An 86-inch 4K panel for shared work

The Hisense 86WR60AE is an 86-inch interactive display that combines a large 4K touchscreen, a built-in whiteboard, an Android 8.0 platform and wireless screen sharing in one unit. The panel offers 3840 x 2160 resolution on a D-LED backlight, with a typical brightness of 350 cd/m² and a typical contrast ratio of 1,200:1. Viewing angles are rated at 178 degrees horizontally and vertically, so people sitting at the sides of a meeting room can still read the content.

Hisense has discontinued this model and lists it as end of life. Use it as a reference point when specifying a replacement, and read the sections below before comparing it with a current model.

Touch, screen sharing and connections

The touchscreen recognises up to 20 touches at once, which suits several participants writing, annotating or moving objects at the same time. The front glass is tempered to protect the touch layer, and an anti-glare optical treatment reduces reflections from windows and ceiling lights. A blue-light filter is included for longer sessions.

The WR series can connect wirelessly to two or more auxiliary screen devices. The manufacturer describes a near-field communication (NFC) touch method and an A&C screen transmission method to simplify the process. The unit ships with two stylus pens and one wireless cast device, and the built-in whiteboard app supports writing, drawing and erasing by hand or with a stylus.

• Wi-Fi on 2.4G and 5G bands
• One 10/100Mbps RJ45 LAN port
• One USB 2.0 port and one USB 3.0 port
• Android 8.0 with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage

The octa-core processor and open Android platform support installing Android-based applications. Two 15W speakers are built in, rated at 2 x 15W into 8 ohms. Power input is AC 100V to 240V at 50 to 60 Hz, with a power consumption rating of 460W and standby consumption below 0.5W.

Where it fits in Qatar

An 86-inch panel suits a boardroom, lecture hall or large training room rather than a small huddle space. A ministry office in West Bay could use it in a boardroom where shared documents are reviewed during meetings with teams abroad. A training centre in Education City running workshops could use it at the front of a room, with participants annotating on screen. A private school in Al Rayyan refitting a lecture hall could use it for science demonstrations and group work.

Planning the wall, power and heat

The panel weighs 75 kg net and 100 kg packed, and its set dimensions are 1972 x 1192 x 116 mm. The VESA pattern is 1000 x 400 mm and a wall mount bracket is included. Because of the weight, book a free site survey before drilling, so the wall structure, clearances and cable routes can be checked.

The operating range is 0 to 40°C with 20 to 80% humidity. Qatar summer temperatures can pass 45°C, so install the panel in an air-conditioned room, away from direct sun through windows. The data does not list a plug type, so confirm that the supplied power cable suits BS 1363 (Type G) sockets when you request a quote.
