What the NEC E705 SST is

The E705 SST is a 70-inch (178 cm) landscape display built around a touch overlay. Its active screen measures 1,539 x 866 mm. The UV² A panel uses edge LED backlighting, with a 4000:1 typical contrast ratio and 8 ms grey-to-grey response. Brightness is 340 cd/m² typical and rises to 400 cd/m² maximum, which suits rooms with controlled lighting.

Touch performance and what it means in use

The ShadowSense touch layer accepts finger, gloved and stylus input, with stylus tips of 4 mm or wider. It tracks up to 10 touches at once, so several people can write, drag and annotate together, which shortens group sessions in a classroom or project meeting. Accuracy is below 2 mm, and the touch area measures 1,572.59 x 900.13 mm. Touch connects over USB 2.0 (full speed) HID. The source lists native multi-touch on Windows 7 to 11, Linux and Android, with default mouse behaviour on Windows XP, Vista and Mac OS.

The front is 5 mm premium toughened glass with an anti-glare coating and 92% (plus or minus 2%) light transmission, which helps against glare. The touch layer is rated for ambient light up to full sunlight (approximately 100,000 lux), and its filtering is designed to prevent ghost touches under strong light.

Connections, control and sound

• Video inputs: one DisplayPort, two HDMI, one DVI-D and one 15-pin D-sub, with HDCP on the digital inputs.
• Control: 100Mbit LAN with SNMP, RS-232C input, and an ambient light sensor plus three temperature sensors with programmable actions.

Where it fits in Qatar

A private school in Al Wakrah refitting its classrooms may want a panel that teachers can write on without a separate projector and whiteboard. At 70 inches, the E705 SST is sized for a smaller classroom or seminar room.

In a corporate office in West Bay or Lusail, a meeting room used for client sessions can take a laptop over HDMI, or a Slot-in PC through the OPS slot, so the room runs without a separate computer on the table. A training centre in Education City or Msheireb could use it for group training sessions.

Summer needs care. The operating range is 0 to +35 °C with 20 to 80% humidity, so this is a panel for air-conditioned indoor rooms.
