What the Elo 5553L is and why it is discontinued

The Elo 5553L is a 55-inch interactive touch display with a native 3840 x 2160 resolution, designed for interactive signage, conference rooms and collaboration. The manufacturer has discontinued this model and replaces it with the 5554L. If you already operate a 5553L or are comparing displays, SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement so your project is not held up by an unavailable model.

Choosing the right touch option

Three part numbers cover the range. The E628053 pairs TouchPro PCAP touch, rated for 40 touch points, with an anti-glare surface. The E914973 uses the same PCAP touch with a clear surface and anti-friction treatment. The E628244 uses infrared touch with 20 points and an anti-glare finish. The PCAP models list 430 nits for the touch layer, while the LCD panel is rated at 500 nits, which helps in bright reception areas.

Computing, ports and connectivity

Three HDCP-capable HDMI inputs and one DisplayPort 1.4 input
USB 3.0 Type B and Type A ports, plus an RS232 serial connection on a 3.5 mm jack
Optional Windows computer module (ECMG4) that turns the panel into an all-in-one PC without external cables
Optional Android Backpack 4 media player, managed through the EloView portal
Elo Edge Connect accessories, up to four at once, for card readers, scanners and cameras

Two 10 W stereo speakers are built in, and the on-screen menu includes a Conference source and a screen-share setting for meeting use.

Where it fits in Qatar

Three realistic uses show where this display works well:

A retail unit in Lusail or The Pearl running an endless-aisle catalogue, where shoppers browse products on the touchscreen while staff remain at the counter.
A huddle room in West Bay where a small team annotates a shared document and sends the screen to colleagues abroad during a video call.
A clinic waiting area in Al Sadd showing wayfinding and health information, with the display set to run on a timed schedule.

What to plan for before you order

Check the operating range against the room. The panel is rated for 0 to 40 C in portrait, landscape or tilted up to 15 degrees, and 0 to 35 C in tabletop mode, with 20 to 80 percent operating humidity. For a location near glass or a main entrance, confirm conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team before installation. The power input accepts 100 to 240 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz supply. The TouchPro version weighs 36.8 kg unpackaged without the computer module and 38.9 kg with it, so check wall structure carefully. It mounts to VESA 400 x 400 mm (M6) and 600 x 600 mm (M8) patterns.

Warranty and ordering

The 5553L carries a three-year warranty with advance unit replacement included, and the manufacturer lists optional extensions to four or five years. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys before wall mounting, delivery to all eight municipalities of Qatar and professional installation. Organisations can order by purchase order or through government tenders. Request a quote today, and quotations are usually issued within one working day.

Questions about 5553L

Is the Elo 5553L still available from SmartRooms Qatar?

The manufacturer has discontinued the 5553L and replaces it with the 5554L. If your project needs a 55-inch 4K interactive display in this format, we can quote the 5554L or another compatible replacement suited to your site. If you already own 5553L units, ask for matching mounts and accessories in the same quotation so everything stays compatible.

Which part number should I order?

Three part numbers exist. E628053 is TouchPro PCAP with 40 touch points and an anti-glare surface. E914973 is TouchPro PCAP with a clear surface and anti-friction treatment. E628244 is infrared with 20 touch points and an anti-glare surface. Choose PCAP when several people will write on the screen at once, and infrared when fewer touch points are enough for the application.

Can it run content without a separate PC?

Yes, using optional modules. The ECMG4 Windows computer module attaches to the back of the panel and is offered with no operating system or with Windows 10 LTSC, both based on Intel Core 7th-generation processors. The Elo Backpack 4 is an Android compute engine managed remotely through the EloView portal, and it is available in value and standard models. Confirm which option suits your content software before ordering.

What ports are included, and does it work with video conferencing apps?

The panel has three HDCP-capable HDMI inputs, one DisplayPort 1.4 input, USB 3.0 Type A and Type B ports, an RS232 serial connection on a 3.5 mm jack and an RJ45 OSD remote port. The optional conference camera is listed as compatible with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco Webex, GoToMeeting and BlueJeans. The on-screen menu also includes a Conference source and screen-share settings for meeting rooms.

Can it handle Qatar's summer heat and 240 V power?

The panel is rated for operation from 0 to 40 C in portrait, landscape or tilted up to 15 degrees, and from 0 to 35 C in tabletop mode. Its power input accepts 100 to 240 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz, which includes Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz supply. The box includes a power cable with a UK plug, which matches BS 1363 sockets. For locations exposed to direct sun or near glass, confirm the conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team first.

How heavy is it, and how is it mounted?

The TouchPro model weighs 36.8 kg unpackaged without the ECMG4 module and 38.9 kg with it. The infrared model weighs 36.55 kg and 38.65 kg respectively. It mounts to VESA 400 x 400 mm with M6 screws or 600 x 600 mm with M8 screws. Because of its weight, check the wall or stand structure before installation. SmartRooms Qatar offers free site surveys for wall-mounting projects.

What warranty comes with the 5553L?

The standard warranty is three years and includes advance unit replacement. The manufacturer also lists extended options: four or five years with advance unit replacement, and three, four or five years with on-site exchange. Government ministries, schools and companies in Qatar can order by purchase order or through government tenders, and SmartRooms Qatar will confirm the warranty terms in the quotation.

Would it suit an endless-aisle display in a shop in Lusail?

Yes. A 55-inch 4K touchscreen lets shoppers browse a product catalogue without waiting for staff. The 178-degree viewing angle keeps the image readable from several positions along a store aisle, and the ambient light sensor adjusts panel colour to the lighting. The on-screen schedule can switch the display on and off with opening hours, and power-saving modes reduce consumption when it is idle.

Is 55 inches the right size for a huddle room in West Bay?

A 55-inch panel suits a small team working directly on the screen. The active area measures 1209.6 x 680.4 mm, so it is large enough for a shared document, a whiteboard session or a sketch that several people can see. Team members can write with a stylus or a finger. To confirm the size against your room layout and viewing distance, request a quote with the room dimensions.

Could a clinic waiting area in Al Sadd use it for wayfinding?

Yes. The display supports an on/off schedule, power loss behaviour settings, and an OSD lock that stops visitors from changing settings. Its power consumption is 1.52 W in sleep mode, and the manufacturer lists Energy Star 8.0 compliance. Wayfinding content and health information can run during opening hours, while the screen stays locked and protected from accidental changes.

Would it fit a collaborative teaching space in Education City?

It suits group teaching because the PCAP model supports up to 40 touch points, allowing several students to work on the screen together. Lecturers can connect a laptop through HDMI or DisplayPort, or run content from an internal ECMG4 module. For best results in a university space, avoid direct sunlight on the screen and ask SmartRooms Qatar to confirm placement and mounting before installation.

Is it suitable for a hotel lobby in Msheireb or a ministry reception in Doha?

Yes, for interactive wayfinding and visitor information. The panel displays 3840 x 2160 resolution at 500 nits with a 178-degree viewing angle, so content remains clear from different positions. The reception area should be air-conditioned within the stated operating range and kept out of direct sun. Locking the on-screen menu prevents visitors from changing settings, and a free site survey helps plan the mounting.
