86UM3DG-H

What the 86UM3DG-H is built for

The LG 86UM3DG-H is a large-format display made for digital signage, where one screen shows information, wayfinding or promotional content for many hours each day. Its IPS panel runs at 3,840 x 2,160, four times the pixel count of Full HD, so text and fine graphics stay sharp at close range. The unit is rated for 24/7 operation and can be mounted in landscape or portrait orientation, which suits tall layouts in lift lobbies and retail entrances.

Status: LG has discontinued this model. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement, and the sections below explain what to compare.

Panel facts that matter in bright rooms

The panel is rated at 350 nits typical brightness, with a contrast ratio of 1,100:1 and a dynamic contrast figure of 1,000,000:1. It covers 95% of the BT709 colour gamut and supports 10-bit colour, equal to 1.07 billion colours. The surface treatment has a haze value of 28%, which softens reflections from windows and ceiling lights.

• 28% haze reduces glare in lobbies with large glass frontages.
• 350 nits typical suits indoor rooms with controlled lighting rather than direct sunlight.
• 178 x 178 viewing angle keeps content readable for visitors standing to the side.

Connecting, controlling and managing the display

Inputs include three HDMI ports supporting HDCP 2.2 and 1.4, an RS232C input, an RJ45 LAN port, an IR input and a USB 2.0 Type A port. Audio out and RS232C out let the screen pass sound and control signals onward. The built-in speaker removes the need for separate speakers for announcements. The display is listed as compatible with Crestron Connected AV controls and Cisco video conferencing control, so it can also serve a meeting room.

Facilities teams can use the embedded Control Manager to monitor displays at different sites in real time from internet-connected devices. The optional ConnectedCare cloud service adds fault diagnosis and remote control. Software compatibility is listed for SuperSign CMS, SuperSign Control and Control+, SuperSign WB, SuperSign Media Editor and LG ConnectedCare.

Where it fits in Qatar

• A hospital outpatient lobby in Doha showing queue numbers and health information in an air-conditioned waiting area.
• A university building in Education City displaying timetables and event notices along a corridor.
• A shopping mall atrium in West Bay or Lusail running directory and promotional loops, placed away from direct sun.

What to plan before ordering

The head weighs 49.0 kg and measures 1926.2 x 1097.2 x 60.6 mm without the handle and logo. The VESA interface is 600 x 400, and the optional LSW640A/B wall mount is listed for this model. Because of its size and weight, SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to check wall construction, mounting height and cable routes before installation. The operating range is 0 to 40 °C with 10% to 80% humidity, so install it in an air-conditioned indoor space away from windows and outdoor enclosures. The power supply accepts 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz. Typical draw is listed as 215 W and maximum as 280 W, figures the manufacturer marks as provisional. Confirm the plug type with our team before installation. The box includes a remote controller, power cord, quick start guide, regulation book and a phone to RS232C gender adapter.

Discontinued model and replacement

Organisations that already run this display need to plan spares and matching units around its discontinued status. Request a quote from SmartRooms Qatar for a current equivalent or compatible replacement, and share the room size, mounting method and required inputs so the team can compare options. Schools and government offices ordering several units can send a purchase order (LPO) or tender reference with the request. Quotations are usually issued within one working day.
