Overview

The LG 55VL7F-A is a 55-inch IPS video wall panel with a 3.5 mm bezel-to-bezel gap, 700 nits typical brightness and full HD resolution, built to tile into a larger wall. LG has discontinued this model. It suits control rooms, lobbies and corridors in Qatar that already run VL7F panels, or buyers who need a current equivalent. Request a quote and we will advise on a replacement.

What the discontinued 55VL7F-A offers a video wall

The LG 55VL7F-A is a 55-inch LCD panel built for tiling into video walls. LG has discontinued this model, so it is aimed at organisations that already run VL7F panels and need matching units, and at buyers comparing it with other 55-inch narrow-bezel displays. If you need this exact model or a current equivalent, request a quote and the SmartRooms Qatar team will confirm compatibility and options before you order.

Each panel uses IPS technology with a native 1,920 x 1,080 resolution. Typical brightness is 700 cd/m2, with a 1,200:1 contrast ratio and a 178 x 178 viewing angle, so the picture keeps its colour for viewers standing at different points in a room.

Narrow bezels and picture uniformity across the wall

On a video wall, the frame between panels interrupts every moving graphic. The 55VL7F-A has a 3.5 mm bezel-to-bezel gap, made up of 2.25 mm on the top and left and 1.25 mm on the bottom and right. The panel includes an image improvement algorithm that reduces visible gaps when playing video across tiled displays, and it supports both landscape and portrait mounting.

Colour temperature can be changed in 100K steps with the remote, and each grey-scale value can be adjusted, not only full white. This helps when several panels need to look identical side by side.

Where it fits in Qatar

Government lobby in Msheireb: a group of panels in portrait or landscape showing service information beside the reception desk.
Hotel or mall atrium in West Bay or The Pearl: a wall in a bright lobby, where 700 nits of typical brightness helps content stand out under bright lighting.
Logistics or energy control room in the Industrial Area or Mesaieed: a monitoring wall running 24 hours a day, with a typical lifetime rated at 60,000 hours.

Planning power, heat and mounting

Each panel draws 165 W typical and 195 W maximum, with 85 W listed for smart energy saving. Plan electrical circuits and the room cooling load for the full panel count, not a single unit. The power supply is built in and rated for 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz, a range that includes the 240 V mains used in Qatar.

Operating conditions are 0 to 40 C with 10% to 80% humidity. Qatar summer temperatures can exceed 45 C, so install the wall in an air-conditioned room and confirm the room stays within that range. The head unit measures 1,213.4 x 684.2 x 93.1 mm and weighs 20.3 kg. Check the wall or frame against the 600 x 400 mm VESA pattern and the weight before mounting, and book a free site survey with SmartRooms Qatar if the structure is unclear. Optional WM-L640V (landscape) and WM-P640V (portrait) wall mounts are listed for this model.

Ordering and next step

The box includes a remote controller, power cord, RS232C cable, DP cable, IR receiver, guide bracket, screws and manual. The packed weight is 33 kg, so plan lifting with at least two people. Schools and government bodies can order on a purchase order or LPO, and government tenders through Monaqasat are accepted. Request a quote with the number of panels, the wall layout and the orientation, and we will usually send a quotation within one working day.

Questions about 55VL7F-A

Is the LG 55VL7F-A still made by LG?

LG has discontinued the 55VL7F-A, so it is no longer in the current LG range. If you already run VL7F panels and need matching units, or you are planning to replace an existing wall, request a quote. We will check which current 55-inch narrow-bezel panel or compatible replacement fits your wall layout, power and mounting, and set out the options in the quotation.

What is the 55VL7F-A designed for?

It is a 55-inch IPS LCD panel for building a video wall, where several screens show one continuous image. Typical brightness is 700 nits and the native resolution is 1,920 x 1,080. Government lobbies in Msheireb, hotel atria in West Bay or The Pearl, control rooms and corridors are typical settings. It is a display only, so a content player and content management software are needed alongside it.

How narrow is the gap between two adjacent panels?

The 55VL7F-A has a 3.5 mm bezel-to-bezel gap between adjacent panels, made up of 2.25 mm on the top and left and 1.25 mm on the bottom and right. The panel also includes an image improvement algorithm that reduces visible gaps when playing video across tiled displays. Narrow frames matter on a wall viewed from a distance, because they interrupt moving graphics less.

Can the 55VL7F-A run 24 hours a day?

The data lists 24-hour operation and a typical lifetime of 60,000 hours. For a logistics or energy control room in the Industrial Area that runs continuously, plan ventilation and room temperature so the panels stay within the 0 to 40 C operating range. Size the cooling load for the total panel count, and check the electrical circuits before installation.

What inputs and control connections does it have?

The panel offers two HDMI inputs, plus DisplayPort, DVI-D, audio and USB inputs, with DisplayPort and audio outputs. For control it supports RS232C in and out, an RJ45 LAN input and an IR input. The box includes the remote controller and an RS232C cable, so you can plan control wiring from the start of the project.

Does it accept an OPS media player?

No. The manufacturer data lists OPS-type compatibility as No, so the panel cannot take an OPS media module. Content must come from an external player or PC connected to the HDMI or DisplayPort inputs. Ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to confirm the player and cable set before you order, so the wall is ready for installation.

A private school in Al Wakrah wants announcements on a corridor of panels. What software do we need?

The data names SuperSign CMS for content management and SuperSign Control or Control+ for control and monitoring. For a school in Al Wakrah showing timetables and event notices on several corridor panels, these are the platforms listed for the model. Confirm the software edition that suits your network and the number of displays before requesting the quotation.

Can the panels be mounted in portrait in a narrow office or corridor?

Yes, the data lists both landscape and portrait orientation. The optional wall mounts are the WM-L640V for landscape and the WM-P640V for portrait, and the VESA pattern is 600 x 400 mm. A portrait corridor wall in a Doha office needs a different bracket from a landscape wall in a hotel lobby, so confirm the orientation before ordering.

Is it suitable for a spot near a window or outdoors in Doha?

The rated operating range is 0 to 40 C with 10% to 80% humidity. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45 C, so the panel should sit in an air-conditioned indoor space, not outdoors or in a hot position near a window. The data does not cover dust or outdoor exposure, so ask SmartRooms Qatar for a site survey before installation.

How much power does a full wall draw?

Each panel draws 165 W typical and 195 W maximum, and the data lists 85 W in smart energy saving. The built-in power supply accepts 100-240 V at 50/60 Hz. A 3 x 3 wall of nine panels reaches a maximum of 1,755 W before media players and switches are added, so check the electrical circuit before installation.

What comes in the box, and how heavy is each unit?

The box includes a remote controller, power cord, RS232C cable, DP cable, IR receiver, guide bracket, screws and manual. The head unit weighs 20.3 kg, the packed weight is 33 kg and the carton measures 1,353 x 980 x 263 mm. Plan lifting with at least two people and confirm the wall or frame can carry the combined weight of the full array.

Can a school or government office buy several panels on an LPO?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar supplies against purchase orders (LPOs), accepts government tenders including Monaqasat, and accepts payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. For a lobby or corridor wall of several 55VL7F-A panels, send the panel count, the layout and the orientation with your request, and the quotation is usually issued within one working day.
