Overview
The NEC 86-inch InfinityBoard 2.1 is a discontinued all-in-one collaboration display, so the manufacturer no longer supplies it. It combines a 3840 x 2160 InGlass touch panel supporting up to 20 touches, an integrated Huddly IQ camera, side speakers, and an OPS slot-in PC running Windows 10 Professional. Organisations already running it, or comparing against newer boards, can request a quote for a current equivalent from SmartRooms Qatar.
What the NEC 86-inch InfinityBoard 2.1 is
The InfinityBoard 2.1 is an all-in-one collaboration display built around an 86-inch IPS panel, designed for meeting rooms where one large surface handles brainstorming, document review and video calls. NEC has discontinued this model, so this page is written for owners, for buyers comparing it with other large boards, and for anyone who needs a replacement.
Touch and display performance
The panel offers 3840 x 2160 resolution and a typical contrast ratio of 1200:1, rated at 500 cd/m² with the shipment setting at 350 cd/m². The InGlass touch layer supports up to 20 simultaneous touches, accepts fingers, gloves and styluses of 2 mm or more, and works with Windows Ink. Its anti-glare toughened glass transmits 88% of light. The specification lists palm rejection as not supported, so confirm this before comparing it with other boards.
Camera, speakers and slot-in PC
The integrated Huddly IQ camera records 1080p at 30 fps across a 150-degree diagonal view and offers 3x lossless digital zoom. It has no microphone, so audio comes from conference speakers rated at 40 W input. The OPS slot holds a slot-in PC with an Intel i7-7820EQ processor, 8 GB of DDR4 memory and Windows 10 Professional. The panel provides three HDMI and two DisplayPort inputs, four USB 3.0 hub ports, and RS232 and LAN control.
Where this 86-inch board fits in Qatar
An 86-inch screen suits boardrooms and lecture halls rather than small huddle spaces. Typical settings include:
- Boardrooms in West Bay or Msheireb, where a review board displays documents and joins a video call in the same session.
- Seminar rooms in Education City, where students present on the panel while remote partners join through the camera.
- Engineering meeting rooms in Mesaieed or Ras Laffan, where drawings are marked up while colleagues abroad join the call.
Installation, environment and warranty
Operating temperature is rated 0 to +35°C with 20 to 80% humidity. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so install the board in an air-conditioned room away from lobby sun and window-facing walls. The board weighs 91.7 kg and measures 2,192 x 1,142 x 86 mm without its stand, so plan a structurally sound wall, extra hands for lifting and a free site survey. It supports 400 x 400 and 600 x 400 FDMI patterns with M8 holes. The manufacturer's warranty covers three years including the backlight, with optional fourth and fifth year extensions.
Because this model is discontinued, SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement, usually within one working day. Purchase orders and government tenders are accepted. Request a quote with your room size, mounting wall and video platform, and we will recommend the closest option.

Questions about 86-inch InfinityBoard 2.1
Is the NEC 86-inch InfinityBoard 2.1 still sold by NEC?
No. NEC has discontinued this model, so it is no longer part of the manufacturer's current range. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement that matches your room size, touch needs and video conferencing platform. Tell us which features your team relies on most, and we will recommend options you can compare side by side with the original specification.
What screen size and resolution does the InfinityBoard 2.1 offer?
It has an 86-inch IPS panel with a native resolution of 3840 x 2160, which is 4K UHD. The active screen area measures 1,895 x 1,065.9 mm, and the panel accepts 1920 x 1080, 1920 x 2160 and 4096 x 2160 inputs. That size suits boardrooms and lecture halls where people sit several metres from the display and a single screen must show spreadsheets, drawings or a full video call.
How many touch points does the InGlass touch layer support?
The touch layer supports real multi-touch of up to 20 touches with a response time of 15 ms or less. It works with fingers, gloves and styluses of 2 mm or more, and it supports Windows Ink. The specification lists palm rejection as not supported, so ask for written confirmation of that behaviour if your team will write on the screen with their hands resting on it.
Does the board include a camera and speakers for video calls?
Yes. An integrated Huddly IQ camera records 1080p at 30 fps across a 150-degree diagonal view and offers 3x lossless digital zoom. The camera has no microphone, so sound comes from the conference speakers, rated at 40 W input. In a larger room, check audio coverage across every seat during planning before you order the unit.
What is the slot-in PC and what does it run?
The OPS slot holds a slot-in PC with an Intel i7-7820EQ processor, 8 GB of DDR4 memory, Windows 10 Professional and a TPM security chip. Storage is provided by M.2 SATA SSD slots, with a listed capacity of 128 GB. The OPS slot is rated at 4.7 A and 75 W. The manufacturer says the platform is not tied to a particular software or video conferencing app, so your own applications can run on the PC.
Can it connect to laptops and conferencing platforms used in Qatar?
It provides three HDMI and two DisplayPort inputs, a USB Type-B upstream port and four USB 3.0 ports on the hub for cameras, storage or other room peripherals. Mosaic Connect software is included free of charge. Because the platform is open, teams should confirm their preferred conferencing app and laptop setup with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.
Is it a good fit for a seminar room at Education City?
Yes, it suits a seminar room where students present slides or documents on a large 4K screen while partners abroad join through the built-in camera. The 86-inch size keeps detail legible for a group, and two passive pens are supplied for annotation. Confirm the room's lighting and the distance to the back row before ordering, since the anti-glare glass helps but does not replace good placement.
How should we plan wall mounting for a West Bay office?
The board weighs 91.7 kg without its stand and measures 2,192 x 1,142 x 86 mm, so the wall must be checked for load before any drilling. It supports 400 x 400 and 600 x 400 FDMI patterns with M8 holes. Book a free site survey so our team can confirm the wall, cable routes and sight lines, and plan for at least two installers when lifting.
Can it be installed in a lobby or a room that gets direct sun?
Not without a controlled environment. The operating temperature range is 0 to +35°C with 20 to 80% humidity, while summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C. Choose an air-conditioned room away from windows that catch direct sun. The front is rated IP5x and the back IP2x, so keep the unit indoors and away from open areas exposed to dust storms.
How much power does it draw, and what should facilities teams plan for?
Power consumption is listed at 242 W in the shipping setting, under 0.5 W in power-saving mode, and under 2 W in networked standby. It supports VESA DPMS power management. When fitting several rooms in a school or university, have a qualified electrician confirm circuits and socket positions, and plan cable routes for the camera, control and network connections.
What warranty applies to the InfinityBoard 2.1?
The manufacturer's warranty covers three years including the backlight, with optional fourth and fifth year extensions listed in the source data. Products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Before you buy, ask for the warranty terms that apply to the specific unit in your quotation, so you know exactly what applies to your installation.
How does a school or government body order several units?
Purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including Monaqasat, are accepted. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Quotations are usually issued within one working day. If you are ordering for several classrooms or boardrooms, list each room with its size and mounting wall, so the quotation covers installation and each unit's requirements accurately.
