Overview

The LG 86UH5C is an 86-inch UHD signage display rated at 500 cd/m² with 3,840 x 2,160 resolution. It offers HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-D and USB 3.0 inputs, RS232C and RJ45 control, and OPS compatibility for media players. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so organisations in Qatar that already run one or need a comparable screen should request a quote for a current equivalent or compatible replacement.

What the LG 86UH5C delivers

The LG 86UH5C is an 86-inch standard signage display from the UH5C series, built around a 3,840 x 2,160 UHD panel with a 500 cd/m² brightness rating. It is intended for menus, wayfinding maps, news feeds and promotional loops in indoor public areas. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so this page is written for organisations that already run one, buyers comparing it with newer options, and anyone who needs a replacement of similar size and specification.

Connectivity, control and media playback

The panel accepts HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-D, audio, USB 3.0 and SD card inputs, and provides a DisplayPort output and an audio output. Control options include RS232C, RJ45 and an IR receiver, with a pixel sensor available as an optional accessory. The unit is OPS Type compatible and can take an external media player, with the MP500 and MP700 named in the source data. SuperSign-w lite and SuperSign-c are listed as compatible software.

Panel: 86-inch, 3,840 x 2,160 UHD, 500 cd/m²
Inputs: HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-D, audio, USB 3.0, SD card
Control: RS232C, RJ45, IR receiver, pixel sensor (optional)
Playback: OPS Type compatible; external media player attachable

Where it fits in Qatar

Three realistic settings suit a screen of this size. A hotel lobby in the West Bay area can show bilingual Arabic and English welcome content at the point where guests arrive. A university building in Education City can place wayfinding and event schedules along long corridors. A government service hall in Doha or a bank branch in Msheireb can display service information in a waiting area. Each location should be an air-conditioned indoor space, because the panel is rated for operating temperatures from 0°C to 40°C and humidity from 10% to 80%. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so keep the screen away from windows and entrances that open to outside air.

Planning the installation

The head weighs 49 kg and measures 1,926.2 x 1,097.2 x 60.6 mm without logo or handle, so the wall bracket and fixings must be rated for that load. Our team offers a free site survey before wall mounting, which checks wall construction, viewing distance and cable routes. The power supply is 100-240V~ at 50/60Hz with built-in power, a range that includes Qatar's 240 V mains. Typical consumption is 275 W, falling to 193 W with smart energy saving. The bezel measures 14.7 mm.

The model carries UL, cUL, CB, TUV and KC safety marks, and FCC Class A, CE and KCC EMC marks. No ErP or Energy Star rating is listed for this model. The basic kit includes a remote controller with two batteries, a power cord, a 2.6 m DisplayPort cable, a quick setup guide, a phone-to-RS232C gender adapter and a memory cover. The pixel sensor (KT-SP0), OPS kit (KT-OPSA), HDBaseT (EB-B100) and media players are optional.

Questions about 86UH5C

Is the LG 86UH5C still sold by SmartRooms Qatar?

The manufacturer has discontinued the LG 86UH5C, so every product is supplied by quotation and availability is confirmed when we respond. If you need an 86-inch UHD signage display, send us your requirements. We will quote this model if it can be supplied, or a current equivalent or compatible replacement. Quotations are usually returned within one working day.

What is the LG 86UH5C designed for?

It is a standard signage display for public indoor areas, showing menus, wayfinding, news and promotional content. The 3,840 x 2,160 UHD panel and 500 cd/m² brightness rating suit lobbies, corridors and reception areas where text must be readable from a distance. It works well in a hotel lobby in West Bay or a government service hall in Doha.

Can I connect a media player to the 86UH5C?

Yes. The panel is OPS Type compatible, and the source data lists the MP500 and MP700 as external media players that can be attached. An OPS kit (KT-OPSA) and a media player are optional accessories, so confirm the combination you need when requesting a quote. This lets a hotel or school keep playback hardware separate from the display itself.

Which inputs and outputs does it provide?

Inputs are HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-D, audio, USB 3.0 and an SD card slot. Outputs are a DisplayPort and an audio output. A 2.6 m DisplayPort cable is included in the basic kit. In a lecture room at Education City, the HDMI and DisplayPort inputs cover most laptops, while the SD card input provides a separate source for content files.

How can the display be controlled?

The listed control options are RS232C, RJ45 and an IR receiver, with a pixel sensor (KT-SP0) available as an optional accessory. The basic kit includes a remote controller with two batteries and a phone-to-RS232C gender adapter. Facilities teams can use the RS232C or RJ45 port to connect the screen to a wider control system, while the IR receiver works with the supplied remote.

Can it be installed in an outdoor or non-air-conditioned area in Qatar?

No. The rated operating temperature is 0°C to 40°C, and operating humidity is 10% to 80%. Summer temperatures in Qatar can exceed 45°C, so the display should be installed in an air-conditioned indoor space, away from windows and entrances that open to outside air. If you are unsure about a location, our team can help confirm the environment during the free site survey.

Is the power supply suitable for Qatar's mains?

The source lists a 100-240V~ supply at 50/60Hz with built-in power, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains. Typical power consumption is 275 W, and smart energy saving mode reduces it to 193 W. A power cord is included in the basic kit. The source does not state the plug type, so we will confirm it is suitable for BS 1363 (Type G) sockets when we quote.

How much wall space and structural support does it need?

The monitor measures 1,926.2 x 1,097.2 x 60.6 mm without logo or handle, and the head weighs 49 kg. The bezel is 14.7 mm wide. Wall mounting needs a bracket and fixings rated for that weight. We recommend a free site survey beforehand to check wall construction, viewing distance and cable routes in a boardroom or lobby.

Which software is compatible with the 86UH5C?

The source data lists SuperSign-w lite and SuperSign-c as compatible software. Choose the option that matches your network and the number of screens you plan to manage. For a multi-site rollout across Doha and Al Khor, confirm the software approach in the quotation so the hardware and software match the deployment.

Which safety and EMC certifications does it carry?

Listed safety certifications are UL, cUL, CB, TUV and KC. Listed EMC certifications are FCC Class A, CE and KCC. No ErP or Energy Star rating is listed for this model. Government and semi-government buyers can use these certifications for technical compliance review, and SmartRooms Qatar supplies through purchase orders and government tenders, including Monaqasat.

What is included in the box?

The basic kit includes a remote controller with two batteries, a power cord, a 2.6 m DisplayPort cable, a quick setup guide, a regulation book, a phone-to-RS232C gender adapter and a memory cover. Optional extras are the pixel sensor KT-SP0, a media player, the OPS kit KT-OPSA and HDBaseT EB-B100. Confirm the extras you need when requesting a quote.

Can a school or ministry order several units under one purchase order?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs), bank transfer, cheque and purchase order payment, and government tenders including Monaqasat. For a school in Al Wakrah fitting out several classrooms, or a ministry equipping reception areas, send your room list and mounting details. We quote each unit, usually within one working day, and deliver to all eight municipalities.
