Overview

The Yealink VC200-E is a discontinued smart video conferencing endpoint for small and huddle rooms. Its 4K camera offers a 103° horizontal view, and six beamforming microphone arrays pick up voices up to 5 metres away. Yealink ended sales on 31 July 2024. Qatar organisations already running it, or needing a replacement for a similar room, should request a quote for a current equivalent.

What the VC200-E is built to do

The Yealink VC200-E is a smart video conferencing endpoint for small rooms and huddle spaces, where a few people gather around one table. The codec, camera, microphone array and mounting bracket are combined in one unit that sits on top of a display, so a room that already has a screen needs only a short list of cables to start calling. Yealink built it on Android 7.1 with a TV-style interface where the main functions are reached with a single touch.

Calls run over H.323 or SIP, and the codec handles H.265/HEVC and H.264 SVC. The datasheet gives 512 kbps as the minimum bandwidth for 1080p video calls with H.265/HEVC, which matters for offices in Qatar that share bandwidth between many departments.

Camera, microphones and connectivity

  • Camera: Ultra HD 4K camera with 4x digital zoom and e-PTZ, outputting 1920 x 1080 video at 30 frames per second.
  • Field of view: 103° horizontal, enough to frame participants along a short table without moving the lens.
  • Microphones: six beamforming arrays for directed pickup, with Yealink Noise Proof technology to filter unrelated sound, rated for pickup up to 5 metres.
  • Packet loss: anti-packet-loss technology that the datasheet says resists up to 30% video and audio loss.
  • Ports: 10/100M Ethernet, PoE (IEEE 802.3af), one HDMI output with CEC, two USB 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm line-out and a Yealink extension port for a CP960 phone or VCH50/VCH51 hub.
  • Wireless: built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and Bluetooth, with one-click content sharing through the optional WPP20 pod.
  • Management: browser configuration, auto-provisioning, firmware upgrades and an RS232/HTTP API for control systems.

Where it fits in Qatar

A government authority with an office in West Bay can use the VC200-E in a board room for six to eight people, linking to colleagues in other cities or abroad. Ethernet with PoE keeps the installation tidy when the room is refitted during an office move.

In Education City, a university research group might place the unit in a seminar room to join remote lecturers and partner laboratories. The 103° lens keeps a short row of participants in frame, and the beamforming arrays are designed to direct pickup toward the people speaking.

An industrial company with a site office in Mesaieed or the Industrial Area could connect its site managers with head office in Doha. Because the unit supports both Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet, the team can choose whichever connection suits the room.

What to plan before installation

Start with the display. The codec is designed to fit screens from 6 mm to 50 mm thick, so measure the rear depth and bezel before ordering. The setup needs only two cables, a network cable and an HDMI cable, which makes a neat installation possible when the screen is wall-mounted.

Heat is the next check. The unit operates between 0 and 40 °C at 10 to 95% humidity. Summer temperatures outside in Qatar can exceed 45 °C, so keep the codec in an air-conditioned room and away from direct sunlight through windows. The PoE adapter accepts 100 to 240 V AC input, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz supply, and the codec draws up to 8 W at maximum. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to check the room, the display and the cable route before mounting.

Buying a discontinued model

Yealink discontinued the VC200-E with an end-of-sale date of 31 July 2024, and it no longer accepts new orders for this model. Yealink also states that it will not develop new features after end-of-life, while continuing support under its end-of-life policy. Hardware spares depend on local distributors and inventory availability.

If your organisation already runs a VC200-E, plan support and replacement now rather than waiting for an unexpected failure. If you need a new room system, request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar for a current equivalent or compatible replacement. Government buyers can send an LPO or tender reference with the request, and quotations usually arrive within one working day. Send the room size, display details and seat count, and our team will confirm what fits your room.

Questions about VC200-E

What is the Yealink VC200-E designed for, and who does it suit?
The Yealink VC200-E is a smart video conferencing endpoint for small rooms and huddle spaces. It combines a 4K camera, six microphone arrays, a codec and a mounting bracket in one unit that sits on top of a display. It suits teams that hold regular video calls from a small meeting room without needing a full conference system, especially organisations that want a simple setup with few cables.
Has Yealink discontinued the VC200-E?
Yes. Yealink set an end-of-sale date of 31 July 2024, and it no longer accepts new orders for this model. Yealink will not add new features after end-of-life, but it continues to offer support under its end-of-life policy. Organisations in Qatar that already own a unit, or need a replacement, can request a quote for a current equivalent from SmartRooms Qatar.
Can my organisation still buy a new VC200-E in Qatar?
No, because Yealink no longer accepts new orders for this model. SmartRooms Qatar can instead prepare a quotation for a current Yealink room system suited to small and huddle rooms. Government buyers can attach a purchase order (LPO) or tender reference to the request, and quotations are usually issued within one working day.
What camera does the VC200-E use, and what does it capture?
It uses an Ultra HD 4K camera with 4x digital zoom and e-PTZ, and a 103° horizontal field of view. That angle frames participants seated along a short table without moving the lens. The camera outputs 1920 x 1080 video at 30 frames per second, and 1080p calls are supported with the H.265/HEVC codec.
Will the microphones work in a six-to-eight seat board room in Doha?
Yes, for a room where speakers sit within the rated distance. The unit has six beamforming microphone arrays for directed voice pickup, and Yealink Noise Proof technology filters sound unrelated to the meeting. The datasheet rates pickup distance at 5 metres. A larger room, or one with speakers far from the codec, may need the optional wireless microphone.
What display thickness does the VC200-E fit?
The codec is designed to fit TVs and displays from 6 mm to 50 mm thick, and it mounts on top of the screen. Measure the rear depth of your display and the space above its bezel before ordering. SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey, which is useful when a wall-mounted screen is part of a refit in a building in Msheireb or Lusail.
Which cables and ports does the setup need?
Setup needs two cables: a network cable to the 10/100M Ethernet port and an HDMI cable to the display. The codec supports Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af). Other ports include two USB 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm line-out, a security lock slot and a Yealink extension port for a CP960 phone or a VCH50/VCH51 hub.
Will the VC200-E cope with the heat in a Qatar meeting room?
The operating temperature range is 0 to 40 °C, with humidity from 10 to 95%. Outdoor summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45 °C, so the unit should sit in an air-conditioned room, away from direct sunlight and window glass. During the site survey, check the cooling and ventilation at the planned mounting position.
Is the power supply suitable for Qatar's 240 V mains?
The PoE adapter accepts AC input from 100 to 240 V, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz supply. The codec's power draw is listed as below 6.5 W idle, 7 W normal and 8 W at maximum. Qatar uses BS 1363 (Type G) sockets, but the source data does not state the adapter's plug type, so confirm it with SmartRooms Qatar before ordering.
Can a university training room in Education City share content wirelessly?
Yes. The VC200-E has built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and Bluetooth, and it can join a Wi-Fi network or serve as a Wi-Fi hotspot. With the optional WPP20 wireless presentation pod, participants can share content with one click, without cables. Yealink advises using either the Ethernet port or Wi-Fi, not both at once.
Which calling protocols and video standards does it support?
It supports H.323 and SIP for calls, and the H.264, H.264 SVC and H.265/HEVC video codecs. Dual-stream content uses H.239 with H.323 or BFCP with SIP. The unit can be configured through a browser or auto-provisioning, which helps IT teams in government or education set up several units consistently.
How does it handle a weekly call between a Doha team in The Pearl and an overseas head office?
It supports 1080P30 participant video alongside content sharing, a picture-in-picture layout, group dial and YMS meeting control for inviting, muting and locking calls. The datasheet gives 512 kbps as the minimum bandwidth for 1080p calls with H.265/HEVC. Before buying, confirm that the overseas system uses H.323 or SIP, the protocols this model supports.
