, an event or a monitoring task calls for something different.
The controller runs a Windows environment, which means other Windows-based local applications and security software can be installed on the same unit. It can operate on its own, or it can join a TransForm N network visualisation system and help control several video walls from one place.
Inputs, outputs and processing capacity
Capacity depends on the cards fitted. The specification allows up to five 2-channel DVI-I cards at up to 1920x1200 at 60 Hz, up to five 2-channel DisplayPort 1.2 cards at up to 4096x2160 at 60 Hz, and up to five 8-channel analog video cards. HDMI is covered by up to four 4-channel HDMI cards and up to four single-channel 4K HDMI inputs. On the output side, the unit drives up to 16 4K displays with four graphics cards, or up to 64 HD displays using loop-through.
Under the hood, the platform uses an Intel Xeon octa-core processor rated at 2.1 GHz with 3.0 GHz maximum turbo, 32 or 64 GB of RAM, and two 1000GB 2.5-inch hard disks in a RAID-1 configuration. It provides two 1 Gb/s LAN connections and supports streaming standards including H.264, MPEG-2/4, MxPEG, MJPEG, V2D, H.263, VNC and ProServer.
Power, cooling and rack planning for Qatar
The LVC 420 is a 4U unit for a 19-inch rack. Its 800W power supply is redundant and accepts 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz, a range that covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains. The rated operating temperature is 0 to 35°C, and humidity should stay at or below 80% RH, non-condensing, at 40°C.
Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so the rack should sit in an air-conditioned comms room or control room, not in a hot store or an unventilated cabinet. The specified noise level is no more than 50 dBA at one metre, which matters if the rack sits in a room where staff work close to it.
Where the LVC 420 fits in Qatar
- Operations room at a government authority in Doha: a single controller brings CCTV and live dashboards onto one wall, while approved security software runs on the same Windows system.
- Event and conference hall in Lusail or West Bay: the controller feeds laptop, camera and presentation sources to a large wall, and the operator places each source from the console by drag-and-drop.
- Network operations centre near Hamad International Airport: RAID-1 storage and a redundant power supply support a wall that runs through long shifts, provided the rack is kept in a cooled room.
Before you request a quote
Two points should be confirmed before a purchase order is raised. First, the manufacturer's data lists this model as available in India only, so the SmartRooms Qatar team will confirm supply for Qatar. Second, the listed compliance covers UL, CB, BIS, FCC, CE, IEC 60950 and IEC 62368; ask the team which approvals apply to your installation. Set the number of displays and input sources early, since they determine how many input and graphics cards are needed.
Request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar with the number of displays, the input types and the rack location. Quotations are usually issued within one working day. We accept purchase orders, government tenders through Monaqasat, and payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. A free site survey can confirm rack position and cabling before installation.
