What the IdeaHub Board 2 is built to do

The HUAWEI IdeaHub Board 2 is an interactive education display that brings writing, projection and video sharing into one panel. It comes in three models: the IHB2-65SU at 65 inches, the IHB2-75SU at 75 inches and the IHB2-86SU at 86 inches. Each model has a built-in Android system, dual Wi-Fi and a set of front and rear ports, so teachers can present and annotate from one place.

Screen, pen and eye comfort

The 16:9 panel runs at 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) and shows 1.07 billion colours using 10-bit colour depth, which is 8-bit plus FRC. The glass is rated 7H or harder, and zero-gap bonding removes the air layer between the cover glass and the display. The screen accepts 20 touch points and refreshes at 60 Hz.

Two stylus pens are included, each with a PET tip, an anti-skid body and a magnetic attachment. Writing latency is 25 ms with ±1 mm precision. Teachers can use multi-gesture erasing, real-time annotation and intelligent writing, and two people can write on the board at the same time.

For eye comfort, the screen offers optical anti-blue light, anti-glare, adaptive brightness and flicker reduction. Its low blue light (hardware solution) and eye comfort performance are certified by TÜV Rheinland.

Connecting devices and sharing from phones

The front panel has one Type-C and two Type-A ports for quick plug-in. The rear panel adds a Type-A port, a Type-B port for reverse control, two HDMI inputs, one HDMI output, a COM port, an RJ45 network port, an 80-pin OPS slot and 3.5 mm line-in and line-out jacks. Webcams, microphones and document scanners can be connected alongside a laptop.

Projection works in several ways. Teachers can use the IdeaShare app, the IdeaShare Key or the drop-down menu on a compatible phone for wireless casting, which reaches up to 4K30. Wired HDMI or Type-C connections reach 4K60. Dual Wi-Fi operates on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, and phones must be on the same LAN as the board. Annotation during projection and reverse control let presenters mark up a shared screen from the board.

Operating systems and the Windows option

The board runs Android 9.0 on a 4-core CPU with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB of flash storage. Pre-installed software takes part of that storage, so usable space is lower than the stated figure. Running Windows 10 requires an optional OPS computer module, available in i5 or i7 versions. Once fitted, one touch switches between the two systems, which helps when lessons rely on Windows teaching apps.
