The Biamp TesiraFORTÉ VT DSP is a 1RU fixed I/O audio processor for conference rooms. It provides 12 analog inputs with Acoustic Echo Cancellation on every input, 8 analog outputs, up to 8 channels of USB audio, SIP VoIP over RJ-45 and an FXO telephone interface. It suits small to medium meeting rooms in Qatar that run unified communications platforms alongside telephone lines.
What the TesiraFORTÉ VT does in a meeting room
The TesiraFORTÉ VT is a fixed I/O digital signal processor, so its input and output count is set by the model rather than by add-on cards. It receives 12 analog microphone or line inputs and feeds 8 analog outputs, which lets one unit manage the microphones and loudspeakers of a medium-sized conference room. Its role is to keep the audio leaving the room clean and to send the right sound to the right destination, whether that is a video call, a loudspeaker or a telephone line.
Echo cancellation and audio control on every input
Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) is applied to all 12 inputs. In a room with several ceiling or table microphones, sound from the loudspeakers can otherwise return to the far end of a call. Because AEC covers every channel, a boardroom with a microphone at each seat can be designed without treating some channels differently. Input gain runs from 0 to 66 dB in 6 dB steps, the maximum input level is +24dBu, and phantom power of +48VDC at 7mA per input is available for microphones that need it.
Connecting laptops, UC platforms and telephones
- USB audio: up to 8 configurable channels at 16- or 24-bit depth and 48kHz sample rate
- VoIP: a 2-channel SIP interface on RJ-45 for IP telephony
- Analog telephony: a standard FXO interface on RJ-11
The USB channels let the DSP act as an audio interface for unified communications platforms. In a bring-your-own-meeting-room setup, a visitor connects a laptop and uses the room's microphones and speakers. The telephony interfaces suit an organisation moving to IP calling that still needs an analog line during the transition.
Control, configuration and room integration
Configuration is carried out over Ethernet with Biamp software, covering signal routing, mixing, equalisation, filtering and delay. For external control, the unit provides an RS-232 port and a four-pin GPIO connector, which connect to control systems and room automation platforms. A front-panel OLED display with capacitive-touch navigation shows status and gives direct local access to the device.
Installation planning and operating conditions in Qatar
At 1.75 inches (44 mm) high, 19.0 inches (483 mm) wide and 10.5 inches (267 mm) deep, weighing 8 lbs (3.63 kg), the unit fits a standard 19-inch equipment rack. Its internal universal power supply accepts 100-240VAC at 50/60Hz and draws less than 35W, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains. The rated ambient operating range is 0–40°C, with 0–98% humidity non-condensing, up to 2,000 metres altitude. Outdoor summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so install the unit in an air-conditioned comms room rather than an unventilated cabinet.
Typical settings include a government office in Msheireb consolidating meeting-room audio, a private school in Al Wakrah fitting out new classrooms with a central comms rack, and a hotel conference room in West Bay hosting visiting presenters. Each needs a survey of rack space, cable routes and room acoustics before installation.
Compliance, warranty and ordering
The unit is TAA compliant and CE marked, UL and C-UL listed, and carries FCC Part 15B, FCC Part 68, Industry Canada CS-03, RCM and RoHS markings. It is covered by a 5-year warranty from the manufacturer. Request a quote for the TesiraFORTÉ VT DSP and SmartRooms Qatar will confirm the configuration, supply, delivery to any of the eight municipalities of Qatar, and professional installation, with a free site survey available beforehand.
