Overview

The Biamp Desono C-IC6 Red is a 6.5-inch, 2-way passive in-ceiling loudspeaker with a red grille for indoor conference rooms. It covers a 130° conical pattern, takes 60W continuous with 240W peak, and sits 150 mm deep, which suits shallow ceiling voids. The magnetic grille fits without tools. It suits meeting rooms in Doha, Lusail and Education City where red is part of the interior scheme. Request a quote.

What the Desono C-IC6 Red is built to do

The Desono C-IC6 Red is a two-way passive coaxial loudspeaker made for installation in the ceiling of conference rooms. It pairs a 6.5-inch treated paper woofer with a 1-inch soft dome tweeter. The two drivers are bridge-mounted and mechanically isolated from each other, so the low and high frequency sections work independently. This is the red-grille version of the C-IC6. The published specifications match the black and white versions, so the grille colour is the main difference for the room.

Specifications that shape the buying decision

Frequency range: 60 Hz to 20 kHz.
Coverage: 130° conical dispersion, described by the manufacturer as optimised for low ceilings.
Power: 60W continuous and 240W peak.
Sensitivity and output: 87 dB nominal at 1 m, with a maximum output of 105 dB at 1 m.
Impedance: 8 ohms nominal, which allows daisy chaining.
Dimensions and weight: 277 mm diameter, 150 mm depth, 3.5 kg.
Grille: RAL 3028 red, held by a magnetic grille plate.

Wiring, amplification and installation

The C-IC6 accepts either CAT cable or standard speaker wire, so the installer can choose the method that suits the existing cabling route. The loudspeaker is blind-mounted from below the ceiling, and the magnetic grille can be fitted and removed without tools. Because the speaker is passive, it needs an amplifier. The manufacturer designed it to integrate with the Tesira AMP-450BP, a four-channel PoE+ backpack amplifier sold separately, which it says reduces wiring and installation time.

Where it fits in Qatar

In a boardroom in West Bay, a red grille can complement a fit-out that already uses red accents in joinery or artwork, while the ceiling-mounted speakers keep the table area free of equipment. In a seminar room at Education City, the 130° coverage helps spread speech from ceiling level across seats without a visible wall speaker. In a hotel meeting space in Msheireb, the magnetic grille makes future finish changes easier, since the grille plates can be painted to match the room decor.

What to plan before you order

Measure the void above the ceiling tile, because the unit is 150 mm deep.
Confirm the environment: the data lists indoor use only, so keep the speaker in air-conditioned rooms rather than covered outdoor or open-sided areas.
Decide on the amplifier and cabling route early, including whether the Tesira AMP-450BP will be used.
Plan quantities in pairs, since the manufacturer sells this model in pairs.

The model carries a 5-year warranty from the manufacturer and is listed as Microsoft Teams Certified and Zoom Certified. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys, professional installation and delivery to all eight municipalities of Qatar, with quotations usually issued within one working day. Questions about Desono C-IC6

What is the Desono C-IC6 Red and who is it for?

The Desono C-IC6 Red is a 6.5-inch, two-way in-ceiling loudspeaker with a red grille, designed for indoor conference rooms where speech clarity matters. It suits IT and facilities teams fitting out meeting rooms, boardrooms and seminar rooms in Qatar that want audio hidden in the ceiling while keeping a red accent in the room design. It is a passive speaker, so it works with an amplifier.

How does the red version differ from the black and white Desono C-IC6?

The published specifications, including the 6.5-inch driver, 130° dispersion, 60W continuous power and 87 dB sensitivity, are the same across the black, white and red versions. The difference is the grille finish: the red model uses RAL 3028, the black uses RAL 9017 and the white uses RAL 9016. Choose red when the room's colour scheme calls for it.

What power rating should I plan for?

The loudspeaker is rated at 60W continuous and 240W peak power, with 8 ohms nominal impedance. The amplifier and wiring plan should match that rating. Because the manufacturer sells this model in pairs, plan the power budget per pair and confirm the amplifier channel layout with the SmartRooms Qatar team before the quotation is finalised.

Can it be connected with CAT cable?

Yes. The C-IC6 supports both CAT cable and standard speaker wiring, so the installer can choose based on the cabling route in the ceiling void. Use the Tesira AMP-450BP, sold separately, when you want the amplifier to integrate directly with the speaker. Confirm the cable and amplifier combination with the SmartRooms Qatar team during the site survey.

Does it need the Tesira AMP-450BP?

The speaker is passive, so it needs an amplifier to operate. The manufacturer designed the C-IC6 to integrate with the four-channel PoE+ backpack Tesira AMP-450BP, which is sold separately. The source data does not list other compatible amplifiers, so ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to confirm the amplifier choice before you order.

Will it fit in a ceiling void of limited depth?

The speaker is 150 mm deep and 277 mm in diameter. Measure the void above the ceiling tile before ordering, and allow room for the cable and the amplifier connection. Ask for a free site survey so the installer can check the depth, access route and ceiling type in your Doha or Lusail building.

Is it suitable for outdoor or unconditioned spaces in Qatar's heat?

No. The manufacturer lists the operating environment as indoor only. In Qatar, where summer temperatures can exceed 45°C, keep the loudspeaker in air-conditioned rooms rather than covered outdoor areas, open-sided lobbies or unconditioned storage. If your space is unusual, confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before the quotation is issued.

Is it certified for Microsoft Teams and Zoom?

Yes, the source data lists it as Microsoft Teams Certified and Zoom Certified. This matters for Qatari organisations running hybrid meetings between Doha and teams abroad, because the loudspeaker is verified for those platforms. Check the certification against your room system and the conferencing software version your organisation uses.

What warranty comes with it?

The Desono C-IC6 Red carries a 5-year warranty from the manufacturer, and products supplied by SmartRooms Qatar are covered by that manufacturer's warranty. For a government body or school issuing a purchase order, include the model and item number 920-00925-40000 on the LPO so the record matches the product you receive.

How should a private school in Al Wakrah order several rooms?

A private school in Al Wakrah fitting out several classrooms or seminar rooms can request one quotation covering all rooms. The purchase order can list item number 920-00925-40000 with quantities planned in pairs, since the manufacturer sells this model that way. SmartRooms Qatar delivers to all eight municipalities and can arrange a site survey before installation begins.

Which rooms suit the 130° coverage pattern?

The 130° conical dispersion is described as optimised for low ceilings, so it suits boardrooms, training rooms and seminar rooms where speakers need to cover seats from above. In a university seminar room at Education City, for example, the pattern helps speech reach students across the room. A site survey will confirm the speaker positions against the seating plan.

Can the grille be removed without tools, and can it be painted?

Yes. The grille uses a magnetic plate, so it can be installed and removed without tools, which helps facilities teams access the speaker for servicing. The manufacturer notes that the grille plates can be painted to match the room decor. Agree on any painted finish with the SmartRooms Qatar team before the speaker is ordered.
