What the CMM-8U camera does in a room

The CMM-8U Series AI Camera is a USB camera designed as an accessory for interactive flat panels. It follows the person at the front of the room as they move, while auto framing widens the shot to take in several participants when a group is seated. Remote attendees receive a steady picture without anyone adjusting the camera by hand during the session.

Sensor, field of view and microphone array

The camera carries a 48MP CMOS sensor with a 1/2 inch sensor size, paired with 3D digital noise reduction to keep detail clean in ordinary room lighting. Auto white balance and backlight compensation are built in, which helps when a presenter stands in front of a bright window. The 105° diagonal field of view (±5°) covers a wide table or a full front-of-room area.

Audio comes from a built-in 8-microphone array that picks up voices up to 8 meters away, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 65 dB or more. That reach suits meetings where speakers sit on both sides of a table rather than close to a single microphone.

Output formats and resolutions

Video can be output as MJPEG, YUY2 or H.264. The MJPEG setting offers the widest choice, from 8000 × 6000 down to 1280 × 720, with 3840 × 2160 and 1920 × 1080 in between. Choose the resolution your conferencing platform and room computer can handle, because the highest setting is not always the best choice for a live call.

Planning the installation

• Operating temperature is 0°C to 50°C and storage is -30°C to 70°C. During Qatar's summer, place the camera in an air-conditioned room and away from direct sun through unshaded windows.
• Dimensions are 292 × 41 × 31 mm. Plan the cable route from the panel to the room computer before installation and check sight lines from the seating area.
• The up and down angle adjusts by ±15°, so the final angle is best set during installation once the presenter's usual standing position is known.
• The operating voltage is DC 5V with working current up to 700mA. Confirm the power arrangement and cable route with your installer during the site survey.
