Overview
The LG 55VH7J-H is a discontinued 55-inch FHD LCD video wall panel with a 1.74mm panel-to-panel bezel and 700 nits typical brightness. Its IPS panel holds 178-degree viewing angles, and it runs in portrait orientation with a menu designed for the 9:16 ratio. Organisations in Qatar that already run this model, or want a like-for-like replacement for a control room or lobby wall, should request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar.
What the LG 55VH7J-H is, and why it is discontinued
The LG 55VH7J-H is a 55-inch LCD panel from LG's VH7J video wall series, designed to be tiled with other panels into one large display. LG has discontinued this model. This page is written for organisations in Qatar that already run it and need matching panels, for buyers comparing it with newer video wall panels, and for anyone looking for a replacement. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement.
Panel facts that matter on a tiled wall
Each panel delivers Full HD at 1920 x 1080 on an IPS panel, with 700 nits typical brightness, a 60Hz refresh rate and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Its 1.74mm panel-to-panel bezel is the main design point. Because the frame is so thin, text, floor plans and video that cross tile edges look continuous rather than broken up by a heavy grey border.
- Viewing angle: 178 degrees horizontally and vertically, with a 40-degree half-luminance angle, which suits screens mounted above eye level.
- Colour control: colour temperature can be adjusted in 100K steps from the remote, and each grey-scale value can be tuned for white balance.
- Contrast and response: 1,000:1 native contrast ratio and 8ms grey-to-grey response time.
- Orientation: runs in portrait or landscape, with an on-screen menu designed for the 9:16 portrait ratio.
Control, content and connectivity
The VH7J-H runs the webOS 4.1 platform with 8GB of internal memory, so it can play content without a separate media player. Two HDMI inputs, one DisplayPort input and a DVI-D input give you several ways to connect sources, with HDCP 2.2 on HDMI and DisplayPort. A daisy chain from HDMI, DisplayPort or DVI-D to a DisplayPort output simplifies wiring between tiles. LAN, RS232C and IR ports allow a control system or the SuperSign CMS and Control+ software to manage the wall, and four simultaneous video tags help a wall show several regions at once.
Where it fits in Qatar
A ministry operations room in Doha might tile a 3 by 3 array to show live dashboards, where the narrow bezel keeps the wall readable from the desks. A hotel lobby in West Bay could use a smaller array for wayfinding and welcome content, but it must sit in an air-conditioned space. An energy company's control room in the Industrial Area or Mesaieed benefits from the conformal-coated power board and IP5X dust protection, provided the room is kept within the operating range.
What to plan before ordering
- Each head weighs 18.8 kg and the packed weight is 28.0 kg, so confirm the wall or frame load before mounting.
- The VESA mount interface is 600 x 400 mm, and a guide bracket and screws are included.
- Each head measures 1212.2 x 683.0 x 86.9 mm, so calculate the overall wall width including the bezels.
- Rated operating temperature is 0 to 40 °C and humidity 10 to 80 percent. Qatar summer heat means the room must be air-conditioned.
- Typical draw is 200W and maximum is 250W on a 100 to 240V, 50/60Hz supply.
- OPS is optional through the KT-OPSF kit and is not built in.

Questions about 55VH7J-H
Is the LG 55VH7J-H still available from LG?
No. LG has discontinued the 55VH7J-H, so it may not be available from the manufacturer. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement that matches your wall size, bezel layout and mounting. Send us the details of your existing panels, the number of units and the room where the wall will sit, and we will return a quotation, usually within one working day.
What is the LG 55VH7J-H designed for, and who should buy it?
It is a 55-inch Full HD LCD panel for building tiled video walls in commercial spaces such as control rooms, boardrooms and reception areas. Its 1.74mm panel-to-panel bezel and 700 nits typical brightness suit walls viewed from a distance in lit rooms. For example, a ministry operations room in Doha could use it for live dashboards. The data lists no touch function, so it suits viewing and monitoring rather than interactive use.
How narrow is the bezel, and how does it affect a video wall?
The panel-to-panel bezel measures 1.74mm, with 1.3mm at top and left and 0.44mm at bottom and right. Active area to active area is 2.49mm. Across a multi-panel wall, these narrow gaps reduce the visible break between screens, so spreadsheets, maps and video look more continuous. An image gap reduction feature also adjusts objects that sit on bezel boundaries. Ask for a wall drawing during the site survey to confirm alignment.
Can it be mounted in portrait orientation?
Yes. The data lists both portrait and landscape operation, and the on-screen menu is designed for the 9:16 portrait ratio, with larger fonts and a long, clearly grouped menu. This suits corridors, vertical information boards and wayfinding screens in hospitals, shopping malls or government buildings in Qatar. Confirm the bracket orientation and cable routing with the installer before ordering.
Will it cope with Qatar's heat and dust in a hotel lobby?
The rated operating temperature is 0 to 40 °C, with humidity from 10 to 80 percent. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45 °C, so the wall must sit in an air-conditioned area, away from direct sunlight and window glare. The panel is IP5X tested for dust, and its power board has conformal coating against salt, dust and humidity. In a hotel lobby in West Bay, check the ventilation design during the site survey.
What inputs and connections does it have?
It has two HDMI inputs with HDCP 2.2, one DisplayPort input with HDCP 2.2, one DVI-D input with HDCP 1.4, and a DisplayPort output for daisy chaining. It also has LAN in and out, RS232C in and out, IR in, audio in and out, and one USB 2.0 Type A port. The data lists no HDMI output and no RGB input, so confirm that your source matches before ordering.
Do I need a media player, and can I add an OPS PC?
A separate media player is not needed for basic playback, because the built-in processor and 8GB eMMC run the webOS 4.1 platform. An OPS computer can be added through the optional KT-OPSF kit, which is listed as piggyback compatible. OPS power is not built in, so the kit must be requested separately. Discuss your content requirements when requesting a quote.
How much power does it use, and does it suit Qatar's supply?
The power input is AC 100 to 240V at 50/60Hz with built-in power. Typical draw is 200W and maximum is 250W, with 0.5W in power-off mode. Typical heat output is 682 BTU/hr and maximum is 853 BTU/hr. Qatar's 240V, 50Hz mains falls within this input range. For a control room in the Industrial Area or Mesaieed, calculate the air-conditioning load for the full wall before ordering.
What should we plan for when mounting a wall of these panels?
Each head weighs 18.8 kg and the packed weight is 28.0 kg, so check the wall or support frame first. The VESA interface is 600 x 400 mm, and a guide bracket and screws are included. Each head measures 1212.2 x 683.0 x 86.9 mm. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey before installation, which confirms load capacity, access and cable routes for multi-panel walls.
Can we monitor and manage the wall remotely?
Yes, with the right software. The data lists SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control+, SuperSign WB, Crestron Connected, SNMP, Wake on LAN, Control Manager and Group Manager. LG ConnectedCare is an optional cloud service that remotely diagnoses display status. Tell us which management tools your IT team uses when you request a quote, so the configuration matches your network.
Is it suitable for a school or government office buying several units through an LPO or tender?
Yes. A private school in Al Wakrah fitting out an assembly hall or control room with several panels can issue one purchase order covering all units. SmartRooms Qatar accepts LPOs and government tenders, including Monaqasat, and payment is by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Send the number of panels, your wall layout and the delivery location in Qatar, and we will prepare the quotation.
Does the on-screen menu support Arabic?
Yes. The on-screen display language list includes Arabic alongside English and many other languages. This helps offices in Msheireb or Doha that work in Arabic and English side by side, since the menu language can be selected during setup. Language choice affects the on-screen menu only, so check your content and signage language requirements with our team when requesting a quote.
