What the LG 65UH5E is and where it works best

The LG 65UH5E is a 65-inch UHD signage display with a 3,840 x 2,160 native panel, built for showing menus, wayfinding, promotions and information in indoor public spaces. It belongs to the UH5E series. LG has discontinued this model, so organisations in Qatar that already run it, or are comparing it with newer signage, should ask for a quote on a current equivalent or a compatible replacement.

Brightness, haze and picture detail for bright rooms

The panel is rated at 500 nits typical brightness and carries a non-glare coating with 28% haze. That combination helps text stay readable when a bright atrium or a window behind the screen throws reflections across the image. The UHD resolution gives four times the pixel count of FHD, and the series supports HEVC encoding for stable UHD video playback.

Built-in signage software and multi-zone content

The webOS Smart Signage Platform runs on the display itself, so a separate media player is only needed if you want one. The embedded content management system lets staff build and edit content from internal or external sources and set playlists by schedule. Picture-by-picture mode shows up to four input sources at once, while picture-in-picture plays a main and a sub screen together in several layouts. A Group Manager lets one master display distribute playlists to other displays on the same network.

Connections, control and compatibility

• Inputs: three HDMI, one DisplayPort, one DVI-D, two USB 2.0 and audio.
• Outputs: DisplayPort, audio (off, fixed or variable) and an external speaker connection.
• Control: RS232C in and out, RJ45 LAN and IR input.
• Media player: OPS type compatible, with the OPS Kit (KT-OPSF) listed as optional.

The series is certified for Crestron Connected integration with professional AV control systems and for compatibility with Cisco Spark Room Kits. Beacon and Bluetooth Low Energy support lets shop staff send coupons and information in real time, and the display can operate as a wireless access point for mobile devices.

Where it fits in Qatar

In Msheireb or West Bay, a retail unit can place the 65UH5E near the entrance to show current offers, with coupons pushed to shoppers through Bluetooth beacons. A hospital reception in Al Sadd could split the screen so that wayfinding sits beside health information and queue details. A company training room in the Industrial Area or Education City could show a presenter's laptop on one input and reference material from a second source using picture-in-picture.

Planning the installation

Overall dimensions are 1,458.6 x 848.9 x 40.1 mm, with a head weight of 26 kg and a packed weight of 32.5 kg, so plan for a team of two and a wall that can carry the load. The VESA mount interface is 300 x 300 mm. The operating range is 0°C to 40°C at 10% to 80% humidity, so choose an air-conditioned indoor location and check any window-facing or sun-exposed spot before installation, since Qatar summer temperatures can exceed 45°C. The built-in power supply accepts 100-240V at 50/60Hz and draws 140 W typical and 200 W maximum. Optional accessories include the ST-651T stand, LSW350B wall bracket and SP-5200 speaker.
