What the DSCON3000-7U does for a video wall

The Dahua DSCON3000-7U is a 7U, 19-inch multi-screen controller built to sit at the centre of a video wall. It accepts analog and digital sources, routes them through a built-in switch matrix and sends them to the display wall, so operators can change what appears on each screen without rewiring. The chassis holds 22 pluggable card slots, two for main control boards and twenty for video functions, so a site can build the input and output mix it needs.

The controller runs an Intel X86 Baytrail processor under embedded Linux, with a PCI-E bus for high internal data throughput. Its passive rear panel keeps the signal path simple and stable during continuous operation.

Inputs, outputs and decoding

• Inputs: HDMI, DVI-I, 3G-SDI, CVBS and network video from IP cameras and NVRs, including a 2-channel HDMI 1.4 card that handles 4K sources.
• Outputs: 8-channel HDMI 1.3, 4-channel 3G-SDI and 8-channel HD-SDI cards, each able to split a feed into up to 32 layers.
• Decoding: four HDMI 1.4 decoding outputs with H.265 support. Fully configured, the unit decodes up to 320 channels at 1080P or 1280 channels at D1.

Video wall control and network management

The controller can splice a wall of up to 160 LCD display units and supports splicing, zoom, merge, roam and overlay functions. Operators can drive it from a PC client, a local GUI, a network keyboard or an iPad. Two RJ-45 ports at 10/100/1000M, four RS232 ports and one RS485 port give facilities teams several ways to connect it to consoles and control systems. Remote cast lets an operator push an analog or digital source onto the wall from another location, while remote reboot, upgrade and default-setting functions help manage the unit without a site visit.

The power input is listed as 100 to 120 V AC and 200 to 240 V AC, with redundant power available as an option. Dahua has discontinued the DSCON3000-7U.
