Name: LG 49VL5G-M 49-inch 500 nits FHD Slim Bezel Video Wall Panel
Brand: LG
SKU: lg-49vl5g-m
Availability: Discontinued

Overview

The LG 49VL5G-M is a 49-inch narrow bezel LCD video wall panel with Full HD resolution, IPS technology and 500 nit typical brightness. Its side bezels measure 2.25 mm, keeping seams slim across tiled walls in operations rooms, boardrooms and lobbies. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so organisations that already own it, or are looking for a replacement, should request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible option from SmartRooms Qatar.

What a 2.25 mm side bezel does for a video wall

The LG 49VL5G-M is a 49-inch LCD panel designed for tiled installations. Its side bezels measure 2.25 mm and its top and bottom bezels measure 1.25 mm, so the gaps between neighbouring screens stay narrow and content reads as one picture rather than a grid of separate displays. Each tile uses a 1920 x 1080 IPS panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio, giving a Full HD canvas per unit.

Video walls are often mounted above eye level, so viewing angle matters. The panel is rated at 178 x 178 degrees, and its image gap reduction function is designed to soften the visible seams when video plays across several units.

Picture and operating facts worth checking before you order

Brightness: 500 nit typical, with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 1.07 billion colours.
Motion and colour: 60Hz refresh rate, 8ms grey-to-grey response time and NTSC 72% colour gamut.
Calibration: colour temperature adjustable in 100K steps, with grey scale white balance for each value.
Duty cycle: rated for 24/7 operation with a typical lifetime of 60,000 hours.
Environment: operating range of 0 to 40 °C and 10 to 80 percent humidity.

Where this 49-inch wall fits in Qatar

Operations room in Doha: a government authority combining several panels into a status wall, where the narrow bezel keeps dashboards and maps easy to read from across the room.
Media lab in Education City: a university team showing lecture captures and research visuals, with local content scheduling and a menu that can be set to Arabic.
Corporate lobby in West Bay: a company wall for brand content and visitor information, placed in an air-conditioned space with the temperature range confirmed during the survey.

Planning the mount, power and cooling

The panel has a VESA mount pattern of 600 x 400 mm and measures 1077.6 x 607.8 x 89.7 mm. The head weighs 16.9 kg and the packed unit weighs 21.9 kg, so a multi-panel wall needs a structure rated for the total load. A guide bracket and screws are included. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys before installation, which is the right time to check wall loading, cable routing and room temperature.

Power draw is 100W typical and 120W maximum, with 60W in smart energy saving mode. The power supply accepts 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, which covers Qatar mains. Heat output is 341 BTU/Hr typical and 409 BTU/Hr maximum, which should be included in the air-conditioning load for the room. For a wall of several panels, we recommend issuing a purchase order (LPO) so that all units, brackets and cables are specified together.

Discontinued model: buying options

LG has discontinued the 49VL5G-M. Organisations that already run this model can share their wall layout, bezel gap and input requirements with SmartRooms Qatar, and we will recommend the closest current equivalent or compatible replacement. Buyers comparing models should check bezel width, brightness, connectivity and mounting pattern side by side before deciding.

Questions about 49VL5G-M

What is the LG 49VL5G-M best suited for?

The 49VL5G-M suits tiled video walls where narrow seams matter more than a single large screen, such as operations rooms, control centres, lobbies and showrooms. Its 2.25 mm side bezels and 1920 x 1080 IPS panel keep content readable across several units. Because it is rated for 24/7 operation, it fits long-shift environments like a government operations room in Doha or a hospital command centre.

Is the LG 49VL5G-M still available from SmartRooms Qatar?

LG has discontinued the 49VL5G-M, so new stock of this exact model may not be available. Request a quote and the SmartRooms Qatar team will check which current equivalent or compatible replacement matches your wall size, bezel width and connectivity needs. If you already run this model, send us your wall layout and we will advise on the closest compatible option.

How bright is the panel, and will it work in a room with large windows?

The panel has a 500 nit typical brightness, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and a 3 percent haze surface treatment. These figures suit controlled indoor lighting. The source data does not give a direct sunlight rating, so for a room with large windows in Lusail or Doha, check the glare and window placement during the free site survey before ordering.

What operating temperature and humidity does the panel support?

The panel operates between 0 and 40 °C with 10 to 80 percent humidity. Outdoor summer temperatures in Qatar regularly exceed 45 °C, so the panel should be installed in an air-conditioned room that keeps the ambient temperature within this range. Confirm the room's cooling capacity during the site survey.

Which inputs and outputs does the 49VL5G-M provide?

Inputs include two HDMI ports (HDCP 1.4), one DisplayPort input (HDCP 1.3), one DVI-D input, audio in, IR in, RS232C in, one RJ45 LAN input and one USB 2.0 Type A port. Outputs include DisplayPort out, audio out and RS232C out. There is no HDMI output and no RGB input, so plan your source devices around these ports.

Can I daisy chain several panels from one source?

Yes. The daisy chain takes HDMI, DisplayPort or DVI-D as input and passes the signal on through DisplayPort output. Because the manufacturer lists DisplayPort as the only daisy chain output, plan the cable path so each panel receives the signal in turn. SmartRooms Qatar can confirm the cabling layout during the site survey.

Does the panel have built-in Wi-Fi, storage or a media player?

No. The panel has no built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, no internal eMMC memory and runs non-webOS firmware. Content is sent from an external player or PC. The manufacturer lists compatibility with SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control+ and SuperSign WB, and the panel supports local content scheduling and Crestron Connected control.

How can the wall be controlled and monitored over a network?

The panel includes an RJ45 LAN input, RS232C control, SNMP, Wake on LAN and HDMI-CEC. Local content scheduling and fail over are also supported. A university media lab in Education City, for example, could schedule content locally and let IT staff monitor the wall over the network while controlling it through RS232C or Crestron-compatible systems.

What are the mounting dimensions and weight for planning a wall?

The VESA mount pattern is 600 x 400 mm. Each head measures 1077.6 x 607.8 x 89.7 mm and weighs 16.9 kg, with a packed weight of 21.9 kg. A guide bracket and screws are included. For a multi-panel wall, confirm the wall structure can carry the total load, and book a free SmartRooms Qatar site survey before fixing brackets.

What is included in the box?

The package includes a remote controller with two batteries, a power cord, an RS232C cable, a DisplayPort cable, an IR receiver, a guide bracket, screws and the manual. The manufacturer lists no optional accessories for this model. If you need additional cables for a chained wall, include them in your quotation request so they are specified with the panels.

How much power and cooling load does a wall of these panels add?

Each panel draws 100W typical and 120W maximum, dropping to 60W in smart energy saving mode, with 0.5W in standby. Heat output is 341 BTU/Hr typical and 409 BTU/Hr maximum. For a control room in Doha with several panels running around the clock, add these figures to the air-conditioning load calculation before choosing the installation room.

Can the on-screen menu be shown in Arabic for mixed Arabic and English teams?

Yes. The on-screen display language list includes Arabic alongside English and many other languages. Government offices and schools in Qatar that work in Arabic and English side by side can set the menus to suit the operators. The menu structure is designed for commercial use, with a remote that navigates four directions.

Does the manufacturer provide security updates for this model?

The manufacturer lists security update support for five years from the product launch date. This matters for organisations in Qatar that must keep networked displays patched under internal IT policies. If security support is a requirement for your tender or LPO, mention it in your quotation request so the SmartRooms Qatar team can confirm the details for your order.
