Availability: Discontinued

Overview

The NEC MultiSync V423-TM is a 42-inch, 16:9 touch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution. Four integrated optical cameras read up to five simultaneous touch points, from fingers, styluses or gloved hands. NEC has discontinued this model, so SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement. It suits classrooms, meeting rooms and retail signage across Qatar.

What the NEC V423-TM is and why it matters now

The NEC MultiSync V423-TM is a 42-inch, 16:9 large-format display with touch built into its front, part of the MultiSync V Series. NEC has discontinued this model, so it is no longer offered as a new unit by the manufacturer. Organisations in Qatar that already run one, or that are comparing it with newer touch displays, can ask SmartRooms Qatar for a quote on a current equivalent or a compatible replacement.

Touch input and what it means on the floor

Touch is detected by four integrated optical cameras, and the panel accepts a finger, a stylus or a gloved hand. It tracks up to five simultaneous touch points, which suits a classroom where several pupils work on the board together or a meeting room where two presenters share one screen. Gesture control is supported on Windows 7 and Windows 8. The manufacturer lists single-point support for Mac OS and Linux, so confirm your operating system before you commit.

Screen quality, glass and reflection control

The S-IPS panel offers a native 1920 x 1080 resolution at 60 Hz, a typical contrast ratio of 1300:1 and brightness rated at 430 cd/m² at the shipment setting. The front is 4 mm fully tempered glass with a double-sided anti-reflection coating, which the data rates at 2% reflection and 96% light transmission. That combination helps slides and retail content stay readable under ceiling lights or near a window. A lower 173 cd/m² figure is listed for Eco mode, and typical response time is 12 ms grey-to-grey.

OPS slot, connectivity and control

The built-in OPS slot takes a slot-in PC that follows the NEC and Intel OPS standard, so the computer can sit inside the display rather than beside it. The manufacturer lists Core i5 and i7 options and recommends the WS7P slot-in PC. Video inputs include DisplayPort, DVI-D and HDMI 1.3, all with HDCP, plus D-sub 15-pin and composite BNC. Control runs through LAN 100Mbit with SNMP, RS232 and an IR remote sensor, and the built-in scheduler and automatic alarm e-mails help facilities teams manage several panels.

Where it fits in Qatar

In a private school in Al Wakrah fitting out a science or language classroom, a 42-inch panel gives students a readable surface for group work, and five-point touch lets two pupils solve a problem at the same time. In a company meeting room in West Bay, the panel can serve as the main display for presentations, with the OPS slot keeping the computer out of the way. In an indoor lobby or retail area in a Doha shopping district, the touch layer suits interactive product catalogues, provided the space is air-conditioned.

What to plan before ordering

Operating temperature is 0 to +35°C and humidity 20 to 80%, so install it in an air-conditioned room, not a hot store room, an outdoor canopy or a sunlit lobby exposed to dust.
The front is rated IP40 and the back IP20, so keep the panel indoors and away from dust.
Without stand the panel weighs 24.7 kg and measures 1,008 x 601 x 83.3 mm. Plan a wall with a 300 x 300 mm VESA pattern and M6 holes.
The manufacturer lists a wall mount, trolley, feet and speaker options for this model.
The stated warranty is three years and includes the backlight.

SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey before wall-mounting a panel of this size, and quotations are usually issued within one working day. We accept purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, with payment by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. To request a quote for this discontinued model or for a current equivalent, send SmartRooms Qatar your room sizes and mounting plans.

Questions about V423-TM

Is the NEC V423-TM still sold new?

No. NEC has discontinued the V423-TM, so the manufacturer no longer offers it as a new unit. If you need a 42-inch touch display for a school, office or retail space, request a quote. SmartRooms Qatar will recommend a current equivalent or a compatible replacement that matches your required touch points, operating system and mounting plan, and quotations are usually issued within one working day.

What is the NEC V423-TM designed for?

It is a 42-inch, 16:9 touch display built for classrooms, conference rooms and retail signage, which NEC positions for short response times and high accuracy. It suits any room that needs one large interactive surface driven directly by a computer or video source. A single 42-inch unit works best where a small group gathers around the screen rather than a large audience.

How many people can touch the screen at once?

The panel supports up to five simultaneous touch points, with gesture control on Windows 7 and Windows 8. The data lists one touch point for Windows XP, Mac OS and Linux, and four touch points for Windows Vista. The practical touch count therefore depends on the operating system you plan to run, so confirm it before you order.

Will the touch work with gloves in a clinic or laboratory in Doha?

Yes. The listed touch methods are finger, gloves and stylus, so staff in a laboratory, workshop or clinic who wear gloves can still operate the screen. Results can vary with glove material, so ask SmartRooms Qatar to confirm the glove type you use during the quotation stage, before you commit to a purchase.

Can I run a computer inside the display?

Yes, through the built-in OPS slot, which follows the NEC and Intel OPS standard. The manufacturer lists Core i5 and i7 options and recommends the WS7P slot-in PC. Running the computer inside the housing removes the need for an external PC box and most of the cables that would run between it and the screen, which keeps a classroom or reception area tidy.

Which video inputs and control options does it have?

Video inputs include DisplayPort, DVI-D and HDMI 1.3, all with HDCP, plus D-sub 15-pin, composite BNC and RGBHV for PC. There is a DVI-D output as well. Control is possible over LAN 100Mbit with SNMP, RS232, and an IR remote sensor, which helps IT teams manage several panels from one place.

Can it be used in Qatar's summer heat?

Only in air-conditioned indoor spaces. The operating temperature range is 0 to +35°C and operating humidity is 20 to 80%. Temperatures in Qatar regularly rise above 45°C in summer, so do not install it in a hot store room, an outdoor canopy or a sunlit lobby without climate control. Confirm the room conditions with SmartRooms Qatar before the site survey.

Can it be wall-mounted, and how much space does it need?

Yes. It uses a 300 x 300 mm VESA pattern with four M6 holes. Without stand the panel measures 1,008 x 601 x 83.3 mm and weighs 24.7 kg. Because of its weight, SmartRooms Qatar offers a free site survey to check the wall, the bracket and the cable routes before installation, which is particularly useful in a new fit-out.

Would it suit a West Bay meeting room with large windows?

It can, because the front glass has a double-sided anti-reflection coating rated at 2% reflection and 96% light transmission. Those figures help content stay visible under room lighting. Strong daylight from large windows can still affect readability, so the window orientation should be checked during the site survey before the mounting position is chosen.

What warranty applies to this model?

The manufacturer data lists a three-year warranty that includes the backlight. Products supplied by SmartRooms Qatar are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Warranty terms are confirmed with the quotation, so ask SmartRooms Qatar to confirm what applies to your order before you issue a purchase order.

Is this size right for a school classroom or a lecture hall?

A 42-inch panel suits a classroom or small meeting room where viewers sit close to the screen, such as a private school classroom in Al Rayyan. For a lecture hall or a large boardroom, a larger screen size is more appropriate. Decide the room size and seating distance first, then request a quote for the right size.

How do we order several units for a school or government entity?

SmartRooms Qatar accepts purchase orders (LPOs) and government tenders, including tenders through the Monaqasat platform. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. Quotations are usually issued within one working day. Send the number of rooms and the mounting type you need so the quotation can be prepared for the whole order.
