What the NEB0105HI-4K does in an AV over IP system
The NEB0105HI-4K is a single-channel distributed encoder for AV over IP installations. It takes one video source from either an HDMI 1.4 or a DisplayPort input, encodes that signal inside the unit and places the stream on the network, where a compatible receiver can show it in another room of the building. Each encoder carries one channel, so a project can grow one source at a time rather than replacing a central matrix.
Inputs, encoding and output quality
The HDMI and DisplayPort inputs are separate collection interfaces, so the box can take a signal from an HDMI device or a DisplayPort workstation. A DVI source can be used through a convertor on the HDMI input. Video is encoded as H.265 or H.264, with H.264 selected by default, and audio is encoded as G.711a. The encoder accepts resolutions from 1024×768 up to 4096×2160.
Frame rate depends on resolution. Full HD at 1920×1080 and 2560×1440 run at up to 60 fps, 3840×2160 runs at up to 30 fps and 4096×2160 runs at up to 24 fps. For slides and dashboards these are practical limits. For fast-moving video, test the chosen resolution on your own network before rollout.
Network, control and integration
A 10/100/1000M self-adaptive RJ45 port connects the unit to the network, and the firmware supports TCP/IP, RTP, RTSP, HTTP, UDP, DHCP and NTP. Streams use RTSP or the manufacturer's private protocol. Remote reboot, firmware upgrade and reset to default settings can all be carried out over the network, which saves IT staff a trip to a comms room.
For control integration the unit includes an RS232 DB9 port, an RS485 port, two alarm inputs, two alarm outputs and a USB 2.0 port. Dahua supplies an SDK, demo software and a development manual, which suits system integrators writing custom control logic for corporate or government systems.
