Overview

The LG 86TR3PJ is an 86-inch UHD interactive digital board with an IPS panel, touch recognition for up to 20 points at once, built-in Android 9 computing, an OPS slot and ScreenShare Pro for up to six shared screens. LG has discontinued this model. It suits schools, universities and boardrooms in Qatar that already run this board or want a comparable replacement. Request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar.

What the LG 86TR3PJ offers in one unit

The LG 86TR3PJ is an 86-inch interactive digital board that combines a UHD IPS display, infrared-type touch sensing, two 16 W speakers and an Android 9 computer in a single frame. Its touch layer recognises up to 20 points at the same time, which lets several people write, annotate and move content together. Because the board runs its own apps and web browser, a room does not need a separate PC for everyday presenting.

Discontinued model. LG has discontinued the 86TR3PJ. This page serves organisations that already run one, buyers comparing it with newer boards, and anyone looking for a replacement. Request a quote and SmartRooms Qatar will recommend a current equivalent or compatible option for your room.

Panel and touch facts that matter in daily use

The panel delivers 3840 x 2160 resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio and 1.07 billion colours, with a 1,200:1 contrast ratio and a 60 Hz refresh rate. Typical brightness is 390 nit without the protective glass, a figure to consider in rooms with large windows. The 4 mm anti-glare glass has a 28% haze rating, and the panel is rated for landscape orientation only.

Touch accuracy typically ±1 mm, with objects from Ø2 mm detected
Up to 20 simultaneous touch points on Windows, Linux, Mac and Android
Response time of 10 ms in the Paint app on Windows 10
Rated panel life of at least 30,000 hours

Shared screens, classroom tools and built-in computing

ScreenShare Pro lets users show up to six shared screens or a file on the board in real time, with Chromecast, AirPlay and Miracast mirroring on the same network. Air Class connects up to 30 students through the web browsers on their own devices, supporting voting, answers and project text sharing. Undo and redo steps help during annotation, and partial capture lets users crop part of the screen and send it to email or note apps.

Underneath, the board uses a quad core A73 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Bluetooth 5.0 and Gigabit LAN. The built-in OPS slot takes an OPS desktop module with internal power delivery, while USB Block mode and Secure Mode help control data movement and screen mirroring in sensitive rooms.

Where it fits in Qatar

In a secondary school in Al Rayyan refitting a science laboratory, the board can serve as the main teaching surface for a class of up to thirty students who join Air Class from their phones or tablets. In a ministry meeting room in Msheireb, Secure Mode and USB Block help limit what can be shared or copied. At a training centre in Education City, Bluetooth 5.0 pairs with wireless keyboards and speakers used alongside the board.

Summer heat is a planning point in Qatar. The rated operating range is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius with 10% to 90% humidity, so the board belongs in an air-conditioned room away from direct sunlight and dust-exposed entrances.

Questions about 86TR3PJ

What is the LG 86TR3PJ and who is it suited to?

The LG 86TR3PJ is an 86-inch interactive digital board with a UHD IPS panel, built-in touch, two 16 W speakers and Android 9 computing. It suits large classrooms, lecture halls and boardrooms where several people write or annotate at the same time, since it accepts up to 20 touch points simultaneously. Ask for a quote if you need a model matching your room's specifications.

Is the LG 86TR3PJ still sold by LG?

No. The manufacturer has discontinued the 86TR3PJ. If your organisation already owns one, SmartRooms Qatar can review its current needs. If you are buying now, request a quote and we will recommend a current equivalent or a compatible replacement that matches your room size and connectivity requirements.

How accurate is the touch on this board?

Touch accuracy is typically ±1 mm, and objects from Ø2 mm are registered. Up to 20 touch points work at once, which supports group writing. The 4 mm anti-glare glass has a 28% haze rating, which reduces reflections in bright rooms. Touch supports Windows 7, 8 and 10, Linux, Mac and Android, although Windows XP, Linux and Mac support one-point touch only.

Can I use the board without connecting a computer?

Yes. The board runs Android 9 with a quad core A73 processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB storage, so you can browse the web, annotate any source and use apps without a PC. Wireless connectivity covers Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax and Bluetooth 5.0, and Gigabit LAN serves wired networks. Web browsing is a network-based function and needs an active connection.

Which computer can I fit to the board?

The board has a built-in OPS slot with internal power delivery, so an OPS desktop module can sit at the back of the display. For external sources there are three HDMI inputs, an RGB input, an HDMI output, USB 3.0 Type A and USB-C ports, and an RS232C input for control. Confirm the OPS module you need with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.

Will the board run on Qatar's mains power?

The built-in power supply is rated AC 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz, which covers the 240 V, 50 Hz mains used in Qatar. Typical consumption is 320 W, with a maximum of 600 W and 0.5 W in standby. For a school installing several boards, these figures help estimate the circuit load, and a licensed electrician should confirm the final circuit design.

Can I install it in a sunny lobby or a room facing outdoors?

Not without air conditioning. The rated operating range is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius with 10% to 90% humidity, while Qatar summer temperatures can exceed 45 degrees Celsius. Choose an air-conditioned room away from direct sunlight, sun-facing glass walls and dusty entrances. A site survey from SmartRooms Qatar can check the room before installation.

What wall and space do I need for mounting?

The head weighs 65.8 kg and the packed weight is 80.7 kg, so plan for a lifting crew and a reinforced wall. The monitor measures 1957 x 1160 x 87.0 mm, with a VESA mount pattern of 800 x 600 mm. Bezel widths are 17.7 mm on three sides and 45.7 mm at the bottom. A free site survey checks the wall, power and access route before delivery.

Can teachers or staff share their screens from phones?

Yes. ScreenShare Pro shows up to six shared screens or a file in real time, supporting Chromecast, AirPlay and Miracast mirroring. All devices must be on the same network, and ScreenShare Pro is a Wi-Fi based application. When sensitive material is involved, Secure Mode can disable screen mirroring options to prevent unauthorised content from appearing on the board.

Is it suitable for a lecture hall in Education City?

It suits seminar rooms and smaller lecture spaces where the audience sits within a comfortable viewing distance of an 86-inch screen. Viewing angles of 178 degrees horizontal and 178 degrees vertical keep images readable from the side. The 390 nit typical brightness without glass works best in rooms with controlled lighting, and Air Class lets up to 30 students join using mobile browsers.

Can a ministry or government office order through an LPO or tender?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs), government tenders including Monaqasat, and payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Quotations are usually issued within one working day. Because the 86TR3PJ is discontinued, request a quote for a current equivalent and include your security requirements, such as Secure Mode and USB Block.
