What the Hisense 55L35B5U is

The Hisense 55L35B5U is a 55-inch LCD panel from the L35B5U series, designed to be tiled with other panels into a digital signage video wall. Each panel runs at 1920 x 1080 and can be mounted in landscape or portrait, so one wall can combine wide promotional content with tall vertical displays. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so it is most often sought by organisations extending an existing wall and by buyers comparing it with newer panels before choosing a replacement.

Specifications that matter on a video wall

On a multi-panel wall, the gap between screens matters as much as the picture. The 3.5mm bezel-to-bezel width keeps seams narrow so content reads as one image. Brightness is rated at 500 nits, helping content stay visible in lit lobbies, and the 1200:1 typical contrast ratio adds depth to darker scenes. The D-LED backlight, 16.7M colours at 8-bit and 178°/178° viewing angle keep the wall consistent for people approaching from different directions. The front polarizer has an anti-glare coating with 25% haze and a 3H rating, which reduces reflections from windows and ceiling lights.

Panel: 55-inch LCD, 1920 x 1080 resolution, 8 ms refresh rate
Lifetime: 50,000 hours, rated for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week use
Mounting: VESA 400 x 400 mm pattern with M6 fixings
Dimensions: 1213.6 x 684.3 x 94.4 mm per panel

Connectivity, content and control

The panel offers two HDMI inputs, two DisplayPort connections that work as input and output, one DVI input, one VGA input and two RS232 ports that work in and out for control. It supports HDCP 1.4 and includes a remote controller, infrared reception and an Ethernet cable. Internal memory and a dual-core system-on-chip let you load media straight onto the display for playback without a separate player, and you choose your own content management system. The panel does not accept an OPS media player module, and it has no built-in speaker, so audio must be planned separately. On-screen languages are Chinese and English only, which matters for offices working in Arabic and English side by side.

Where it fits in Qatar, and what to plan

Consider a shopping mall atrium in West Bay where a row of panels shows promotions and wayfinding. Check the 500 nits brightness and anti-glare surface against daylight reflecting off polished floors. A corporate lobby in Lusail or Msheireb is another fit: a wide wall can carry company news and visitor information, while a portrait panel beside the lift shows a building directory. A Doha hotel lobby can use the same setup for event listings, with audio planned separately. The rated operating range is 10 to 40 degrees Celsius at 10% to 80% relative humidity, so this panel belongs in climate-controlled indoor spaces. Keep it away from direct sun and hot corners, and confirm the position with the SmartRooms Qatar team, since Qatar summers exceed 45°C. The 100-240V, 50/60Hz input with 240W rated consumption covers Qatar's 240V, 50Hz supply. The source data does not state the plug type, so confirm the power cord for BS 1363 sockets before ordering. Each panel weighs 28.1 kg net and 38 kg packed, so plan wall structure and fixings for the full array. A free site survey confirms wall load, cable routes and clearance for the 94.4 mm depth before installation.

Because this model is discontinued, request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement. Send us the wall size, number of panels and installation location, and our team will confirm options in your quotation, usually within one working day. Purchase orders and government tenders are welcome.

Questions about 55L35B5U

Is the Hisense 55L35B5U still sold new?

The manufacturer has discontinued the 55L35B5U, so the quickest route is a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement. Send us the wall size, number of panels and installation location, and our team will confirm the options and what we can supply in your quotation, usually within one working day.

What is this panel for in a shopping mall in West Bay?

It is a 55-inch LCD panel built for video walls and digital signage, showing advertisements, product promotions, news and event information. In a West Bay mall atrium, a row of these panels can carry one campaign across the whole wall. Its 500 nits brightness keeps content visible in strong light, and its 1920 x 1080 resolution suits standard high definition material.

Can the panel be used in portrait orientation for a corridor directory?

Yes. The 55L35B5U supports landscape and portrait orientation, so it can stand vertically beside a lift lobby or along a corridor to show a building directory or wayfinding. The same model can sit in landscape elsewhere in the building, keeping one panel type across the project. Confirm the orientation against the wall plan before fixing brackets.

How narrow is the bezel, and does it matter when extending a wall?

The bezel-to-bezel width is 3.5mm, which keeps the gap between adjacent panels small. For a corporate office in Lusail extending an existing video wall, this matters because a visible seam interrupts moving content. Check that new panels match the size and bezel of the existing wall before ordering, and ask our team to confirm compatibility during the site survey.

Will it work in a Doha hotel lobby with a glass front?

The rated operating range is 10 to 40 degrees Celsius with 10% to 80% relative humidity, so the panel suits climate-controlled indoor spaces. In a Doha hotel lobby with a glass frontage, direct sunlight and afternoon heat could push the screen beyond that range. Confirm the position against sun exposure and air conditioning before we issue the quotation.

Does the panel have built-in speakers for event areas?

No. The 55L35B5U has no built-in speaker, so audio for a hotel foyer, event area or announcement system must be provided separately. Decide early whether sound comes from the content player or a separate amplifier, and include the audio cabling in the site survey so the installation is complete on the day.

Can I connect an external media player to it?

Yes, through the standard inputs, but not as an OPS module. The panel has two HDMI inputs, two DisplayPort connections that work as input and output, one DVI input, one VGA input and two RS232 ports for control. Because the manufacturer data lists it as not OPS-compatible, an external player must be a separate unit connected to one of these inputs.

Can it play content without a computer?

The panel has internal memory, and its dual-core system-on-chip supports offline and cloud-based content. You can upload media directly to the display for instant broadcast without external hardware or software. You also choose your own content management system, so you can select the software that fits your workflow. Discuss how playlists will be updated with SmartRooms Qatar before deciding on the setup.

Does the on-screen menu support Arabic for government offices?

The manufacturer data lists Chinese and English as the supported languages, so the on-screen menu does not offer Arabic. For a ministry or government office working in Arabic and English side by side, the display can be set up in English with a short bilingual guide for staff. Ask for full menu details when you submit your quotation request.

Will the power supply work with Qatar's 240V electricity?

The power input range is 100-240V at 50/60Hz, with a rated consumption of 240W. Qatar's 240V, 50Hz supply falls within that range. The manufacturer data does not state the plug type, so confirm that the supplied power cord fits BS 1363 Type G sockets before ordering. Our team can check this with you during the quotation process.

How should I plan the structure for a 55-inch wall in Qatar?

Each panel weighs 28.1 kg net and 38 kg packed, and measures 1213.6 x 684.3 x 94.4 mm. The VESA pattern is 400 x 400 mm with M6 fixings, which suits the optional wall mount. For a multi-panel wall, a free site survey confirms wall load, bracket type, cable routes and clearance before installation, and professional installers handle the fixing.
