What the LG 55CT5WN does in a meeting room

The LG 55CT5WN puts a 55-inch 4K display, a camera, a microphone array, speakers and a Windows computer into one unit, so a meeting room can run video calls without a separate PC, camera or audio set. LG has discontinued this model. This page is written for organisations that already run it, teams comparing it with newer displays, and buyers who need a replacement for an existing unit.

Panel, touch and on-screen writing

The panel is a 55-inch IPS screen with 3840 x 2160 resolution, 450 nits typical brightness, a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 10-bit colour, showing about 1.07 billion colours. Its touch layer accepts up to 10 simultaneous touch points, and a touch pen is supplied. The surface carries a 12% haze treatment, which describes how much the screen diffuses light and therefore affects glare from ceiling lights. The 60Hz refresh rate suits presentations, document sharing and video calls.

Camera, microphones and speakers

The 4K camera offers a 120-degree field of view, 4x electronic zoom and video framing that keeps the active speaker in view. Ten microphones use beamforming, and the manufacturer rates pickup at up to 6 metres. Two 10W speakers are built in. Pickup depends on the room, and the manufacturer notes that performance can differ by environment, so the site survey is the right time to check the layout.

Built-in computer and connections

The unit runs Windows 10 IoT Enterprise on an AMD Ryzen Embedded V1605B processor with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD. Video inputs are two HDMI ports and one DisplayPort input through USB Type-C, with one DisplayPort output over USB Type-C. Other ports are two USB 3.1 Type-A, one USB Type-C and one RJ45 LAN. Wi-Fi is 802.11ac 2x2 and Bluetooth is 5.0. One:Quick Remote Meeting, Chrome and Skype are included, and the launcher bar gives quick access to conferencing apps.

Where it fits in Qatar

In a government ministry office in Msheireb, a bilingual team working in Arabic and English can join a call with a colleague abroad, use the Arabic on-screen menu and connect a laptop over HDMI. A training room at a university in Education City can use touch and annotation during workshops, with notes emailed to participants afterwards. A private school in Al Wakrah fitting out a staff meeting room can use the built-in recording function for minutes, subject to the rules of the conferencing app in use.

What to plan before ordering

• Mounting: wall mounting uses a 300 x 300 mm VESA pattern; the head weighs 26 kg, so check wall strength during a free site survey.
• Desk use: the 2-pole ST-653TW stand is sold separately; with it, overall height is 815 mm.
• Heat: operating range is 0 to 40°C at 10 to 80% humidity, so keep it in an air-conditioned room away from direct sun, since Qatar summer temperatures can exceed 45°C.
• Power: AC 100 to 240V, 50/60Hz, with built-in power; typical consumption 127W, maximum 245W.
• Warranty: 3 years on the panel and 1 year on the PC board.
