Brand: LG
SKU: lg-49vl5g-a
Availability: Discontinued

Overview

The LG 49VL5G-A is a 49-inch full HD IPS LCD panel built for tiling into video walls, with 2.25 mm side bezels and 500 nit typical brightness. LG has discontinued this model, so SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement for existing wall projects. It suits control rooms, lobbies and corporate reception areas in Doha, Lusail and Msheireb that need a 24/7 display wall.

What the LG 49VL5G-A is and who still needs it

The LG 49VL5G-A is a 49-inch LCD panel from the VL5G series, designed to be tiled with other units to form one large picture. LG has discontinued this model. If your organisation already operates VL5G panels and needs to match or extend an existing wall, SmartRooms Qatar will review the options with you. For a new project, we can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement.

Panel facts that matter on a video wall

Each unit uses an IPS panel with a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 (FHD), a typical brightness of 500 nit, a 60Hz refresh rate and an 8ms grey-to-grey response time. The side bezels measure 2.25 mm and the top and bottom bezels 1.25 mm, which narrows the dividing lines between neighbouring panels. The panel is rated for 24/7 operation with a typical life of 60,000 hours and a minimum of 50,000 hours.

Native 1,920 x 1,080 (FHD) resolution
Typical brightness of 500 nit
Viewing angle rated at 178 x 178 degrees
Portrait and landscape orientation supported

The IPS panel keeps colour consistent for viewers standing at different positions, which matters on a wall mounted above eye level. Colour temperature can be shifted in 100K steps from the remote, and each grey-scale value can be adjusted for white balance. Tile mode handles arrays up to 15 x 15 panels.

Control, menus and software

The on-screen menu is organised for commercial use and includes Arabic among its languages. The four-way remote and large on-screen text make settings easier to reach from a distance. On the software side, the data lists embedded local content scheduling, fail over, screen rotation, SNMP, Wake on LAN, HDMI-CEC and a temperature sensor. Compatibility is listed with SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control and Control+, SuperSign WB, SuperSign Media Editor and Connected Care, and with Crestron Inside for third-party control.

Where it fits in Qatar

A three-by-three wall in a Msheireb boardroom can show one presentation across nine panels, with the narrow bezels keeping charts and video readable. In a Doha operations centre, the same layout can display live status for staff working around the clock, provided the room is air-conditioned. A school in Al Rayyan or Education City could use a single row of panels in a reception area to show announcements scheduled from a central system, while a corporate lobby in West Bay or Lusail could use the wall for wayfinding and company news.

Questions about 49VL5G-A

Is the LG 49VL5G-A still sold by LG?

No. LG has discontinued the 49VL5G-A, so it is no longer part of the current range. If you are planning a new wall in Doha, Lusail or Msheireb, SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement. If your organisation already runs VL5G panels and needs to match or extend them, send us the wall layout and we will review the options with you before you order.

What is the 49VL5G-A designed to do?

It is a 49-inch LCD panel built for tiled video walls, showing content around the clock in indoor spaces. Its 1,920 x 1,080 native resolution, 500 nit typical brightness and 24/7 operation rating suit control rooms, lobbies, reception areas and corporate media walls. Because each panel is one module in a larger array, the main decisions are the wall layout, the mounting method and the control setup.

How much does the bezel matter in a boardroom wall in Msheireb?

The bezel is the frame around each panel, and on this model it measures 2.25 mm on the sides and 1.25 mm at the top and bottom. In a boardroom where nine units display one presentation, thinner edges reduce the dividing lines that cut across charts, maps and video. Some seam will remain visible regardless, so review the layout on site during a free survey.

Can it run around the clock in a hospital command room or near Hamad International Airport?

Yes for continuous operation: the data lists 24/7 operation, a typical panel life of 60,000 hours and a minimum of 50,000 hours. The environment is the limit. The rated operating range is 0 °C to 40 °C with 10 to 80 percent humidity, so the wall should sit in an air-conditioned room. Confirm the room conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation.

Can I place it in a sunlit West Bay lobby with a glass frontage?

Not without controlling the sun. The operating range tops out at 40 °C, while Qatar summer temperatures often rise above 45 °C and dust storms can occur. A glass-fronted lobby in West Bay needs the wall set back from direct sunlight and inside cooled air. If the space is hot or dusty, request a quote and our team will advise on suitable positioning before you order.

How many panels can I tile together, and what size wall results?

Tile mode supports layouts up to 15 x 15 panels, so the 49VL5G-A can form small arrays or much larger walls. Each unit measures 1077.6 mm wide and 607.8 mm high, so a three-panel row is roughly 3.2 metres wide and a three-by-three wall is about 3.2 metres by 1.8 metres before any frame. Confirm the final layout and the wall load before ordering.

Which inputs does it have for a video wall controller or media player?

It has two HDMI inputs with HDCP 1.4, one DisplayPort input with HDCP 1.3, one DVI-D input, an audio input, RS232C, IR and RJ45 LAN inputs, and a USB 2.0 Type A port. Outputs are DP out, audio out and RS232C out, which let signal and control pass to the next panel. Match each panel's inputs to your controller's outputs before ordering.

How can the wall be controlled over a network?

Control options include RS232C, RJ45 LAN and IR, plus SNMP for monitoring, Wake on LAN and HDMI-CEC. The data also lists Crestron Inside compatibility for third-party control. The package includes a remote control with two batteries, an IR receiver and an RS232C cable, so basic control can be started as soon as the panels are installed.

Can a school in Al Rayyan schedule announcements on the wall from its network?

The data lists embedded local content scheduling and compatibility with SuperSign CMS and Connected Care, so a school can plan announcements, timetables and events from a central system. Fail over, a boot logo and a no-signal image are also listed. Ask SmartRooms Qatar which setup suits your network and media player before you request a quote, so the wall, controller and software match.

Does the on-screen menu support Arabic?

Yes. The data lists Arabic among the on-screen display languages, alongside English and many others. Staff in a Doha office working in Arabic and English can set the menu to the language they prefer. The large on-screen font and four-way remote help operators adjust settings from a distance. Confirm the language you need when requesting your quotation.

What mounting do I need, and how much does each unit weigh?

Each head weighs 16.9 kg and 29.3 kg packed, so plan a mounting structure that carries the combined load. The VESA mount interface is 600 x 400. Optional wall mounts are the WM-L640V for landscape and the WM-P640V for portrait. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys before installation, which is useful for checking wall strength in a Doha office or school hall before panels are hung.

What are the power draw and certifications?

The panel runs on AC 100-240V at 50/60Hz with built-in power. Typical consumption is 100W and maximum is 120W per panel, while power-off and DPM standby are each rated at 0.5W. Listed certifications are CB/NRTL for safety, FCC Class A, CE and KC for EMC, and ErP compliance. For a nine-panel wall, plan for around 900W typical draw and check the circuit with your electrician.
