The Biamp TesiraFORTÉ X 1600 is a digital signal processor for conference rooms that handles analog and networked audio in one unit. It takes microphone and line signals, applies echo cancellation and mixing, and sends audio to your conferencing platform, so a room can be run from a single device instead of several separate processors. At 206 mm wide and deep and 37.3 mm high, it is compact enough for a wall-side or rack installation.

Networking, audio formats and interoperability

The unit has five Gigabit Ethernet ports. Four of them are PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at Class 4), so microphones, control panels and conferencing peripherals can take their power from the same cable that carries their signal. For networked audio it supports up to 128x128 AVB channels, 32x32 Dante channels and AES67 interoperability. Analog connectivity is 2x2 I/O, and a built-in SIP interface links the DSP to standards-based telephony over Gigabit Ethernet.

Echo cancellation and USB conferencing

Sixteen AEC channels can be assigned to any analog or digital input. This matters in rooms where participants sit at different distances from the table or move around during a session, because each microphone path can be treated independently. The USB audio interface offers mono or stereo at 48 kHz with 16-bit or 24-bit depth and HID synchronisation, so the DSP can act as the room audio device for Teams Rooms, Zoom or BYOM hardware. IEEE 802.1X port authentication is also supported for networks that require it.

Setup, tuning and control

Biamp Launch measures room acoustics and applies processing with a single button press. That reduces the variation between rooms fitted by different installers, which is useful for a school or ministry with many similar rooms. Installers who need more control can use Tesira software for routing, mixing, equalisation, dynamics, filtering, delay and diagnostics. Workplace Control is built into the platform to manage Tesira blocks, third-party devices and Apprimo touch interfaces, and the unit is compatible with the Parlé Presenter Lift for presentation audio without handheld microphones.

Check the environment first. The operating range is 0 to 40 °C with 0 to 98% humidity, non-condensing, up to 2,000 m altitude.
