86-inch InfinityBoard 2.2 QL

What the 86-inch InfinityBoard 2.2 QL is

The NEC 86-inch InfinityBoard 2.2 QL puts a large touch display, a camera, conference speakers and a computer into one enclosure. A meeting room therefore needs one unit instead of a separate screen, webcam, speaker set and PC. The display is an IPS panel with a native 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 and an active screen area of 1,895 x 1,065.9 mm. NEC has discontinued this model. This page is written for organisations that already own one, for buyers comparing it with newer collaboration displays, and for anyone who needs a replacement.

Touch, writing and picture quality

The InGlass touch layer recognises up to 20 simultaneous touches with a response time of 15 ms or less and an accuracy below 1 mm. Touch works with a finger, a gloved hand or a stylus of at least 2 mm. Windows Ink and palm rejection are included, so a presenter can rest a hand on the glass while writing. Native multi-touch is listed for Windows 7 to 11, Linux and Android. The panel has a typical contrast ratio of 1,200:1, viewing angles of 178 degrees and brightness of 500 cd/m², set to 350 cd/m² at shipment. The 3 mm toughened glass has an anti-glare coating and passes 88 percent of light.

Built-in computer, camera and audio

The OPS slot-in PC carries an Intel i7-7820EQ processor, 16 GB of DDR4 memory, an M.2 SATA SSD of up to 256 GB, Windows 10 Professional and a TPM security chip. Wi-Fi is 802.11ac dual band with Bluetooth 4.2. Because it uses the open pluggable OPS standard, the computer is a module that can be exchanged rather than a fixed part of the panel, though any replacement module must match the standard. The Huddly IQ camera delivers 1080p at 30 fps with a 150-degree diagonal viewing angle and 3x lossless digital zoom, and it installs without drivers. It has no microphone. The side-mounted conference speakers have a maximum input of 40 W.

Where it fits in Qatar

Three scenarios show the kind of room this model suits:

• A boardroom in West Bay: a leadership team in Doha joins colleagues abroad from one touch point, with the built-in camera framing the room.
• A seminar room in Education City: lecturers and visiting researchers switch between laptops, the built-in computer and the camera for hybrid sessions.
• A training centre in Lusail: a medium-sized room where trainees write on the screen and play USB or microSD media without a separate player.

Planning the installation and environment

Without its stand the unit weighs 91.7 kg and measures 2,192 x 1,142 x 86 mm, so confirm that the wall or trolley can carry it. The rear has four VESA holes at 400 x 400 mm and 600 x 400 mm (FDMI) plus M8 fixings. NEC lists a wall mount (PDW T XL-2) and two trolleys (PD02MHA and PD03MHA) as options. The packaging comes as two boxes weighing 98 kg and 10.1 kg, so plan the access route and lifting equipment before delivery.

The operating temperature is 0 to 35 °C with 20 to 80 percent humidity, and the front is rated IP5x. Qatar summer temperatures outdoors pass 45 °C, so the unit belongs in an air-conditioned indoor room away from direct sunlight and dust. Power consumption is listed at 242 W in its shipping configuration, with standby below 0.5 W. The 3-year manufacturer warranty includes the backlight, and optional fourth and fifth year extensions are available from NEC.
