Overview
The Hisense 86SOF25PT is an 86-inch outdoor all-weather display that the manufacturer has discontinued. It is built for entrances, plazas and open-air frontages that need readable content all day. The UHD screen is rated at 2500 nits, the cabinet carries an IP55 rating, and fan cooling supports an operating range of -20°C to 45°C. Organisations that already run this model, or are comparing it with newer displays, can request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement.
What the 86SOF25PT is built to do
The Hisense 86SOF25PT is an 86-inch outdoor display from the fan-cooled SOF25PT series, designed to stay readable and protected in open-air locations. Hisense has discontinued this model, so this page is written for organisations that already own one, buyers comparing it with newer outdoor displays, and anyone who needs a current replacement. Request a quote and the SmartRooms Qatar team will suggest a current equivalent or a compatible replacement for your site.
Brightness, cooling and sealing for open-air sites
Most indoor panels are not built for direct sunlight. This model is specified at 2500 nits with a 1200:1 contrast ratio and a 178 degree horizontal and vertical viewing angle. A light sensor adjusts brightness to the surrounding light. The backlight is rated for 50,000 hours and the display is listed for 24/7 operation, which suits content that runs continuously.
- Cooling: a built-in airflow fan and overheating protection, with an internal layout designed using thermal simulation software.
- Enclosure: an IP55 rating, with 6.8 mm tempered, laminated, anti-reflective glass over a galvanised, powder-coated steel cabinet.
- Security: a three-point anti-theft lock, internally locked bolts, and concealed screws and hinges.
- Service access: a front door with a lock for routine maintenance.
Where it fits in Qatar
Three realistic settings suit an 86-inch outdoor totem:
- A shopping mall or retail frontage in Lusail or West Bay, showing promotions to pedestrians at the entrance, where daylight would wash out an indoor screen.
- A campus plaza in Education City, or an outpatient drop-off area at a hospital, carrying wayfinding and announcements in an open-air space.
- A yard or logistics area near Mesaieed or the Industrial Area, displaying site and safety information in an environment where dust is present.
In every case the operating range of -20°C to 45°C is the main limit. Temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C in summer, so the location should be checked for shade, airflow and cabinet placement before installation.
What to plan before ordering
At 2800 mm tall and 410 kg net, the unit is a heavy freestanding structure. It measures 1310 mm wide and 255 mm deep, and the packed shipment measures 2950 x 1520 x 580 mm, so plan access for delivery and lifting equipment. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys, which help check ground conditions, power and cable routing, and shade. Professional installation is also available.
The listed power supply is AC 110/220V at 50/60 Hz, with a maximum consumption of 1500W and built-in power. Qatar's mains supply is 240V at 50 Hz, so confirm the exact supply specification with the SmartRooms Qatar team and have a qualified electrician check the circuit before the unit arrives. Content can be loaded through the USB 2.0 port, the TF card slot or the network, and the RS232 input supports external control.
Purchases can be made by purchase order (LPO) or through government tenders, including Monaqasat. Request a quote now to receive a current equivalent or compatible replacement proposal from SmartRooms Qatar, usually within one working day.

1 file from the manufacturerQuestions about 86SOF25PT
Is the Hisense 86SOF25PT still available from the manufacturer?
No. Hisense lists the 86SOF25PT under discontinued end-of-life products, so new units of this model may not be available. If you are planning a new outdoor site, request a quote and SmartRooms Qatar will recommend a current equivalent or a compatible replacement. If you already own one, ask us about a compatible replacement that fits your existing installation.
What is this display designed for?
It is an 86-inch all-weather outdoor display for locations where content must stay visible and the equipment must be protected from weather. Its 2500-nit screen and IP55 cabinet suit building entrances, plazas and forecourts. A typical Qatar example is a mall frontage in Lusail showing promotions to pedestrians during both daylight and evening hours, where an indoor panel would be hard to read.
How bright is the screen, and does it adjust for sunlight?
The screen is rated at 2500 nits, and a light sensor adjusts brightness automatically to the surrounding light. The contrast ratio is 1200:1 and the viewing angle is 178 degrees horizontally and vertically. For an open car park or a waterfront promenade in Doha, this helps content remain readable through the day. A shaded mounting position still improves glare control and overall visibility.
Can it run in Qatar's summer heat?
The listed operating ambient range is -20°C to 45°C, with humidity from 5% to 90%. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so a position in direct midday sun may go beyond the rating. Ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to review the exact location, shade and airflow before you order, and prefer a shaded position that is away from direct sun.
What does IP55 mean for dust and sandstorms in Qatar?
IP55 means the enclosure limits dust entry to a level that does not harm the equipment, and protects against water jets from any direction. It is not fully dust-tight, so dusty sites need regular attention. For an industrial location near Mesaieed or the Industrial Area, plan periodic checks of the front door seals and the cabinet interior. SmartRooms Qatar can confirm site conditions during the free survey.
What connections does it have?
Inputs are two HDMI ports, one USB 2.0 port, one LAN port, one TF card slot and one RS232 port. Outputs are one HDMI OUT and one AV OUT. The HDMI output can pass a signal on to another display, and the RS232 input supports external control. For a campus wayfinding display in Education City, the LAN port and TF card slot give two ways to load and manage content.
Does it need a separate media player?
It runs its own Android 7.1 system on a quad-core Amlogic processor, with 2GB DDR4 memory and 16GB eMMC storage. The TF card slot supports expansion up to 128GB. The on-screen language options are listed as Chinese and English, so check Arabic language support before ordering if your content needs Arabic text on screen.
How is it connected to the network?
The unit supports a Wi-Fi or LAN connection, and 3G/4G connectivity is an optional extra. At a hospital drop-off area or a campus plaza, a wired LAN connection is usually more dependable for content updates, while 3G/4G becomes the alternative when cable routing is not practical. State which connection your site needs when you request the quote so the configuration matches your installation.
Is there a touchscreen version?
Touch is listed as an option. The touch foil supports 10 touch points with a response time of 10 ms or less. Touch suits interactive wayfinding kiosks, but it must be specified at order time. Confirm whether the unit you are quoting includes touch, especially if you are comparing it with a non-touch outdoor model.
Does it have speakers?
Yes, the display includes a built-in speaker, which suits short announcements or audio with content in a campus or transport forecourt. Outdoor sound is affected by traffic and crowd noise, so compare the speaker level with ambient noise at busy locations such as West Bay or the area near Hamad International Airport. The data does not list speaker output power, so ask for this detail when you request the quote.
What power does it need?
The listed supply is AC 110/220V at 50/60 Hz, with a maximum consumption of 1500W, and the power supply is built in. Qatar's mains supply is 240V at 50 Hz with BS 1363 sockets. Before ordering, confirm the supply specification with SmartRooms Qatar, and have a qualified electrician prepare a suitably rated circuit and a weatherproof connection. Do not switch the unit on until the supply has been verified.
How much space and structural support does an 86-inch outdoor totem need?
The cabinet measures 2800 x 1310 x 255 mm and weighs 410 kg net, so the base, ground preparation and lifting plan are critical. The packed unit measures 2950 x 1520 x 580 mm. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys to check access, ground conditions and cable routing before delivery, and professional installation is available. A single quote can cover both the unit and installation.
