Availability: Discontinued

Overview

The LG 98LS95A-5B is a discontinued 98-inch UHD signage display rated at 500 cd/m². It has 3,840 x 2,160 resolution, two HDMI inputs, DisplayPort and an embedded player that runs images and video without an external media player. Owners in Doha and buyers needing a large lobby screen can request a quote for a current or compatible replacement.

What the LG 98LS95A-5B is

The LG 98LS95A-5B belongs to the LS95 series of standard signage displays, a UHD model in the 98-inch class. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so this page is written for organisations that already operate one, for buyers comparing it with newer displays, and for anyone who needs a like-for-like replacement. Its panel measures 97.52 inches (2,476.95 mm) diagonally and is rated at 500 cd/m².

Picture, playback and failover

With 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, the panel carries four times the pixel count of a Full HD screen. Up-scaling and Super Resolution processing lift Full HD material toward near-UHD quality, which helps while older content has not yet been produced in 4K. The embedded SoC media player shows images and movie clips directly, so a simple playlist can run without an extra box. If every external input fails, auto signal switching displays content held in internal memory without dead spots.

Connectivity and control

Video inputs: two HDMI, one DisplayPort and one DVI-D
Outputs: DisplayPort out, S/PDIF audio out and left/right external speaker out
USB: one USB 3.0 port and two USB 2.0 ports
Control: RS-232C in and out, RJ45, and an IR/light sensor input

The model has no OPS slot, so an external media player is attached when needed. The MP500 and MP700 are listed as compatible. SuperSign-c is listed as compatible, while SuperSign-w lite is not.

Where it fits in Qatar

A 98-inch screen suits large lobbies and atriums where visitors stand some distance back. Examples include a reception hall in a government building in Msheireb, the entrance of a hotel in Lusail, or a mall concourse in The Pearl showing wayfinding and promotions. Universities in Education City can use one in wide corridors for campus information and event schedules. Banks in West Bay can run service messages in Arabic and English side by side.

What to plan before ordering

The head weighs 88.0 kg and measures 2,191.8 mm by 1,246.8 mm by 69.4 mm, so installation usually needs at least two people and a bracket rated for that load. The VESA pattern is 800 mm x 400 mm, and the bracket must match it. Check the wall or structure, the route for HDMI and power cables, and the viewing distance. The bezel is an even 14.9 mm, which matters when several units are tiled into a video wall. The source data gives no operating temperature range, so confirm the exact location, direct sunlight and dust exposure with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation. Free site surveys are available before a panel this size is fitted.

Because this model is discontinued, the quickest route is to request a quote for a current equivalent or a compatible replacement. Purchase orders and government tenders are accepted, and the team will confirm lead times in the quotation.

Questions about 98LS95A-5B

Is the LG 98LS95A-5B still available from SmartRooms Qatar?

The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so it should not be treated as a standard option. SmartRooms Qatar can quote for a current equivalent or a compatible replacement, and quotations usually arrive within one working day. Send your location, intended content and number of units so the team can compare options against the specifications on this page.

What is the LG 98LS95A-5B designed for?

It is a 98-inch standard signage display for showing information, directions, promotions or branded content to people passing by. Its UHD panel and 500 cd/m² rating suit reception halls, lobbies and corridors, such as a hotel entrance in Lusail or a bank lobby in West Bay. Confirm the exact environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation.

What resolution and brightness does it offer?

The 97.52-inch (2,476.95 mm) panel has 3,840 x 2,160 resolution and a brightness rating of 500 cd/m². Up-scaling and Super Resolution processing improve Full HD material toward near-UHD quality. On a university campus in Education City, older Full HD event recordings or slides can therefore look sharper on this screen.

Can it play content without a separate media player?

Yes. The embedded SoC media player can play images and movie clips directly, so a simple playlist can run without an extra box. The model also accepts an external media player, and the MP500 and MP700 are listed as compatible. It has no OPS slot, so OPS modules cannot be fitted.

Which software works with it?

The source data lists SuperSign-c as compatible and SuperSign-w lite as not compatible. Before ordering, tell the SmartRooms Qatar team which content management system your organisation already uses, so the quotation can address compatibility with your network and content workflow.

What inputs and outputs does it have?

Inputs are two HDMI, one DisplayPort, one DVI-D, one RS-232C in, one RJ45 control port, one IR/light sensor input, one USB 3.0 port and two USB 2.0 ports. Outputs are DisplayPort out, S/PDIF audio out, left/right external speaker out and RS-232C out. The source data does not list a pixel sensor.

How can it be controlled from a central system?

RS-232C in and out and an RJ45 control port allow the display to be managed over wired connections, and RS-232C out passes serial control on to another unit. An IR remote with two batteries and a light sensor receiver are included, so local control is possible without a network connection.

What happens if the video source fails?

Auto signal switching displays content stored in the internal memory when none of the external inputs is working, and the monitor changes source automatically to avoid dead spots. This suits a hotel check-in area or ticket hall where a blank screen would be noticed by visitors straight away.

How much does it weigh and what wall space does it need?

The head weighs 88.0 kg and measures 2,191.8 mm wide, 1,246.8 mm high and 69.4 mm deep. The VESA pattern is 800 mm x 400 mm. Plan a team lift, a bracket rated for this load and a wall check before ordering. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys to confirm the fixing points.

Is it suitable for a hot or dusty location, such as near a window or outdoor entrance?

The source data gives no operating temperature range and no outdoor rating, so do not assume the model suits outdoor or unconditioned spaces. Summer temperatures above 45°C and dust storms are real risks in Qatar. Tell the SmartRooms Qatar team the exact location so it can advise before installation.

We are a school in Al Wakrah wanting several screens for corridors. Can we order with an LPO?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including Monaqasat, with payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Send the number of units, the mounting locations and the wall widths. Because the model is discontinued, the quotation would cover a current or compatible replacement for each corridor.

What comes in the box?

The package includes a remote controller with two batteries, a power cord, an IR/light sensor receiver, a CD with the owner's manual and SuperSign program, an HDMI 2.0 cable, a DP cable, a phone jack to BNC cable, an RS-232C cable, a WIFI dongle and eye-bolts. The SP-2200 external speaker is an optional extra.
