The Hikvision DS-C80N-01HO/4K is an output node for distributed video wall systems. Rather than relying on one central server, each node works on its own, so a fault in one unit does not stop the rest of the wall. It drives a single HDMI 2.0 output at up to 4K60 and works alongside centralised controllers, multi-function video centres and decoders, which lets a control room grow in stages without replacing equipment.
Specifications that shape the design
Each unit has one Gigabit SFP optical port and one Gigabit Ethernet port, and the two can act as hot backup for each other. It accepts 802.3at PoE, and when an external power supply is added it can run on a dual power arrangement. Power draw is rated at no more than 30 W, and the supply accepts 110 to 240 VAC. The unit measures 210 × 42 × 180 mm and is half-width, so two nodes fit the width of one rack.
Image handling is built around YUV 444 sampling, with frame synchronisation so that all outputs in a splice play in step. Audio is available on the HDMI output together with a separate 3.5 mm output, at 24-bit and 48 kHz.
Decoding and window control
Beyond driving a display, the node decodes network camera and NVR streams in H.264, H.265, Smart 264 and Smart 265. Its decoding capacity is listed as 16 channels of 1080p, or mixed combinations such as eight channels of 4 MP. A wall can hold up to 17 open windows, 1,024 scenes and 256 plans for scheduled changes, and the node supports ONVIF access and PTZ control of conference and monitoring cameras.
