LG 49VM5C (Discontinued) · Replacements in Qatar

Name: LG 49VM5C 49-inch Narrow-Bezel LCD Video Wall Panel
Brand: LG
SKU: lg-49vm5c
Availability: Discontinued

Overview

The LG 49VM5C is a 49-inch narrow-bezel LCD video wall panel with 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, 500 cd/m² typical module brightness and a 1.8mm joint between adjacent panels. It supports portrait and landscape orientation, OPS compatibility and SuperSign software. LG has discontinued this model, so SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or compatible replacement for control rooms, lobbies and campus command centres across Qatar.

A 49-inch narrow-bezel panel for tiled video walls

The LG 49VM5C is a 49-inch LCD panel designed to be tiled into a video wall, where the gap between screens matters as much as the picture. Each unit has a 0.9mm bezel on all four sides, and the joint between two adjacent panels measures 1.8mm. That keeps dashboards, maps and live feeds readable across the grid rather than broken by thick frames. LG has discontinued this model. This page is written for organisations that already run 49VM5C units, buyers comparing it with other video wall panels, and anyone who needs a replacement for an existing wall in Qatar.

Panel and connectivity details that shape the build

Resolution: 1,920 x 1,080 Full HD per panel
Brightness: 500 cd/m² typical at module level
Orientation: portrait or landscape mounting
Inputs: HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-D, OPS, audio, USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and RGB
Outputs: DisplayPort and audio
External control: RS232C, RJ45 and an IR receiver

This mix of inputs suits a wall fed by a PC, a media player or a laptop-based presentation system. The OPS compatibility lets a compatible media player sit inside the display, which keeps cabling tidy in a crowded room. The control options allow facilities teams to manage sources, power and settings from a central system when the wall is run remotely.

Where it fits in Qatar

In an operations or command room in Doha, a grid of 49VM5C panels can show monitoring, traffic or facilities status during each shift. For a hotel lobby in West Bay or Msheireb, portrait-mounted panels can display wayfinding, event schedules and welcome content, provided the space is air-conditioned. At a university library or student services hall in Education City, a landscape wall can present course information and campus announcements to students and visitors.

What to plan before you order

Each head weighs 17.5 kg and the VESA mount interface is 600 x 400mm, so the wall structure, brackets and fixings must be checked before installation. Each unit measures 1,075.6 x 605.8 x 86.2 mm. The optional mounts listed for this model are the WM-L640V for landscape and the WM-P640V for portrait. Power is rated 100-240V at 50/60Hz with built-in power, typically 120W, and 70W in smart energy saving mode. That rated range covers 240V mains, but confirm the final electrical arrangement during the quotation. The operating range is 0 to 40°C with 10 to 80 percent humidity. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so the wall must sit in an air-conditioned space, and the environment should be confirmed before purchase.

The model is listed with UL, cUL, CB, TUV and KC safety approvals, FCC Class A, CE and KCC EMC approvals, and Energy Star 7.0. Optional accessories include the KT-OPSA OPS kit, the EB-B100 HDBaseT unit and the MP500 or MP700 external media players.

Discontinued model: next steps

Because LG no longer manufactures the 49VM5C, matching an existing wall can take more planning. If you own units, note the model, the variant 49VM5C-B and your wall layout. SmartRooms Qatar will quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement, and our team can confirm bezel size, mounting and control requirements before you commit. We deliver to all eight municipalities of Qatar, arrange professional installation and carry out free site surveys. Request a quote today for a replacement or expansion of your 49VM5C wall.

Questions about 49VM5C

Has LG discontinued the 49VM5C?

Yes. LG has discontinued the 49VM5C, so new units may no longer be available from the manufacturer. This page serves owners who need replacement or expansion panels, buyers comparing it with other 49-inch narrow-bezel panels, and anyone seeking a replacement. Request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar and we will confirm which current equivalent or compatible replacement we can supply for your project.

What should I send when requesting a replacement panel?

Send your existing wall layout, the number of panels, the model 49VM5C-B if known, and the location of the wall. We will quote a current equivalent or compatible replacement and check bezel size, the 600 x 400mm VESA mount pattern, orientation and control requirements. Quotations are usually issued within one working day, and a free site survey can be arranged before mounting a 17.5 kg head.

Is the 49VM5C suitable for an operations control room in Doha?

It can be, when the room is air-conditioned and the wall is sized for its content. The 1.8mm joint keeps tiled monitoring dashboards readable, 1,920 x 1,080 resolution gives each panel Full HD detail, and 500 cd/m² typical brightness suits controlled indoor lighting. Confirm the room stays within the 0 to 40°C operating range before installation, as Doha summers can be very hot.

How narrow is the gap between panels in a video wall?

The bezel is 0.9mm on the top, bottom, left and right of each panel, and the joint between two adjacent panels measures 1.8mm. Narrow gaps reduce the visual break across dashboards, maps and floor plans. The final appearance depends on how the panels are tiled and fixed, so the installer checks alignment during the site survey before the wall is finished.

Can the panel be mounted in portrait orientation for a corridor or wayfinding wall?

Yes. The data lists portrait and landscape orientation, and the optional WM-P640V wall mount is listed for portrait use. A portrait wall suits corridors, lift lobbies and wayfinding displays in government offices, schools or clinics in places such as Al Wakrah or Lusail. Confirm the mount, cable routing and orientation with our team before ordering.

Which inputs does the 49VM5C accept for connecting sources?

The inputs are HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-D, OPS, audio, USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and RGB, and the outputs are DisplayPort and audio. This covers a PC, a laptop with HDMI or DisplayPort, a media player and older RGB sources. Check this list against your existing equipment before ordering extra cables, adaptors or players.

Can I run a media player inside the display?

The 49VM5C is listed as OPS type compatible, so an OPS-format media player can be fitted to the unit. The data also lists the MP500 and MP700 as attachable external media players, and the KT-OPSA OPS kit as an optional accessory. Choose the option that suits your content and cabling, and ask us to confirm compatibility for your exact setup.

Which wall mounts fit the 49VM5C?

The optional wall mounts listed for this model are the WM-L640V for landscape and the WM-P640V for portrait use. The VESA mount interface is 600 x 400mm, so any bracket sourced independently must match that pattern and support the 17.5 kg head weight. Ask SmartRooms Qatar to include the correct mount in your quotation to avoid mismatches on site.

How much does each panel weigh, and what should I check on the wall?

Each head weighs 17.5 kg and measures 1,075.6 x 605.8 x 86.2 mm. Check that the wall or frame can carry the combined load of the grid, plus brackets and cabling. Older block walls and columns often need reinforcement. A site survey before installation confirms the fixing method and cable routes for buildings in Doha, the Industrial Area or Msheireb.

Can I install it in an outdoor or unconditioned area in Qatar?

No. The operating range is 0 to 40°C with 10 to 80 percent humidity. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, and dust storms are common in many areas. Install the wall inside an air-conditioned room such as a lobby or control room, and confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team during the quotation process.

Does the 49VM5C work on Qatar's 240 V supply?

The power supply is rated 100-240V at 50/60Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V mains supply. It uses built-in power, with typical consumption of 120W and 70W in smart energy saving mode. Confirm the final electrical arrangement, including socket type and circuit planning, with our team before installation so the wall is commissioned safely.

Which software and control options does it support?

The source lists SuperSign-w lite and SuperSign-c as compatible software. For control, the panel offers RS232C, RJ45 and an IR receiver, and the basic package includes a remote controller and an RS-232C cable. These options let a facilities team manage the wall centrally or locally. Tell us your control system before ordering so we can quote the right cables and accessories.
