Brand: LG
SKU: lg-55uh7j-h
Availability: Discontinued

Overview

The LG 55UH7J-H is a discontinued 55-inch UHD signage display from LG's UH7J series, built for bright public spaces with 700 nit typical brightness, IP5X dust protection and 10 W x 2 built-in speakers. Organisations running this model, or comparing it with newer signage, can ask SmartRooms Qatar for a quote on a current equivalent.

What the 55UH7J-H offers a public display

The LG 55UH7J-H is a 55-inch signage display from the UH7J series, and LG has discontinued it. Its 3840 x 2160 UHD IPS panel runs at 16:9 and reaches 700 nit typical brightness, which keeps content legible in lobbies, concourses and atriums where daylight or bright ceiling lighting competes with the screen. The panel is rated for 24/7 operation with a minimum lifetime of 50,000 hours.

Because the model is no longer in production, this page serves organisations that already run one and buyers comparing it with newer signage. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement, matched to the size, brightness and connectivity your site needs.

Dust protection and environmental limits

The unit carries an IP5X rating, which confirms protection against dust ingress. A conformal coating on the power board adds protection against salt, dust, metal particles and humidity, which matters in Qatar where strong winds carry fine dust that can build up inside equipment. The stated operating range is 0 to 40 °C with 10 to 80 percent humidity. Summer temperatures in Doha regularly pass 45 °C, so the screen belongs in an air-conditioned interior. Sun-exposed or unconditioned areas fall outside the rated range, and no direct sunlight rating is listed for this model, so window positions should be checked with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation.

Connectivity for mixed content sources

The inputs include two HDMI ports, a DisplayPort input and a DisplayPort output for passing the signal to the next screen in a row. A USB-C port with DP Alt Mode accepts laptops and tablets directly, alongside a USB 2.0 Type A port. Serial and network control are covered by RS232C in and out, an RJ45 LAN input and an IR input. The unit also supports Crestron Connected for network-based control with compatible AV control systems.

Where it fits in Qatar

Shopping mall atrium in Doha: a row of these panels running promotional loops and store directories, managed centrally from one content system.
Hotel lobby in West Bay: welcome messages and wayfinding, with the 10 W x 2 built-in speakers covering short announcements at the front desk.
Industrial site in Mesaieed: visitor information in an air-conditioned reception area, where the dust-protected design and coated power board reduce the risk of performance loss.

Planning checklist before you order

The head weighs 19.0 kg, or 19.6 kg with the optional ST-653T stand. Plan for at least two people to lift it.
The VESA mount pattern is 300 x 300 mm. The LSW350B wall bracket is an optional accessory.
Power input is AC 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz, with typical consumption of 110 W and a maximum of 150 W.
The optional KT-OPSF OPS kit mounts piggyback, and the display does not power the OPS unit.

SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey before wall mounting, so bracket position, cable routing and ventilation can be checked against the actual space. We deliver to all 8 municipalities of Qatar and provide professional installation. Send us your site, the number of screens and the content you plan to show, and we will return a quotation, usually within one working day. Questions about 55UH7J-H

Is the LG 55UH7J-H still sold by LG?

No. LG has discontinued the 55UH7J-H, so new units may not be available from the manufacturer. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement and advise which option suits your existing mounting, cabling and content setup.

What is this display designed for in Qatar?

It suits public-facing content in bright, busy spaces such as shopping malls, airports and hotel lobbies. In a Doha mall atrium, for example, several panels can show promotions and store directories from one content system. The 700 nit typical brightness and 24/7 rating support continuous operation, while the 55-inch size suits corridors and entrances.

Will the screen stay readable near windows or under bright ceiling lights?

Typical brightness is 700 nit, and the panel has a 28 percent haze surface treatment that softens reflections from ceiling lights and glass. Viewing angles are 178 degrees horizontally and vertically. No direct sunlight rating is listed for this model, so any position exposed to sun should be checked with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

Can it run in an outdoor or unconditioned area during Qatar summers?

No. The stated operating temperature is 0 to 40 °C, with humidity between 10 and 80 percent. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45 °C, so install it in an air-conditioned interior such as a lobby or concourse. Open-air installations fall outside the rated conditions for this model.

How does the dust protection help at a dusty industrial site?

The IP5X rating certifies protection against dust, and the conformal coating on the power board protects against salt, dust, metal powder and humidity. At sites such as Mesaieed or Ras Laffan, where fine dust is common, placing the screen in an air-conditioned reception area reduces the risk of performance loss. The 0 to 40 °C operating range still applies.

What connections does it offer for laptops and AV equipment?

The unit has two HDMI inputs, a DisplayPort input, a DVI-D input and a USB-C port with DP Alt Mode for laptops and tablets. A DisplayPort output lets you pass the signal to the next screen. RS232C in and out, an RJ45 LAN input and an IR input support network and room control, and Crestron Connected supports integration with compatible AV control systems.

Does it have speakers, and can I connect external audio?

Yes, it has built-in speakers rated 10 W x 2, plus an audio input and an audio output. No external speaker output is listed, so if you need more volume than the built-in speakers provide, the audio output can feed an external amplifier. This suits short announcements and ambient audio in hotel lobbies and reception areas.

How is content managed across several units?

The model supports SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Cloud, Mobile CMS, Connected Care and SuperSign Control+. It includes built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 16GB internal memory and a LAN port. Retail operators with outlets in Doha, Al Rayyan and Lusail can schedule local content centrally, while features such as Status Mailing and Wake on LAN help facilities teams monitor each unit.

Do I need a site survey before mounting a 55-inch panel?

We recommend one. The head weighs 19.0 kg, or 19.6 kg with the ST-653T stand, and uses a 300 x 300 mm VESA pattern. A site survey checks wall strength, bracket placement, cable routes and ventilation. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys and professional installation across all eight municipalities of Qatar.

Can a ministry or school order this through an LPO or government tender?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and supports government tenders, including Monaqasat. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. A school in Al Wakrah fitting out one corridor with several panels can raise a single LPO, then send the quantity and delivery location so we can issue a quotation, usually within one working day.
