Overview

The LG Createboard 86TR3DJ is an 86-inch UHD interactive digital board with an IPS panel, 20-point multi-touch and a built-in OPS slot. LG has discontinued this model, so request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement. Its Android 8.0 platform, ScreenShare Pro and Air Class suit lecture halls and boardrooms in Doha, Education City and Lusail, where teachers and presenters need annotation, shared screens and a built-in web browser.

What the LG 86TR3DJ is and why it matters

The LG Createboard 86TR3DJ is an 86-inch UHD interactive digital board from the CreateBoard TR3DJ series. It pairs a 3840 x 2160 IPS panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 60Hz refresh rate, and it is built for teaching, training and meetings where people write on the screen and share sources. LG has discontinued this model. If your organisation already owns one, or is comparing it with a newer board, SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement.

Touch, pen and writing performance

Up to 20 touch points work at the same time, so several students or colleagues can write, drag and annotate on the glass together. The screen sits 1mm behind the tempered glass, which keeps parallax low, and touch accuracy is rated at ±2mm, with objects from 3mm in diameter detected. Two pens in different colours with 3mm and 8mm tips let one person mark fine detail while another highlights a key section.

Display, mounting and environment planning

Brightness of 390 nit without glass (typical)
Contrast ratio of 1,200:1 and 10-bit colour depth
Anti-glare surface rated 7H, with 68% NTSC colour gamut
Head weight 67.45 kg, packed weight 86.6 kg
Monitor dimensions 1957 x 1160 x 87 mm, VESA interface 800 x 600

Because of the head weight, a site survey before wall fixing checks the wall structure, fixing points and cable routes. The rated operating range is 0 °C to 40 °C at 10% to 80% humidity. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so the board should sit in an air-conditioned room away from direct afternoon sun and dust-laden air from open entrances. Confirm the installation environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

Software, connectivity and classroom features

The board runs Android 8.0 with 32GB storage, 3GB RAM and an embedded web browser, so basic browsing does not need an external tablet or computer. Wi-Fi comes from a slot-type module supporting 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, with Bluetooth 4.0 and Gigabit LAN. Inputs include three HDMI ports with HDCP 2.2/1.4, RGB, RS232C, RJ45 and three USB 3.0 and three USB 2.0 Type A ports. A built-in OPS slot with OPS power lets a compatible OPS device sit behind the board. Air Class connects up to 30 students on the same network, ScreenShare Pro shows up to six shared screens, and USB Block Mode helps prevent data being copied to unauthorised devices.

Where it fits in Qatar

A secondary school in Al Rayyan refitting a science lab with a large annotation board, using Air Class for student responses during lessons.
A government meeting room in West Bay where presenters share several screens and data handling controls matter.
A training centre near Education City running mixed sessions in the room and online, combining Wi-Fi and Bluetooth peripherals.

What to plan before ordering

The unit is rated for AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz, with typical consumption of 370W, a maximum of 500W and 0.5W or less when powered off. The box includes a 3m power cord, a 5m USB cable, a 3m HDMI cable, two writing pens, a remote with batteries and the Wi-Fi module. It is rated for 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a minimum lifetime of 30,000 hours. Certifications listed are CB/NRTL, FCC Class A and CE.

SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys, professional installation and delivery to all eight municipalities of Qatar, with quotations usually within one working day. Government buyers can order against a purchase order (LPO) or a tender through Monaqasat. Request a quote to confirm the right current replacement and installation plan for your rooms.

Questions about 86TR3DJ

Is the LG 86TR3DJ still sold by LG?

No. LG has discontinued the 86TR3DJ, so it is no longer in the manufacturer's current range. If you are buying a new board or replacing one that has failed, SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement with a similar 86-inch UHD format. Send us your room size, intended use and mounting plan, and we will confirm which option suits your site.

What is the LG 86TR3DJ designed for?

It is an 86-inch UHD interactive digital board for teaching, training and meetings where people write on the screen, share sources and annotate documents. The 3840 x 2160 IPS panel suits a lecture hall or large boardroom where text and charts must stay readable from the back row. Built-in Android 8.0, Air Class and a web browser let presenters handle everyday tasks without a separate computer.

How many people can write on the board at the same time?

Up to 20 touch points can operate simultaneously, which lets several students or colleagues work on the glass at once. Touch accuracy is rated at ±2mm, and objects from 3mm in diameter are detected. The board includes two pens in different colours with 3mm and 8mm tips, so one person can write fine notes while another highlights a section.

Can I mount an OPS computer inside the board?

Yes. The LG 86TR3DJ has a built-in OPS slot with OPS power included, so a compatible OPS device can sit at the back of the board instead of a separate desktop PC beside it. This keeps cabling tidy in a classroom or meeting room. The source data does not list specific compatible OPS modules, so confirm the exact module with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

Does it have built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth?

Wi-Fi is provided by a slot-type module included in the box, supporting 802.11a/b/g/n/ac. Bluetooth 4.0 is built in, so you can connect speakers, a mouse or a keyboard for hybrid lessons where some learners join online. Gigabit LAN is available through the RJ45 port. Ask your IT team to confirm network capacity before installation, especially for ScreenShare Pro sessions on the same network.

Can the board run in a hot classroom or lobby in Doha?

The rated operating temperature is 0 °C to 40 °C, with 10% to 80% humidity. Summer temperatures in Doha can exceed 45°C, so the room must be air-conditioned, and the board should not be placed where direct afternoon sun or dusty air from an open entrance reaches it. Confirm the installation environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team during the site survey.

What wall and space do I need for an 86-inch board?

The monitor measures 1957 x 1160 x 87 mm, and the head weighs 67.45 kg, or 86.6 kg packed, so the wall must be checked before fixing. The VESA mount interface is 800 x 600. A site survey lets our team confirm wall structure, fixing points, cable routes and access for the packed carton, which measures 2112 x 280 x 1283 mm.

How does Air Class work in a university lecture?

Air Class supports up to 30 students connecting from mobile devices on the same network. The lecturer can run voting, answering and project text sharing from the board's main toolbar, so student responses appear without a separate polling system. In an Education City lecture hall with around 30 seats, this gives the instructor a live view of understanding during the session. Check network capacity with your IT team before the session.

Which ports and inputs does it provide?

Inputs include three HDMI ports with HDCP 2.2/1.4, RGB, audio in, RS232C in, RJ45 LAN, three USB 3.0 Type A and three USB 2.0 Type A. Outputs are audio out, optical and two touch USB ports. A 3m HDMI cable and a 5m USB cable are included. The RS232C input is listed in the specification, so ask SmartRooms Qatar to confirm the control options for your building system.

Is it suitable for a government meeting room where data security matters?

USB Block Mode is a security feature that helps prevent data from being copied to unauthorised devices, and it is intended for spaces where security is critical. A ministry or authority meeting room in West Bay can use it as part of its data handling rules. Government buyers can order against a purchase order (LPO) or a Monaqasat tender, and SmartRooms Qatar will usually provide a quotation within one working day.

Does the on-screen menu support Arabic?

The OSD language list includes Arabic (Egypt), along with English and many other languages. Offices and schools that work in Arabic and English side by side should check that the menu language meets their staff's needs before ordering. Ask SmartRooms Qatar to confirm the exact language options for the unit you are quoted.

What should a school ordering several units plan for?

Plan for power supply, mounting and staff briefing for each unit. Each board is rated for 100-240V supply, with typical draw of 370W and a maximum of 500W. A school ordering boards for several classrooms can raise a purchase order, and SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys, professional installation and delivery to all eight municipalities. Ask for one quotation that covers installation and accessories for every room.
