The mid-sized screen suits classrooms and meeting rooms across Doha. Owners and buyers comparing options can request a quote for a current equivalent.

The ActivPanel Cobalt 75-inch at a glance

The Promethean AP7-A75 is a 75-inch 4K model from the ActivPanel Elements series, and the manufacturer has discontinued it. This page is written for organisations that already own one, buyers comparing it with newer panels, and anyone looking for a replacement. Its display area of 1652 x 930 mm sits between the 65-inch and 86-inch sizes in the same series, which makes it a practical choice for mid-sized rooms.

Display and touch facts that matter in daily use

The panel is a TFT LCD with direct LED backlighting, a 16:9 aspect ratio and 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160) at 60 Hz. Brightness is rated at 350 cd/m2 with a 4000:1 contrast ratio, and an ambient light sensor adjusts to the room. The anti-glare, heat-tempered glass has a 9H pencil hardness rating, and the LED backlight is rated for 50,000 hours.

Touch uses Vellum writing technology with 20 continuous touch points, 1 mm touch accuracy and a 100 Hz scan rate. Two battery-less pens with a 3 mm tip are included, along with palm detection and pen-and-touch differentiation. An integrated full-length pen tray holds the pens at the front of the panel.

Built-in Android, ports and software

The panel runs Android 8 (Oreo) on a quad-core processor with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. An OPS slot accepts a plug-in computer module. For connected sources there are two rear HDMI 2.0 inputs, one front HDMI 2.0 input, a DisplayPort 1.2 input, VGA and CVBS inputs, an HDMI output, USB-A and USB touch ports at front and rear, RS-232 control and a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port. A Wi-Fi module (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2x2) is included, and ActivInspire Professional is listed in the software licence.

Where it fits in Qatar

A private school in Al Wakrah fitting out a mid-sized classroom will find 75 inches a practical size for a room where students sit several metres from the screen. A corporate meeting room in West Bay that runs video calls with colleagues abroad can use the HDMI inputs and OPS slot to show a laptop or a dedicated PC alongside the call. An office in Msheireb where teams share documents in English and Arabic can use the front HDMI input for a visitor laptop without moving rear cabling.

Qatar summers can push outdoor temperatures above 45°C, so this panel must be installed in an air-conditioned room. Its operating range is 0°C to 40°C at 20% to 80% non-condensing humidity, and storage is rated from -15°C to 55°C. Check rooms with window-facing walls or weak cooling during the site survey.

Questions about AP7-A75

What is the Promethean AP7-A75 and who is it for?

The AP7-A75 is a 75-inch 4K interactive display from the ActivPanel Elements series, with Vellum touch and a built-in Android 8 system. It suits schools, universities and offices that need a mid-sized screen for teaching or presenting. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so buyers should request a quote for a current equivalent that matches their room.

Is the AP7-A75 still sold by Promethean?

No. The manufacturer has discontinued the AP7-A75 and it is end of sale. If you need a comparable 75-inch 4K touch display for a classroom, meeting room or lecture space, SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement. If you already own this model, send us its details so we can compare it with the options available today.

How does the 75-inch model differ from the AP7-A65 and AP7-A86?

The AP7-A75 has a 1652 x 930 mm display area, between the 65-inch model at 1429 x 804 mm and the 86-inch model at 1895 x 1066 mm. Its brightness is 350 cd/m2, the same as the 65-inch model, while the 86-inch is rated at 400 cd/m2. Its maximum power draw is 380 W. Choose by room size and viewing distance first, then compare features.

Which rooms suit a 75-inch panel in Qatar?

A 75-inch panel suits a mid-sized classroom, a training room or a meeting room where people sit several metres from the screen. A private school in Al Wakrah fitting out a new classroom, or an office in West Bay running video calls with teams abroad, would both use it for presenting and annotation. Check the room layout with a site survey before ordering.

Does it work with Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS laptops?

The manufacturer lists compatibility with Windows 8 to 10, OS X 10.8 to 10.11, macOS Sierra 10.12.1 or later, Linux Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and Chrome OS. The built-in Android 8 system runs its own apps, while a laptop connects through the HDMI or DisplayPort inputs. Confirm your exact operating system version with the SmartRooms Qatar team, especially for macOS releases newer than those listed.

What inputs and ports does it have?

The rear panel has two HDMI 2.0 inputs, and the front adds one HDMI 2.0 input. A DisplayPort 1.2 input, VGA input with audio, a CVBS input and an HDMI output are also provided. There are two rear USB-A 2.0 ports, one front USB-A 2.0 port, USB touch ports at front and rear, RS-232 and a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port. One OPS slot accepts a plug-in computer module.

Can I add a computer to the panel?

Yes. The panel has one OPS slot for a plug-in computer module, which lets teachers or staff run their own software on the display. The OPS module is not listed in the box contents, so ask us whether one is included in your quotation. Wake-on-LAN and remote over-the-air updates are also supported, which helps IT teams manage several panels.

Will it run on Qatar's 240 V mains supply?

The panel is rated for 100V to 240V AC input, which covers Qatar's 240 V supply. Its maximum draw is 380 W and standby consumption is 0.5 W or less. It comes with a 3 m regional power cable. Our team will confirm the plug type of that cable for your site before you order, so the installer knows whether an adapter is needed.

Can it be used in summer without air conditioning?

No. The operating range is 0°C to 40°C with 20% to 80% non-condensing humidity, and summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C. The panel must be installed in a climate-controlled room. During your site survey, check window-facing walls and spaces with poor airflow, and keep the panel out of direct sunlight.

How heavy is it and what wall mount does it need?

The panel weighs 64 kg net and 88.7 kg packed, and it uses a VESA 600 x 400 mm mounting pattern. The wall mount plate measures 1010 x 720 x 52 mm. Because of its weight, a qualified installer should fix it to a wall or structure able to carry the load. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey before installation.

Are the pens and touch features suitable for teaching?

Two battery-less pens with a 3 mm tip are included. The panel supports pen and touch differentiation, palm detection and 20 continuous touch points, with touch accuracy rated at 1 mm and a 100 Hz scan rate. The integrated full-length pen tray keeps the pens at the front of the panel, so they are easy to find during lessons.

We are buying several units for a government office or school. How does ordering work?

Send your LPO or tender reference together with the list of rooms. SmartRooms Qatar supplies the panels, delivers to all eight municipalities of Qatar, arranges professional installation and usually issues a quotation within one working day. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. The units are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and its terms are confirmed in the quotation.
