3243L

What the Elo 3243L is and why it is discontinued

The Elo 3243L is an open-frame touchscreen. It ships as a bare panel without a housing, so kiosk builders and digital signage integrators can build it into their own enclosure. Elo has discontinued this model and replaced it with the 3263L. If you already own a 3243L, or you are comparing it with newer models, SmartRooms Qatar can quote the 3263L or another compatible replacement for your project.

Screen and touch performance

The 31.5-inch diagonal LCD, which Elo markets as a 32-inch model, runs at 1920 x 1080 Full HD in a 16:9 format, with an active area of 700.4 mm x 394.85 mm. Its LED-backlit panel is rated at 500 nits with a 3000:1 contrast ratio, while the touch-enabled version is rated at 450 nits typical. Touch uses IntelliTouch surface acoustic wave technology in a Dual Touch configuration, connected by USB.

• Response time: 8 ms typical, which keeps touch menus responsive.
• Colour: 16.7 million colours with a 178-degree viewing angle both horizontally and vertically.
• Input: HDCP-capable HDMI 1.3 and analog VGA, with cables for both in the box.
• Setup: on-screen display operated by a cabled remote accessory, in eight languages that do not include Arabic.

Slim body, sealed glass and mounting

The total depth is 57.2 mm, and the unit weighs 12.1 kg without packaging. The LED backlighting reduces power draw and heat, which lets kiosk designers make slimmer cabinets. The touchscreen is sealed to the bezel and to the LCD, and Elo describes the unit as sealed against dirt, dust and liquids. The glass is tested to UL 60950 ball-drop requirements, which matters where members of the public use the screen. Mounting uses a 400 x 200 mm VESA 4-hole pattern on the rear. The IntelliTouch Dual Touch version includes side mounting brackets, and the box holds a bracket kit with eight brackets and sixteen M4 x 5 screws.

Where it fits in Qatar

Three situations suit this panel. A hotel in The Pearl or Lusail can place it in a check-in or wayfinding kiosk, where the 57.2 mm depth keeps the stand slim and the sealed front resists the dust that builds up in busy lobbies. A clinic in Al Sadd can use it for patient self-check-in or queue information, with OSD and power lockouts set so visitors cannot change settings. A government service centre in Msheireb can deploy several units as information points in air-conditioned halls, ordered on a purchase order.

Climate, power and planning

The operating temperature range is 0°C to 40°C, with operating humidity from 20% to 80%. Storage is rated from -20°C to 60°C. Qatar summers often exceed 45°C, so place the unit in an air-conditioned indoor space and check that any enclosure keeps internal temperatures inside the rated range. The power supply accepts 100-240 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz, which covers Qatar's 240 V, 50 Hz mains. Elo rates the unit for 24 hours a day operation, with typical consumption of 47.4 W when on at 120 V and 47.1 W at 230 V. Before ordering, measure your cabinet or wall space, confirm the mounting method and confirm the plug type for your sockets.
