The Hikvision DS-C30S-S23 is an 8U chassis for a video wall controller. It offers 23 hot-swappable service board slots, redundant power supplies and six fans, and can splice up to 88 screens when fully populated. Control rooms, operations centres and integrators running large display walls in Doha and beyond will value its redundancy. Request a quote for your project.
What the DS-C30S-S23 chassis does in a video wall
The DS-C30S-S23 is the 8U chassis in Hikvision's C30S video wall controller series. It is the housing that holds the main control board, service boards and power supplies that drive a display wall. Signals arrive through input boards, are arranged into windows and layers, and leave through output boards or LED controller boards toward the screens.
Because the chassis is a platform rather than a fixed-function unit, its final capability depends on the service boards fitted. That is why the specification below describes the full configuration, and why your quotation should list the board set alongside the chassis.
Redundancy and hardware built for continuous running
The chassis has three power supply slots with two units installed, a redundant power design and dual device hot backup. Six fans adjust automatically to temperature, and the device flags fan faults and temperature threshold exceedances. Two main control board slots are provided, with one main control board installed, and 23 mixed slots accept hot-swappable service boards.
Inputs, outputs and decoding capacity
With suitable boards fitted, the chassis accepts VGA, DVI, HDMI, 4K HDMI and 4K DisplayPort sources, along with network cameras and NVRs. It supports composite and independent audio input, YUV 444 signal sampling and up to sixteen 4K UHD sources. On the output side it drives DVI, HDMI, 4K HDMI and LED controller boards, and frame synchronisation keeps every output aligned for smooth playback.
For network video, decoding capacity reaches 256 channels, including 128 channels of 1080p at 30 fps when fully populated. Supported mainstream formats include H.264, H.265 and MJPEG, and the unit can switch to a sub stream automatically when needed.
Video wall control: windows, scenes and multiple walls
- Splices up to 88 screens and runs up to 8 separate video walls
- 16 open windows and up to eight 4K source windows per screen
- 128 scenes and 128 plans for saved layouts
- Up to 100 view groups for automatic switching
- 8 background images and up to 12 subtitles across the device
Where it fits in Qatar
A government operations room in Msheireb that combines camera feeds, a dashboard computer and a video conference link on one wall can use the window and scene functions to move between live incident views and planning screens.
A hospital command centre in Al Sadd tracking dashboards and corridor cameras on a multi-screen wall can rely on the alarm functions to flag network disconnections, IP conflicts and fan faults early.
An energy company monitoring room in Mesaieed or Ras Laffan that needs network cameras from several sites on one wall can use ONVIF and RTSP access to bring those sources in.
What to plan before ordering
Plan the rack first. The chassis takes 8U and measures 442 × 354.8 × 447 mm. Full configuration weighs up to 57.54 kg, so plan for a lifting team or a lift during installation. Power input is 100 to 240 VAC at 50/60 Hz and draw reaches up to 1,000 W at full configuration, so confirm circuit capacity with your installer. The packing list includes an AC power cord, a grounding cable, an audio adapter cable and a serial port cable.
The working temperature range is 0 to 50 °C and humidity is 10 to 90%. Qatar summer temperatures can exceed 45 °C, so keep the chassis in an air-conditioned, well-ventilated comms room. The two 10/100/1000 Mbps management ports need a network plan, and the device supports SDK, RTSP and ONVIF. A free site survey from the SmartRooms Qatar team can confirm rack position, cable routes and power before you commit.
