Overview

The LG 65UH5N-E is a 65-inch UHD signage display that LG has discontinued, so this page serves organisations that already own one or need a replacement. It combines a 3840 x 2160 IPS panel rated 500 nit typical with built-in webOS 6.0 and 24/7 operation, suiting lobbies and corridors in Doha. Request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement.

What the LG 65UH5N-E is

The LG 65UH5N-E is a 65-inch UHD signage display from the UH5N series, designed to show content in lobbies, corridors, showrooms and meeting areas. LG has discontinued this model, so this page is written for organisations that already run one, buyers comparing it with newer displays, and anyone who needs a like-for-like replacement for a retired or failed unit. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement.

Panel quality for screens viewed from a distance

The 3840 x 2160 IPS panel has four times the pixel count of Full HD, which keeps small text and fine graphics sharp at the distance people usually stand from a reception desk or elevator lobby. Typical brightness is 500 nit, and the anti-glare treatment with 28% haze reduces reflections from windows and ceiling lights, an important point in Qatar where daylight is strong. The 178 x 178 degree viewing angle keeps colour consistent for viewers standing to the side.

The panel supports 10-bit colour (1.07 billion colours) and covers 95% of the BT709 colour gamut. Its edge backlight is rated at 1,100:1 contrast, with a rise time of 8 ms and fall time of 10 ms, and the rated life is 50,000 hours minimum for 24/7 operation.

Software and connections

The display runs webOS 6.0 with 16GB of internal memory, and its processor handles several tasks without a separate media player. Built-in Wi-Fi, an RJ45 LAN port and SuperSign software, including SuperSign Control, SuperSign Cloud and Connected Care, cover remote management. Video inputs are three HDMI ports and one DisplayPort, all accepting 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz, and HDMI and DisplayPort can be daisy-chained to an HDMI output limited to 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz.

Control options include RS232C in and out, IR input, and USB 2.0 Type A. Management features include Group Manager, Fail over, Tile Mode up to 15 x 15, PIP and PBP (up to four), SNMP, Wake on LAN, Crestron Inside and HDMI-CEC. Portrait and landscape orientation are both supported.

Where it fits in Qatar

Hotel lobby in West Bay: a 65-inch panel in a lobby or lift area shows wayfinding, event schedules and welcome messages, with content managed centrally from head office.
Private school in Al Wakrah: corridor and staff room displays for announcements and timetables, with Arabic and English menu options available on the display.
Bank branch in Msheireb: a queue-area screen for service messages, placed away from direct sun and entrance glass.

Planning the installation and next step

The head weighs 24.2 kg and ships in a 30.4 kg package, so plan for two people to lift it and check the wall structure before mounting. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys. The VESA pattern is 300 x 300 mm. Measuring 1450.3 x 830.3 x 29.7 mm without the IR module, the panel is slim, and with the slim bracket it can sit about 13 mm from the wall. Optional accessories include the WB21LMA/B slim wall mount, the OLW480A/B wall mount and the AM-B330S wall mount adapter. The tilt range goes to 30 degrees for face-down mounting.

Keep the display indoors in an air-conditioned space: its operating range is 0°C to 40°C with 10% to 80% humidity, and Qatar summer temperatures can exceed 45°C. Typical power draw is 145 W (200 W maximum), with a 100-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz power supply. When sizing cooling for a small room, plan for a typical heat load of about 495 BTU/hr.

Because this model is discontinued, send your existing model number and mounting location to SmartRooms Qatar and request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement. Quotations usually follow within one working day, and purchase orders, bank transfer and cheque payments are accepted.

Questions about 65UH5N-E

Is the LG 65UH5N-E still sold by LG?

No. LG has discontinued the 65UH5N-E, so it is no longer in the manufacturer's current range. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement, aiming to match the key requirements: 65-inch screen, 3840 x 2160 resolution, 24/7 operation and the 300 x 300 mm VESA mounting pattern. Send your existing model number and the installation location, and we will prepare options in a quotation.

What kind of content and setting is this display built for?

It is a standard UHD signage display for showing marketing, wayfinding and information content in business spaces such as lobbies, corridors and waiting areas. Its 3840 x 2160 panel and 500 nit typical brightness keep content clear for viewers a few metres away, such as in a hotel lobby in West Bay, Doha.

Can it play content without a separate media player?

Yes. The built-in processor runs webOS 6.0 with 16GB of internal memory. Content can be scheduled locally with Local Contents Scheduling, loaded from a USB device, or managed through SuperSign Cloud and SuperSign CMS. The display also supports gapless playback, a booting logo and a no-signal image, which helps continuous playback in public spaces.

Which inputs and outputs does it have?

It has three HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input, each supporting 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz with HDCP. The signal can be passed on through one HDMI output at 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz, which is useful for daisy chaining. Control and network connections include RS232C in and out, an IR input, an RJ45 LAN port and a USB 2.0 Type A port. Audio out and a built-in speaker are also provided.

Can I mount it outdoors or near a sunny window in Doha?

No, it should not be installed in an unconditioned space. The operating range is 0°C to 40°C with 10% to 80% humidity, while Doha summer temperatures can exceed 45°C. Choose an air-conditioned indoor position away from direct sun, and confirm the exact spot with the SmartRooms Qatar team during the site survey.

Will it fit a corridor wall at a school in Education City?

Check the wall space before ordering. The panel measures 1450.3 x 830.3 x 29.7 mm without the IR module, with side and top bezels of 8.9 mm and a 12.9 mm bottom bezel. With the slim bracket, the display sits about 13 mm off the wall. Measure the corridor width and the mounting height, then request a free site survey before installation.

How heavy is it, and what mounting hardware is needed?

The head weighs 24.2 kg and the packed unit weighs 30.4 kg. It uses a 300 x 300 mm VESA pattern. Optional accessories include the WB21LMA/B slim wall mount, the OLW480A/B wall mount and the AM-B330S wall mount adapter. Choose the accessory that suits your wall type, and plan for two people to lift the panel.

Can it run in portrait orientation for menus or wayfinding boards?

Yes. The display supports both portrait and landscape orientation, with screen rotation and external input rotation settings to suit either mounting. Portrait works well for directory boards and information panels near lifts or in mall corridors, such as a shopping centre in Al Rayyan. Check cable routing and the bracket before fixing it in portrait position.

Does the on-screen menu support Arabic?

Yes. The on-screen display language list includes Arabic alongside English, French, Spanish and many others. This suits Doha offices that work in Arabic and English side by side, as staff can set the menu language to their preference. The language of the content shown depends on the text you load onto the display.

How does it connect to building control or AV systems?

It supports RS232C serial control with in and out ports, an IR input and IR daisy chaining through RS232C. Its feature list also includes Crestron Inside, Cisco certification, SNMP, HDMI-CEC and Wake on LAN for network management. This helps facilities teams monitor several screens from one place, such as boardroom displays or a campus network in Education City.

How much power does it use, and what heat load should a small room expect?

Typical consumption is 145 W, with a maximum of 200 W, equal to about 495 BTU/hr typical and 682 BTU/hr maximum. Smart Energy Saving reduces consumption to about 101.5 W, and power-down draw is 0.5 W. Use the maximum figure when sizing air conditioning for a small meeting room in Al Sadd or Lusail.

Can a government school order several units through an LPO?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar supplies against purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including Monaqasat, and accepts payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. List the quantity, mounting locations and any accessories you need, and we will prepare one quotation covering the order. Products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
