Name: LG 65UP5Q-EQ 65-inch UHD Digital Signage Display
Brand: LG
SKU: lg-65up5q-eq
Availability: Discontinued

Overview

The LG 65UP5Q-EQ is a 65-inch UHD signage display with 3840x2160 resolution, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 32GB internal storage and webOS 8.0 for local scheduling and multi-screen control. LG has discontinued this model, so SmartRooms Qatar will quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement. It suits reception areas, corridors and meeting rooms in offices, schools and hotels across Doha and its surrounding areas that need reliable indoor digital signage.

What the 65UP5Q-EQ is and who it suits

The LG 65UP5Q-EQ is a 65-inch Ultra HD display built for public digital signage rather than desk use. It belongs to LG's UP5Q series of standard signage panels, which the manufacturer lists in sizes from 43 to 86 inches. Its 3840x2160 panel is fed by three HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort input, each rated at 60Hz, so one screen can show menus, timetables, wayfinding and promotions from several sources.

Connections, storage and on-screen software

Besides video, the panel offers an RJ45 LAN port, RS232C input and output on 4-pin phone-jack connectors, an IR input, one USB 3.0 Type A and one USB 2.0 Type A port, and an audio output. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth provide wireless options, and 32GB of internal eMMC storage keeps content on the unit. The webOS 8.0 platform handles scheduling and display settings:

Local content scheduling and group management
Picture-in-picture, and picture-by-picture with up to four split screens
Tile mode for video walls of up to 15 x 15 panels
SNMP, Crestron Connected and Wake on LAN for building control
HDMI-CEC and screen rotation

Units can also be managed centrally through the SuperSign suite, including SuperSign CMS and SuperSign Cloud, plus Connected Care.

Where it fits in Qatar

Three common situations show how this size is used. A government ministry reception in Msheireb can display queue numbers and service guides on a wall-mounted screen at eye level. A private school in Al Wakrah fitting out a corridor or staff room can run timetables and announcements from one office, with the on-screen menu available in Arabic for staff who work in both languages. A hotel lobby in West Bay or a serviced apartment building in Lusail can show guest information and local directions inside an air-conditioned space.

Retail and clinic environments suit it too. A clinic waiting area in Al Rayyan can rotate health messages and appointment information, while a shopping mall entrance in Lusail can combine several panels into one tiled display when the content is designed as a single image.

Planning for heat, dust and mounting

The rated operating range is 0 to 40°C with 10 to 80% humidity. Qatar summer temperatures regularly pass 45°C, so this panel belongs in an air-conditioned interior, not in an unconditioned outdoor space or beside a sunlit glass wall. The IP5X rating means the enclosure is dust protected, which helps in dusty conditions, but it does not make the screen suitable for outdoor use.

The head weighs 24.2 kg and 30.4 kg packed, and measures 1450.3 x 830.3 x 29.7 mm without the IR sensor. It uses a 300 x 300 VESA mounting pattern and a black bezel of 8.9 mm on the top, right and left sides and 12.9 mm at the bottom. Optional wall mounts include the WB21LMA/B slim wall mount and the OLW480A/B wall mount. A face-down tilt of up to 30 degrees is supported at 40°C. Because of its weight, a free site survey is worth booking to check wall construction and cable routes before installation.

The built-in power supply accepts 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains. The datasheet marks its power consumption figures as to be confirmed, so ask SmartRooms Qatar for confirmed values with your quotation before you size circuits.

Discontinued model: buying and replacement guidance

LG has discontinued the 65UP5Q-EQ. Organisations that already run this panel and need matching units for an expansion, and buyers comparing it with newer models, should request a quote before deciding. SmartRooms Qatar will quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement and confirm the match on size, inputs, mounting and software.

Orders can be placed by LPO, purchase order or through government tenders, including Monaqasat. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. We deliver to all eight municipalities of Qatar and offer professional installation. Lead times are confirmed with each quotation, which is usually issued within one working day.

Request a quote for the 65UP5Q-EQ or a current equivalent, and tell us the number of screens, the wall or stand arrangement, and the content system you plan to use.

Questions about 65UP5Q-EQ

What is the LG 65UP5Q-EQ used for?

It is a 65-inch Ultra HD display for public digital signage, such as menus, announcements, wayfinding and promotional loops in reception areas, corridors and meeting spaces. Its 3840x2160 resolution gives sharp text at close viewing distance, and its HDMI and DisplayPort inputs accept content from media players and PCs. Its 0 to 40°C operating range suits air-conditioned interiors, which cover most offices, schools and hotels in Doha.

Is the LG 65UP5Q-EQ still sold by LG?

No. LG has discontinued this model, so it may be hard to source as new. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement. Send us the size you need, the inputs you use and the number of screens, and we will confirm the closest match before quoting. If your organisation already runs this panel, we will check the content system and mounting first so that any addition matches.

Which video inputs and control ports does it have?

The panel has three HDMI inputs at 3840x2160 and 60Hz with HDCP 2.2/1.4, and one DisplayPort input at 3840x2160 and 60Hz with HDCP 2.2/1.3. Control and networking ports include RS232C in and out on 4-pin phone-jack connectors, an RJ45 LAN port, an IR input, a USB 3.0 Type A port and a USB 2.0 Type A port. An audio output is also provided.

Can it play content without a PC?

Yes. The unit runs webOS 8.0 and has 32GB of internal eMMC storage. Local content scheduling lets you set playlists directly on the panel, and the USB port supports plug and play for loading media from a drive. For larger estates, the panel works with SuperSign CMS and SuperSign Cloud, so central teams can manage content without visiting each site.

How do we manage several units across different sites?

Group Manager and Control Manager organise screens into groups, while SNMP, Wake on LAN and Crestron Connected support network and building monitoring. Software options include SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control+, SuperSign WB, SuperSign Cloud, Mobile CMS and Connected Care. A company with offices in Doha, Al Khor and Mesaieed can run each site from one dashboard, provided every site has a network connection.

Will it run on Qatar's power supply?

The built-in power supply accepts 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains. A power cord is included in the box. The datasheet marks power consumption figures as to be confirmed, so ask SmartRooms Qatar for confirmed typical and maximum values before planning circuits for several screens in a school or office.

Can it go in a hot lobby or an outdoor area?

Not in an unconditioned outdoor area. The rated operating range is 0 to 40°C with 10 to 80% humidity, while Qatar summer temperatures often pass 45°C. Install it in an air-conditioned interior, away from direct sun through glass. The IP5X rating shows protection against dust, which helps in dusty weather, but it does not make the panel suitable for exposed outdoor use.

How heavy is it and what wall mount does it need?

The head weighs 24.2 kg and 30.4 kg packed, with a 300 x 300 VESA mounting pattern. Optional mounts are the WB21LMA/B slim wall mount and the OLW480A/B wall mount. Because of the weight, we recommend a free site survey before installation to check the wall construction, such as drywall or block, and the cable routes in a clinic waiting room or office corridor.

Can it be tilted face-down for a counter or lobby desk?

Yes, within limits. The panel supports a face-down tilt of up to 30 degrees, rated at 40°C. This suits a reception counter or a mall entrance where screens sit below eye level. Confirm the mounting angle and the ambient temperature with the installer, and keep the area air-conditioned.

Does the on-screen menu support Arabic?

Yes. The on-screen display language list includes Arabic alongside English, French and many others. This helps ministries, banks and hospitals in Qatar that run bilingual operations set up the panel in the language their staff use. The language of the content shown is a separate decision, so the playlists you create should match your audience.

Can we order several units for a school or ministry under one LPO?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts LPOs, purchase orders and government tenders, including Monaqasat. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Quotations are usually issued within one working day, with lead times confirmed in the quotation. Orders can be delivered to all eight municipalities and professionally installed.

How do narrow bezels help if I build a video wall?

The bezel is 8.9 mm on the top, right and left sides and 12.9 mm at the bottom. Tile mode supports layouts of up to 15 x 15 panels. Thinner gaps between screens reduce their visual effect on the image, which matters in a mall atrium or event venue in Lusail. Matched units, the content layout and a site survey all affect the final result, so ask for a quote that covers them.
