Name: LG 65UM5N-E 65-inch UHD Signage Display
Brand: LG
SKU: lg-65um5n-e
Availability: Discontinued

Overview

The LG 65UM5N-E is a 65-inch UHD signage display with a 3840 x 2160 IPS panel, 500 nit typical brightness and webOS 6.0 with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It runs around the clock, supports portrait and landscape mounting and can be tiled into video walls. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or compatible replacement for offices, lobbies and campus corridors in Qatar.

What the LG 65UM5N-E is built for

The LG 65UM5N-E is a 65-inch display from the UM5N standard signage series, built to show menus, wayfinding, announcements and promotional content in busy indoor spaces. Its 3840 x 2160 IPS panel and 16:9 aspect ratio give sharp text and images at normal viewing distances, and the screen can be mounted in either landscape or portrait orientation.

Picture performance and connectivity

The panel delivers 500 nit typical brightness, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and BT.709 colour coverage of 95 percent, with 10-bit colour depth. It is rated for 24/7 operation and a lifetime of at least 50,000 hours, which suits a screen that stays on through opening hours and beyond. The connections are arranged for signage networks:

Inputs: three HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input, each up to 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz
Daisy chain: one HDMI output at 3840 x 2160 and 30Hz, passing the feed from HDMI or DisplayPort to the next screen
Control: RS232C in and out, RJ45 LAN, IR and a USB 2.0 Type A port
Built-in: 16GB internal eMMC storage, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, plus 10W x 2 speakers and an audio output

Software for running a screen network

The display runs webOS 6.0 with local content scheduling, USB plug and play, gapless playback and a no-signal image, so unattended screens keep working. For multi-screen layouts, tile mode supports arrangements up to 15 by 15, and picture-by-picture mode can show up to four windows. Remote administration uses SNMP, Wake on LAN, status alerts and Crestron connectivity, and the panel works with SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control+, SuperSign WB, SuperSign Cloud, Mobile CMS and Connected Care.

Where it fits in Qatar

Three situations suit a 65-inch screen of this kind:

A private school in Al Wakrah fitting out corridors with timetables and event notices, where a central office can switch each screen over the local network.
A hotel lobby in West Bay or a serviced apartment building in The Pearl, showing wayfinding and welcome content in an air-conditioned reception area.
An outpatient waiting area in Doha, where the 24/7 rating and lifetime figure matter for a screen that runs through clinic hours.

Because the operating range tops out at 40 °C, these displays should sit in indoor, cooled spaces. Qatar summers regularly exceed 45 °C, so positions exposed to direct sunlight through glazing or poorly ventilated booths are unsuitable.

Planning the installation

Weight: the head weighs 21.6 kg and the packed unit 28.4 kg, so plan for two people to lift it and a wall or stand rated for the load.
Mounting: VESA 300 x 300 interface. Optional slim wall mount WB21LMA/B, standard wall mount LW480A/B and wall mount adapter AM-B330S are listed for this model.
Dimensions: 1458 x 833 x 57.7 mm without the IR sensor, with a 12.4 mm bezel on all sides.
Power and cooling: built-in power supply accepting 100-240 V at 50/60 Hz, with typical draw of 145 W and maximum of 200 W, equal to about 682 BTU/hr at peak for air-conditioning load planning.

A free site survey lets SmartRooms Qatar check wall loading, cable routes and room temperature before installation. Quotations are usually issued within one working day once the room plan is available, and we can work against a purchase order or a government tender. The LG 65UM5N-E is discontinued, so request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement and we will confirm the match against your mounting and connectivity needs.

Questions about 65UM5N-E

Is the LG 65UM5N-E still available to order?

No. LG has discontinued the 65UM5N-E, so this page serves organisations that already own it, buyers comparing it with newer models and anyone needing a replacement. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement, and availability is confirmed within the quotation.

What is this display designed for?

It is a standard signage display for menus, wayfinding, announcements and promotions in indoor public areas. Its 3840 x 2160 resolution and 24/7 operation rating suit screens that run through full opening hours. At 65 inches it fits corridors and reception areas better than large halls.

What resolution and brightness does it offer?

The IPS panel has a native 3840 x 2160 (UHD) resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio, with 500 nit typical brightness and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. It shows 10-bit colour with 1.07 billion colours, covers 95 percent of BT.709 and refreshes at 60Hz.

Can it be used in portrait orientation for menus or directories?

Yes, the source data lists both portrait and landscape operation. Portrait suits digital directories, menus and narrow corridors, while landscape suits wayfinding boards. For a video wall, tile mode supports arrangements up to 15 by 15, and the 12.4 mm bezel keeps seams narrow.

Which inputs and outputs does it have, and can screens be daisy chained?

It has three HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input, both supporting 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz, plus one HDMI output at 30Hz. The daisy chain passes a signal from an HDMI or DisplayPort input to the next screen. The unit also has a USB 2.0 Type A port, an audio output and an RS232C output.

How is it controlled and managed across a network?

The display has RJ45 LAN, RS232C and IR control, and supports Wake on LAN, SNMP, status alerts, Crestron connectivity and local network sync. Content can be managed with SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control+, SuperSign WB, SuperSign Cloud, Mobile CMS or Connected Care, depending on your setup.

Would it work in a hotel lobby in West Bay that gets direct sunlight?

Only in an indoor, air-conditioned position. The operating range is 0 to 40 °C with 10 to 80 percent humidity, while Qatar summers often pass 45 °C. Avoid positions facing sun-exposed glazing, and confirm the room conditions during the free site survey.

What power and cooling should we plan for in Qatar?

The built-in power supply accepts 100-240 V at 50/60 Hz, which matches Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains. Typical consumption is 145 W and maximum is 200 W. For cooling load, the unit produces about 495 BTU/hr typically and 682 BTU/hr at peak, and energy-saving mode reduces draw to about 101.5 W.

Can a school in Al Wakrah mount several units in its corridors?

Yes, once the walls have been checked for load. The head weighs 21.6 kg and uses a 300 x 300 VESA interface. Optional mounts include the slim wall mount WB21LMA/B, the standard wall mount LW480A/B and the wall mount adapter AM-B330S. A free site survey helps confirm fixing points before ordering.

Is it suitable for a clinic waiting area in Doha that runs all day?

The unit is rated for 24/7 operation with a lifetime of at least 50,000 hours, and it includes an auto brightness sensor that adjusts the picture to room light. It suits wayfinding and queue information. Choose a wall away from exposed glazing and check ventilation during the site survey, since the operating range tops out at 40 °C.

Can a government ministry in Msheireb order several units through an LPO or tender?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar supplies all eight municipalities, accepts purchase orders and government tenders including Monaqasat, and takes payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Quotations are usually issued within one working day. Because the model is discontinued, the quote should cover a current equivalent, and the manufacturer warranty applies to supplied products.
