Overview
The Elo 3243L PCAP is a discontinued 32-inch full HD open-frame touchscreen with 10-point projected capacitive touch, a 16:9 panel and a sealed touch surface suited to kiosks, retail and hospitality. Elo has replaced it with the 3243L IntelliTouch. SmartRooms Qatar can quote a current equivalent or a compatible replacement for organisations across Qatar that already run this model or need an open-frame touch display.
A discontinued model and what to do next
The Elo 3243L PCAP is a 32-inch open-frame touchscreen with a 16:9 full HD panel and TouchPro projected capacitive glass. Elo has discontinued this model and names the 3243L IntelliTouch as its replacement. This page is for organisations that already own the 3243L PCAP, for buyers comparing it with newer options, and for anyone searching for a like-for-like replacement in Qatar.
Display and touch specifications that matter
- Panel: 31.5-inch diagonal active matrix TFT LCD with LED backlighting and a 1920 x 1080 resolution.
- Brightness: typical figures of 500 nits for the LCD panel and 425 nits through the PCAP layer.
- Contrast and colour: a 3000:1 contrast ratio and 16.7 million colours.
- Touch: PCAP technology with 10-point touch connected over USB.
- Viewing angle: 178 degrees total, horizontal and vertical.
These figures suit content such as menus, wayfinding maps and visitor registration screens, where text needs to stay sharp at arm's length. The response time is listed at 8 ms typical, which keeps touch interaction responsive for public use.
Inputs, power and environmental limits
Video inputs are analog VGA and HDCP-capable HDMI 1.3. The power supply is internal, accepts 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz through an IEC 60320 C14 inlet, and draws typically 47.1 W on, 1.0 W in sleep and 0.1 W off at 230 V, 50 Hz. The operating range is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius with 20 to 80 percent humidity. Summer temperatures in Qatar regularly pass 45 degrees Celsius, so install the unit in an air-conditioned interior away from direct sunlight and confirm the site conditions with the SmartRooms Qatar team before ordering.
Where it fits in Qatar
- A bank branch in West Bay installing a self-service information kiosk in its lobby, where the sealed touch surface helps resist dust and spills.
- A hotel in Lusail adding a check-in or wayfinding terminal inside a custom enclosure that uses the rear VESA pattern.
- A government service centre in Doha replacing an ageing kiosk screen, keeping the same 32-inch footprint while upgrading the touch layer.
What to plan before ordering
- Measure the enclosure: 747.3 mm x 452.7 mm x 55 mm, with an unpackaged weight of 11.2 kg.
- The rear VESA pattern is 400 mm x 200 mm with four holes.
- Optional accessories include a remote OSD (Elo part E483757), a flushmount kit (E312503) and a stylus pen (E066148).
- On-screen display languages are English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Simplified and Traditional Chinese and Japanese, with no Arabic listed.
- The box includes several regional power cords, so confirm the plug type for Qatar's 240 V sockets with the team.
The manufacturer lists a 3-year warranty, with 4-year and 5-year extended coverage options. SmartRooms Qatar can arrange a free site survey for wall or kiosk installations, which is worth doing for heavy units in public spaces.
Replacement and next steps
Request a quote and share your location, enclosure drawings, operating environment and the number of units. The SmartRooms Qatar team will recommend the model Elo names as its replacement, or a compatible current equivalent, and check that the mounting and cabling still fit. Questions about 3243L PCAP
Is the Elo 3243L PCAP still available to order?
Elo has discontinued the 3243L PCAP, so this page is for organisations that already own it or are comparing options. Request a quote and the SmartRooms Qatar team will recommend a current equivalent or a compatible replacement for your project, with the quotation usually provided within one working day.
What replaces the Elo 3243L PCAP?
Elo names the 3243L IntelliTouch as the replacement for this model. The 3243L PCAP uses 10-point TouchPro projected capacitive glass, so before switching compare the touch technology, mounting and cable set with your existing kiosk. Ask SmartRooms Qatar for a quote and a compatibility check before ordering.
What screen size and resolution does the 3243L PCAP offer?
The active area is a 31.5-inch diagonal in a 16:9 format with a 1920 x 1080 full HD resolution. It also supports several lower VGA and XGA-class resolutions at 60 Hz. The panel is an active matrix TFT LCD with LED backlighting and a 16.7 million colour count.
How bright is the screen for a lobby with daylight?
Typical brightness is 500 nits for the LCD panel and 425 nits through the PCAP layer, with a 3000:1 contrast ratio. For a lobby with large windows, position the screen away from direct sun and ask the SmartRooms Qatar team to review the site before purchase, since the figures are typical values.
Will it run on Qatar's 240 V mains supply?
The internal power supply accepts 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz through an IEC 60320 C14 inlet, and typical consumption at 230 V, 50 Hz is 47.1 W when on and 1.0 W in sleep. The box includes several regional power cords, so confirm the correct plug type for Qatar sockets with the SmartRooms Qatar team.
Can it operate outdoors or in a hot kiosk in Qatar?
The rated operating range is 0 to 40 degrees Celsius with 20 to 80 percent humidity, and storage is rated from -20 to 60 degrees Celsius. Qatar summers can exceed 45 degrees Celsius, so use the unit in an air-conditioned interior and confirm the enclosure ventilation and site conditions with SmartRooms Qatar before ordering.
Is the touch surface suitable for a public hospital reception in Al Sadd?
The touchscreen is sealed to the bezel and LCD against dirt, dust and liquids, and the glass is tested to UL 60950 ball-drop requirements. When sealed into a finished enclosure, the manufacturer states the front can reach IP65. These features suit a busy reception where visitors touch the screen all day.
How do I mount it in a wall niche or custom kiosk?
The rear has a 400 mm x 200 mm VESA 4-hole mounting pattern, and the unit measures 747.3 mm x 452.7 mm x 55 mm and weighs 11.2 kg unpackaged. Optional rack and front-mount bezels and a flushmount kit (E312503) are listed by Elo. Book a free site survey so the wall or kiosk structure can carry the weight.
Does the on-screen display support Arabic?
The OSD languages listed are English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Japanese. Arabic is not in that list, so menus will appear in one of the listed languages. Settings are adjusted with the optional remote OSD (Elo part E483757), which connects through RJ45.
What warranty comes with the 3243L PCAP?
The manufacturer lists a 3-year warranty. Extended options are also listed: 4-year warranty coverage with advance unit replacement under Elo part E740135, and 5-year coverage under E740330. Ask for these options in your quotation, along with the products supplied under the standard manufacturer warranty.
Would it suit a shopping mall directory or a hotel lobby in Doha?
Yes, the manufacturer positions the 3243L for retail, hotel, gaming and transport kiosks. A mall directory in West Bay or a hotel lobby in The Pearl would benefit from the 10-point touch and sealed surface. Confirm the enclosure size and cable route with the SmartRooms Qatar team before the layout is fixed.
How do we order several units for a school in Al Rayyan?
Send the list of units and accessories with your LPO or tender reference, and SmartRooms Qatar will issue a quotation usually within one working day. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or purchase order. A free site survey can confirm mounting and power points for every room before delivery to the school.
