Overview

The IAdea XDS-1588 is a 15-inch touch-enabled room booking panel with a 1920 x 1080 display, 350-nit brightness, Android 7.1, PoE+ power and a programmable LED light bar for meeting room status. The manufacturer has discontinued this model. It suits organisations in Qatar that already run it or need a compatible replacement. Request a quote for a current equivalent.

What the XDS-1588 is built to do

The IAdea XDS-1588 is a 15-inch touch-enabled room booking panel from the manufacturer's 15-inch series. It is mounted beside a meeting room door to show room status and to let staff check and reserve the room on the spot. It runs Android 7.1 on a quad-core Cortex-A17 processor at 1.8 GHz and drives a 1920 x 1080 display rated at 350 nits. The manufacturer has discontinued this model, so this page is written for organisations that already own it, buyers comparing it with newer panels, and anyone who needs a replacement.

The specifications that matter for a room booking panel

Display: 15-inch widescreen touch panel, 1920 x 1080 resolution, 350 nits brightness.
Power and network: PoE+ lets one Ethernet cable carry power, network and data to the panel.
Status lighting: an LED light bar with thousands of programmable colours.
Connectivity: Wi-Fi and a built-in camera are listed on the spec sheet.
Mounting: built-in VESA MIS-D mount, 100 mm x 100 mm.

The manufacturer's comparison table lists no NFC or HID module on this base model. NFC is listed on the XDS-1588-A, and the XDS-1588-H adds HID alongside NFC. Some manufacturer text describes an NFC and RFID module, so confirm which variant you own before ordering accessories or replacements.

Where it fits in Qatar

A government ministry in Doha could place one beside a boardroom in its West Bay offices, so staff book rooms from the panel instead of a laptop. A university in Education City could use several panels across seminar rooms, with each door display showing the schedule for that room. A hotel in West Bay or a serviced apartment building in Lusail could use them for conference rooms where staff and guests need to see availability before walking in.

What to plan before installation

Because the panel draws power over the same Ethernet cable that carries its data, plan the cable run to each door before installation and confirm that the switch has PoE+ ports free for each panel. The built-in VESA mount makes wall fixing straightforward on a 100 mm x 100 mm pattern. Summer heat above 45°C is a real concern near windows and external walls. The source data does not give an operating temperature range for this model, so confirm the installation environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before fixing it anywhere other than an air-conditioned interior. Booking software is a third-party product, so agree on it with your IT team first.

Because this model is discontinued, the most useful step is to tell us which booking platform your team uses and how many rooms need a panel. SmartRooms Qatar will identify the nearest current equivalent or compatible replacement, deliver to all 8 municipalities of Qatar and offer a free site survey and professional installation. Request a quote, and we usually respond within one working day.

Questions about XDS-1588

Is the IAdea XDS-1588 still available from the manufacturer?

The manufacturer has discontinued the XDS-1588, so it should be treated as an end-of-life model. SmartRooms Qatar can check whether a current equivalent or compatible replacement suits your room booking setup. Send us the number of rooms and the booking software you use, and we will reply with a quotation, usually within one working day. We can also quote delivery to any of Qatar's 8 municipalities.

What display and processor does the XDS-1588 use?

It has a 15-inch touch-enabled display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and 350 nits brightness, running Android 7.1 on a quad-core Cortex-A17 processor at 1.8 GHz. These figures are enough for room schedules, booking screens and simple signage beside a meeting room door. A 350-nit panel suits rooms with normal indoor lighting. For a bright lobby or a room with large windows, ask our team to check whether a different model is a better fit before you order.

Does the XDS-1588 have NFC?

The manufacturer's comparison table lists no NFC or HID module for the base XDS-1588. NFC is listed on the XDS-1588-A, and the XDS-1588-H adds HID alongside NFC. Some manufacturer text describes an NFC and RFID module, which conflicts with the table, so do not assume badge tapping works on this base model. If staff need to tap cards at the door, confirm the variant and ask us which current replacement offers that function.

How is the XDS-1588 powered and connected?

It supports PoE+, so a single Ethernet cable provides power, network and data to the panel. Wi-Fi is also listed on the spec sheet, and the device has a built-in camera. Where a comms room already has PoE+ switches, each door panel can be powered without a separate power outlet beside the door. During a site survey, check cable lengths and confirm that each panel has its own PoE+ switch port.

How is the XDS-1588 mounted on the wall?

It has a built-in VESA MIS-D mount measuring 100 mm x 100 mm. Choose wall fixings that suit that pattern and the wall material before installation. Many Doha office buildings use glass or partition walls, so ask for a site survey before drilling. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys and professional installation, which lets us confirm the fixing method and cable route in advance.

Which room booking software does the XDS-1588 work with?

The manufacturer says the device is compatible with numerous room management programs and can connect to existing in-house booking systems. The booking itself runs in that third-party software, so the panel does not replace your calendar platform. Before ordering, confirm with your IT team which platform you use, and tell us during the quotation so the panel can be set up for your existing calendar.

Can a government ministry in Doha buy this panel through a tender?

Yes. SmartRooms Qatar supplies government ministries and authorities and accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including Monaqasat. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. For a ministry fitting out several meeting rooms in an office building in West Bay, send the room list and we will quote for each room. Products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Is the XDS-1588 suitable for a university campus in Education City?

It suits seminar rooms, research meeting rooms and department offices where a door panel shows the booking schedule for that room. Each panel can be linked to its own room calendar in your booking platform. Because this model is discontinued, we recommend checking a current equivalent for a campus-wide rollout, and asking for a site survey in buildings with mixed partitions or glazed doors.

Can the XDS-1588 go in a sunny corridor or outdoors in Qatar's summer?

The source data does not give an operating temperature range for this model, so its tolerance for hot environments cannot be confirmed. Summer temperatures above 45°C in Qatar make windows, external walls and entrances a real risk. Plan to install the panel inside an air-conditioned interior, and confirm the environment with the SmartRooms Qatar team before fixing it anywhere else.

How do the status lights on the XDS-1588 work?

The panel has an LED light bar, and the manufacturer describes thousands of programmable colours for it. The lights let people see a room's status at a glance from along a corridor. The exact colour logic depends on the booking software or settings you use, so confirm with the software vendor how status colours are mapped before rollout.

What should I compare if I am replacing an XDS-1588 in a meeting room?

Compare screen size, resolution, brightness, power method, mounting and whether you need NFC. The XDS-1588 offers a 15-inch 1920 x 1080 display at 350 nits, PoE+ power, Wi-Fi and a 100 mm x 100 mm VESA mount, and its base version has no NFC. Send these figures to SmartRooms Qatar and we will check which current replacement fits your existing wall fixings before quoting.

Do we need a site survey before installing several XDS-1588 panels?

Yes, we recommend one. The survey checks each door position, the cable route to the nearest PoE+ switch, the wall type and the mounting height. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys, and the findings feed directly into the quotation, which we usually provide within one working day. For an office or school fitting out several rooms on the same floor, a single visit can cover several doors.
